Does the CFP Committee Have The Balls To Do The Right Thing?

Submitted by StirredNotShaken on December 4th, 2021 at 11:35 PM

Michigan is the clear #1 seed in mind. We deserve to play the fourth best team in the CFP; that is Cincinnati. Fuck the SEC and not wanting a rematch on NYE. Do the right thing and seed us #1 against the fourth best team, Cincinnati. Let those SEC fuckers play each other in a boring semi final that nobody will care about.

Do the right thing!!

Like the announcer said it would be biased to if they avoided a Bama vs Georgia game because they just played. The CFP should want Michigan in the finals. The TV ratings would be HUGE.

I hate Notre Dame, but Georgia looked like ass against an overrated Alabama. I’d let ND in the playoff. Why should Georgia be automatically in? The SEC East was so weak this year.

Exactly. It’s shocking that every talking head/shill speaks as if GA deserves a spot in the CFP. They got hammered. Since when should a team that just got hammered get into the playoffs? It’s not as if they beat many good teams. That’s total BS. Hate to say ND is more deserving.

Georgia still has a far better resume than ND and should be in over them. Had OkSt won I'd argue they'd have been more deserving than Georgia.

But Notre Dame isn't. They don't deserve a birth into shit with their bs cherry picked schedule. No conference no playoff gtfo ND.

Yeah, I see what you're saying, but I think it's probably similar to March Madness, where they don't want early round rematches from the same conference, especially repeats of the last game.

That way also guarantees no all-SEC title game. You are absolutely right. It’s how it should be. But won’t. The other way to do it would be Bama-UM-Cincy-UGa, but they won’t do that either

There’s a difference between what should happen and what will happen. The CFP is NOT going to want a semi-final rematch.

Bama will be #1 tomorrow because it’s Bama. They will get the benefit of the doubt because of their name and their track record under Saban. It’s not right and you should judge their body of work from this year as opposed to just saying “we’ll it’s Bama and they won a bunch of titles before this year with guys who are no longer even enrolled there, so just put them at #1,” but it is what it is.

Michigan will likely have to go through two SEC teams if they want to win it all.

I'm agreeing with this take. They don't want a GA/AL semi-final rematch. And they like the idea of Michigan having to go through 2 SEC teams to get to the prize. And by pairing Bama with Cincy, that pretty much assures 1 SEC will make it to the final.

Look for Bama, M, GA, Cincy in that order when the pairing come out. Prepare to be disappointed.

I suspect that Michigan beating Iowa so clearly will just be interpreted as Iowa being merely a mildly above average team..which to be entirely fair has been this board's position for much of the season as well.

Look, it'll never happen but can anyone tell me exactly what UGA's marquee win is? Arkansas? Tennessee? And then they got nuked by one of the weaker Bama teams. Leave em out

Michigan
Cinci
Bama
Baylor/ND

I hate the argument about no rematch. They jobbed us in 2006 because they didn't want rematch. Those assholes better out Michigan #1 and Cincinnati #4. Having said that both Georgia and Bama looked B12 teams today on offense. Deep ball after deep ball. Georgia is the #1 defense? Please. Bama needed 4 OT to beat a shitty team just last week. Come on.

They don't know what they are up against when Michigan comes with their D.

The BCS and the media made themselves look stupid when all the rules (and bitching) that applied to Michigan in 2006 did NOT apply to Alabama to 2011.

And now with the four team playoff?  It's still skewed to the SEC even when the conference struggles.  In 2017, the SEC was probably the worst it's been in my lifetime yet the national title game was between Alabama and Georgia.  Not all that different from this year, actually (LSU down, Auburn down, Florida way down, etc).  Don't think for a minute the media wouldn't love to see that again.

I WANT THAT #1 SEED! MICHIGAN DESERVES THE #1 SEED! Best all-around team in college football. #

What we need to figure out is, does the CFP want to avoid the Georgia/Bama re-match in the semis, or avoid it in the finals?

If the CFP wants to avoid Georgia/Bama in the finals, then UM will get the #1 seed.

If UM faced Bama in the finals, that would generate the greatest TV ratings out of any of the four teams playing for the NC.  Perhaps the committee will take that route in regards to the ratings.

It's damn shame the CFP is so influenced by ratings and $$$, but we live in the real-world, and the CFP wants the NCAA to make as much $$$ as possible.  That will always be priority #1 for the CFP.

They won’t do it because they don’t have the balls to.

let’s not mention that we’d be 13-0 had that hutch TD not been reversed.

Georgia hasn’t bested ANYBODY with a pulse. Michigan played the hardest schedule of any team and CRUSHED it.

Also, put us wherever you want. I ain’t scared.

Unfortunately the committee will give the edge to Bama because they thought UGA D was unstoppable.

I don’t care who Uof〽️ plays, Uof〽️ Wins the National Championship.

There is no way in heaven or hell that the committee will put M against Cinci in round 1, and force a rematch for Georgia and Alabama.

M vs. Georgia, hopefully in Dallas

Alabama vs. Cincinnati

The national championship game is the money maker, I’d think everyone would want a GA vs AL rematch in the semi’s rather than the NC game. I wouldn’t watch that shit if it happened again more than likely, it’s not like it was a close game.

Id probably reward Baylor or ND and drop our GA to avoid a rematch.

In a rational world the three conference champs would retain their respective positions but move up a spot with UGA claiming the fourth spot.  Thus:

  1. Michigan
  2. Alabama
  3. Cincinnati
  4. Georgia

Bring it the fuck on.  Put Michigan number 2 against Georgia and then when Michigan shreds the hell out of them, they'll move the the championship to pound Bama too in an epic rated showdown making them 2-0 against the SEC!  Bring it the fuck on!

I have to believe that SEC bias is going to screw us on this, but damn it I want to be wrong. If we end up #1, it might actually restore my faith in humanity.

I seriously think they fixed the Alabama and Georgia game so that 2 SEC teams will be in the playoff. They didn’t want Notre Dame to get in with their HC leaving. I say they should rematch and have Michigan play Cincinnati.
