Does Howards’s behavior begin to become a problem?

I know many of you don’t follow twitter so I’m sorry in advance. I’m sure many have seen this but I just wonder how long can Howard act unhinged and survive after last year? He clearly has trouble handling his emotions and when Bufkin pulls him back and around his shoulder hits KB’s chin and clearly says get the F off me or some variation. I have been a 100% supporter of Juwan, my profile pic will prove it. However, after last year how much wiggle room is left? Especially with the team kind of underperforming does Warde take a look? Probably not with his track record of letting things go. What say you all?

Mayor honestly it's not you, per say.  But let's just say this. If you honestly did take a gander at yesterday's game then in totality, there was much more to Juwan's untimely but needed outburst for him.  Whether it be justified or not.  I can empathize with you in your space saying how you are as a person.  However this is a sports blog, and even though you come in peace and open up a can of legitimate playschool worms.  There will always be snakes in the grass.  Juwan is a good coach.  We all are not perfect.  As a former coach of young adults, adolescents, girls, boys, you have to know your audience.  I'm positive that the way Juwan reacts to,"his" kids, players, young men, they all know that he loves and cares for them.  Hey at least you tried.

It’s very hard on this blog to have a legitimate conversation because people are so quick to just jump in something they disagree with without trying to actually have a discussion. One thing I have learned in 51 years (the hard way I might add) is that if you only surround yourself with people that agree with you, you never learn and subsequently cannot empathize with others. The echo chamber is a lonely place. Thank you BoCan… Merry Christmas to you all!

I mean ... Bobby Knight was fired from Indiana because of his outbursts. To say "nobody harped on it" is flat-out factually wrong. 100% wrong. Same with Woody Hayes.

I agree we need to be sensitive to double standards -- and nobody here is suggesting Juwan should be fired because of last night anyway. But I don't think it helps to accuse every single person who expresses concern about a potential problem of being racist, simply because the person being talked about is black.

Are you suggesting African-Americans can't have anger management issues?

The number of ad hominem attacks on this blog are out of control.

Q: I wonder if our head basketball coach has a problem with anger management.

A: You're racist!!!

People outside of Michigan circles are looking at this very differently than those inside.

The op is not so far off in what he is saying.

Juwan Howard will probably be around for a while yet. But many had thought, like I did, that the anger outbursts like against Wisconsin last season was put behind him.

I was at the game last night in Charlotte. I will say that, in person I didn’t think I saw any egregious behavior out of Juwan but understand how that can look on TV. FWIW, Michigan played better than I expected. They should have won the game but it’s hard to overcome pretty much a no show from HD.

I think Howard is a good coach but as some others have said on the board I think he may be a better fit for coaching in the NBA where the players are less mistake prone and make more shots. I think he gets at least this year and next barring any additional behavioral issues. I do wish he would tell Dickinson to shut up. He’s starting to get on my nerves with the trash talk and play not backing it up.

It was satisfying to have so many OP posts to neg in this thread.  What a POS post with no substance to the incident in question at all.  Get this s*** out of here.

I just stopped by to see how the Michigan fanbase was viewing this.

FWIW, among the Badger fan base, even with last year's incident, I think McCaffery would win the poll of who's most likely to assault someone. The latest example was a couple of weeks ago against UW in IC, where his ire was directed at the refs and he had to be restrained by his assistants as he mean-mugged the refs as he strode towards them on the court. You can put a compilation tape together of these incidents much longer than Howard's. Although he hasn't uncorked on anyone quite yet, that's due to the lines he put in his assistants' job descriptions to physically get in his way when the Frantrums ultimately come.

I use that as a preamble to say that Howard's act is also wearing thin. I don't think the incident from the other night was really much of anything, but it does make you wonder about whether he's learned much.
