Not digging into this beyond…

Not digging into this beyond what OP has posted, but I wonder how much Brohm leaving and Purdue hiring a DC played into this decision.

Also, I dont follow draft stock closely but they both strike me as late round picks so perhaps their best chance at making the next level is being healthy.

I'm sure their agents are spinning this as they are focused on prep for the draft to any scout who would have an issue with it.

Cost a playoff appearance…

Cost a playoff appearance but guranteed a 2nd and maybe 3rd NY6 bowl participant.

I always assumed the…

I always assumed the coaching staff on those teams just moved all their best talent to the offense.  Like if a talented guy is a WR/DB he becomes a WR, same for RB/LB and OL/DL.  So you end up with a 4/5 star offense but a 2/3 star defense.  Could be wrong though.

I'd reply the winged helmet…

I'd reply the winged helmet defines UM football.  And the blue pants makes the maize wings standout.

Food for thought

I heard Pat Caputo say…

I heard Pat Caputo say unironically on the radio yesterday morning that "in March 2020 when MSU hired Tucker that he (Caputo) preferred Tucker over Fickell."

The media sets their narrative and just runs with it.  Don't take it too seriously.

I mean the only thing that…

I mean the only thing that held us back was losses to OSU in '16 and '18.  Win those games and the tenor is much different

It is the traditional look…

It is the traditional look. I do like the blue pants both home and away since it makes the maize in the helmets stand out.

Roger that.  I'll defer to…

Roger that.  I'll defer to your expertise on the matter

You have to be careful with…

You have to be careful with that.  Generally speaking, not all States have identical laws regarding self defense, you can only use deadly force if you fear for your life or someone else's life.

As much as we love our pets and consider them family members, in the eyes of the law they are property.  Generally you can not use deadly force to defend property.

If your local laws allow it you should carry some kind of spray and use that on an aggressive dog rather than deadly force.  That will keep you out of jail and away from prosecutors evaluating the reasonableness of your use of force.

Open carry laws have little to do with self defense laws.  Just because you can carry doesnt mean you will be justified in use.

The good news is that…

The good news is that Harbaugh is only 0-5 against OSU since we didnt play last year.

The good news is that…

The good news is that Harbaugh is only 0-5 against OSU since we didnt play last year.

I'd take Shea over what we…

I'd take Shea over what we have coming back for '21. But objectively Shea is a bust. He was the top rated QB by all the services.  Scout, Rivals, and 247 had him as a 5 star, ESPN had him as a 4 star.   He went undrafted and now is trying out the CFL.   Imagine that, a top rated player at his position coming out of high school, who started games in all 4 years of his eligibility in P5 conference, doesn't even get drafted.  Huge bust.

Shea never beat OSU, never won a bowl game, beat ND, Wisconsin, and PSU at home but lost to those teams on the road.  He was 2-0 against a pair of 6-6 MSU teams though.

The scary thing to me is…

The scary thing to me is that with a young team and young staff, if they get a record around 7-5 Harbaugh can say that is a big improvement over 2-4 and convince Warde to keep Harbaugh for 2022.

How much did the…

How much did the Northwestern Bag Men promise him?

Generally speaking I can't…

Generally speaking I can't see how telling someone to "Get the fuck out of here" is de-escalating.

you could probably save it…

you could probably save it in a .txt file and save on the word doc format overhead.

Are the Chargers that much…

Are the Chargers that much better of an organization?

Look to see who is out there…

Look to see who is out there, but if you don't see a guy that you think can be your starter we should probably pass.

Can we call Dylan McCaffrey and say we are sorry?

I'd like to add that…

I'd like to add that marginally better in every category adds up to cumulatively better player.

Rivers > Stafford

Better…

Rivers > Stafford

Better Completion percentage, better YPA, better TD/INT ratio, better passer rating, and better playoff win record.

There is a reason Rivers is an 8 time pro-bowler and Stafford is only a 1 timer and it isn't the extra five years Rivers has had in his career so far.

12 credits in fall/winter is…

12 credits in fall/winter is the minimum to be considered a full time student.

6 credits in spring/summer is the maximum if I recall correctly.

If you took 16 credits in the first three Winter Semesters you could graduate after the Fall of your Junior year.

That is the credit math to get there.

Time management, academic rigor, academic support, sports participation are all individual factors that may make this plan unattainable.

If you enroll early and max…

If you enroll early and max out spring and summer credits you can easily graduate after your Junior year.  Here is a plan to get to 120 credits by then.

Early Enrollee Winter: 12 credits

Spring: 6 credits

Summer; 6 credits

Freshman Fall: 12 credits

Freshman Winter: 12 credits

Sophmore Fall: 12 credits

We are doing a rebuild this…

We are doing a rebuild this year.  Its just that Harbaugh gets to do it.

At some point he is going to have to beat OSU.  Even John Cooper beat us twice...

Genetics help, but anybody…

Genetics help, but anybody can maximize their potential by working out and eating healthy.  It helps to get paid millions of dollars to do exactly that.

I hear Brady will be looking…

I hear Brady will be looking for a new contract after next season (2021).  He might be worth looking into...

/s - I can't help but shade Kraft and Belichick for not offering him a 2 year deal.

Assuming we are including…

Assuming we are including the bowl game so 10-3 is the season record.

If our 3 losses include OSU and the bowl game is it enough to stay?

Any thought to how the…

Any thought to how the amoeba defense will work disguising their shifts pre-snap on the wider hash fields of college?

I'm wondering if this defense works in the NFL but in college will tip its hand too much.

One season he tore his ACL. …

One season he tore his ACL.  So if you say seasons that Tom Brady plays out fully its 50% chance of making the super bowl.

Nope.  Big Sky conference…

Nope.  Big Sky conference postponed their 2020 season to feb and mar of '21

Could work out well.

Could work out well.

Play the 2020 season at NoCO, show off your talents and then transfer somewhere else with 2 years of eligibility left

Out of curiosity, what were…

Out of curiosity, what were Don Brown's demands for the DT position?

He is worth every penny.

He is worth every penny.

How does a public school…

How does a public school football program recruit 5 counties?

Considering the ridge of the…

Considering the ridge of the Smokie Mountains is the border between TN and NC this is a well known weather phenomena.

Who?!?

Who?!?

I like Brady solely because…

I like Brady solely because he went to Michigan.

Objectively if Brady didn't have a Michigan connection I would probably not be a fan, although still recognize him as the GOAT.

In high school our coach…

In high school our coach talked about the difference between playing hurt and playing injured.  At some point in the football season everyone is hurt.  But you can play hurt so long as you aren't negatively impacting the team or your health.  You can't play injured.

So how Harbaugh let Milton play with a broken thumb on his throwing hand when it was clearly bothering Milton and causing accuracy issues (hurting the team) is terrible.

4 or 5 years.  I think he…

4 or 5 years.  I think he makes the playoffs by year 3.

Just need the Day to PHI news

Rudock was knocked out of…

Rudock was knocked out of two games in 2015, Minnesota and OSU.

Explains the accuracy issues…

Explains the accuracy issues.

But why are the coaches letting a kid play with a broken thumb on his throwing hand?

If he is so great.... Why…

If he is so great.... Why did we just hire a RB coach when we have vacancies at other position groups?

This is the 2nd time in 6 seasons that we've hired a position coach for the position that Jay was coaching.  Moore for TE and now Hart for RBs.    Now Jay is solely going to be the Special Teams coach, but even there we've struggled the last few years.  Nordin didn't live up to expectations.

At what point do we recognize that Jay is just a $350K favor to Jim?  In the corporate world there are ethical rules about having a relative as a direct report and financial involvement if it benefits your family.

So Jay now has fewer…

So Jay now has fewer responsibilities....  does he have lower pay in line with his fewer responsibilities?

Mike McCarthy too.  Although…

Mike McCarthy too.  Although the falling out with Rodgers is concerning.

that it is.

that it is.

Vrabel isn't going to OSU.

Vrabel isn't going to OSU.

1. He is a pretty successful NFL head coach right now.

2. When he was on Taylor Lewan's podcast he talked about he didn't like the recruiting aspect of coaching in college.

This is why there shouldn't…

This is why there shouldn't be any polls done until Halloween.

There are two fundamental…

There are two fundamental differences between FBS and FCS football.  1. is the post season.  FBS has the CFP and bowls while the FCS has the NCAA Division 1 tournament.  2. is the number of scholarships for each program.  FBS allows 85 equivalency and head count a while FCS allows 63 equivalency and no head count limit.

D1 basketball has tiny schools competing against P5 teams and it is very popular. What makes you think college football couldn't do the same?

Ideally, the NFL would setup like a practice squad league and allow 18-21 year olds to be signed to practice squad and participate in X number of games per year against other practice squad guys.

Who is determining the…

Who is determining the recruiting rankings?

I feel like they'd just get manipulated to the benefit of certain programs

In the Ole Miss and…

In the Ole Miss and Tennessee case the program knew what was going on.  Hugh Freeze was arranging escorts on his work issued phone for crying out loud.

A good bagmen network gives the program plausible deniability because the program doesn't know who these guys are and they aren't seeking recognition.  Just making sure that the "decision makers" in the recruits life are "taken care of".   Read the bagmen article. It is fascinating.

Even in Tressell's case.  He didn't get in trouble because Pryor and the guys were selling apparel and getting free tattoos.  He got in trouble because when he found out about through an email from IIRC a booster who was was an attorney it he didn't report it.

Reduce the scholarship limit…
  • Reduce the scholarship limit drastically, at least to 65, maybe even to the NFL limit of 53
    • Reply -> This is called FCS football
  • Eliminate 3 year requirement for NFL draft entry
    • Rebly -> This is not something the NCAA can control.  the 3 year requirement is an NFL rule.  Probably 100% supported by the NFLPA if you looked into it.
