He did not ask for it, but here is some career advice for Dantonio:

Don't ever leave MSU.

You found your niche. You were born for this.

And I'm not even being critical. He excells in his us-against-the-world role. Nobody does it better.

It's a skill and it's worked well for him. I can't even begrudge his success with it.

It's rather impressive really.

8-3 against your biggest rival, best records in 50 years.  Sure 2016 was a major disaster but Dantonio isn't going anywhere and if State fires him they are delusional.  From the sounds of it they got rid of some bad apples in their locker room and their team has really come together.  I think they'll be East favorites next year, and heck if they can knock of OSU or PSU they might even be east champs again this year.

When Dantonio hopped off the bus yesterday you could tell he wasn't worried or concerned at all. Just smiled and smirked at the UM fans who were booing him, and his team loved it.

My first instinct was to reply that we need to bring the same intensity to our rivalry games that MSU/OSU/Rutgers do. But yesterday clearly showed our lack of talent -- and coaching to maximize the talent we do have -- on the offensive side of the ball.

Our QB shows flashes, but isn't at a level we'd like, our RBs don't show consistent ability, our WRs are young and can't get consistently open, and our OL is a tire fire. With all that, we do have some talent, but there is a clear lack of coaching ability on this offense. No one seems to improve! Adding to that, the offensive gameplanning is not cohesive and lacks the creativity that can make up for talent deficiencies. When we lack coaching and talent, not much can be done.

That being said, D'Antonio and Meyer seem to get their teams to play nasty and able to impose their will on other teams. Where's our edge?

Yes he's an unimaginable tool, but who's stopping him?

Beating him should have been really, really easy. All the offense had to do was wait until AFTER the game to take a dump, and they couldn't even manage that.

Nothing's going to change until Michigan pops some immodium and whoops State's ass like they should.

I've always respected Dantonio as a coach, but I think some of you guys are giving him a little too much credit. They had a few nice plays, but otherwise got stuffed. They were gifted five turnovers and a storm that came at just the right time for them, and they still almost lost. Mark does not have a very good team this year, and this wasn't a coaching job for the ages by him... Michigan just completely imploded on the offensive end. I don't think Dantonio had a whole lot to do with Michigan's poor gameplan, playcalling, and execution on offense. Again, they had a few nice plays, but overall they were mediocre. Our guys were just far worse.
