I believe Krabbenhoft had a fly on his head that Juwan was trying to shoo away.

Seriously, keep your hands off my players homey. 3-game suspension for Juwan and let's nab that 8-seed and shock the world.

lmso, yall showing your colors here.

Grown ass multi-millionaire professionals hitting each other over sports-ball setting a great example for how young men and women should behave.

Everyone involved in this situation should be fired.

Gard has the audacity to grab his arm AND step in his path and stop Juwan's ability to leave the court and/or go the fuck where ever he wanted...hell maybe he had to take a shit. 100% instigated by Gard...

You don't step in front of anyone like that..as if YOU are dealing with someone you think is beneath you...no way. Not unless you are trying to start some shit...and that is exactly what happened.

But of course one might expect Juwan to accept Gard's advances, let his put his hands on him, stand there a listen to his BS, bow his head and walk away. And that may be the better approach..but in that moment, under those circumstances, I can see how Juwan was like WTF is he doing..putting his hands on me, stepping into my space and trying to force me to engage with him...And then to see his players being manhandled by the Gards coaching staff.

And there could very well be a subtext of race (real or perceived) in this...as there is within many power dynamics in America..but there is no way to figure that one out..or even to really discuss it.

Now...Juwan will be suspended, maybe fired..who knows. Its going to hurt him and his career and at least in the short term the team too. So, I really hope he figures out a way to deal with similar situations differently.

Yes, the Wisconsin HC and Assistant were 100% in the wrong. 100%.  Wisconsin was the instigator in this instance and they need to take responsibility for their part. That's just an aside and that's for Wisconsin to handle.

For our part, (Michigan) you can't have your HC pimp slapping anyone. You just can't. Howard needed to do a 180 and walk away from Wisconsin's HC and avoid this situation. I understand the heat of the moment, but when you make millions of dollars and are the "example" for the kids underneath you and a representative of the University, you HAVE to be able to avoid this. It's part of your job description.

Because he was not the instigator, I think this saves his job. However this does not save his reputation. Howard needs to sincerely apologize for his actions and for the students as well. Everyone involved needs to sit out a few games and maybe Howard suspended without pay until the end of the season while taking anger management classes. Something needs to be done besides a 1 game suspension.

I don't like this any more than the next guy but the hammer has to come down hard on Howard to justify keeping his position.

There will be few, if any, better chances for fans to embarrass themselves than by defending this in any way, shape, or form.  He should be fired, plain and simple.

As if I needed more reasons to hate Brad Davison, hearing him try to get his teammates to sing their post-game song right in the middle of this madness adds another to the list.

The Big Ten coaches are basically a fraternity, and for one of them to go off like this, and even after going off verbally, to then throw a punch?

Just an awful look.  There's no sense in which this was "provoked."  Given the context of the handshake line where everyone's in close quarters on purpose, to say, "He touched me" by way of justification is really lame.

Not sure if it's a firing offense, but it's really poor conduct at the very least by a middle-aged M grad in a public-facing position of leadership.

As to "Chicago."  I grew up in kind of a sheltered, small home town BITD and was always ecstatic when I could get back to Ann Arbor for school.  I was always under the impression that a big part of the animating purpose of a college like Michigan was to get the small town and the "Chicago" out of you.  Here's the punchline:  I was under that impression, because that *was* what a college like Michigan was believed to be for.  At some point, the fatuous notions of "staying true" and "keeping it real" eroded that.   Never understood why.  Why would I want to "stay true" to that?

Juwan was wrong, no exceptions.

Gard thinking it was okay to grab Juwan regardless the situation is wrong, no exceptions.

I do not believe this incident occurs if Gard had not instigated it by grabbing Juwan.

It's a physical sport, emotions run high, both coaches had issues with the other, both were wrong.

Juwan striking Krabbenhoft crossed every imaginable line of acceptability and will result in punishment but I would love to hear what Krabbenhoft said before Juwan struck him. Not that it justifies Juwan's action but I would still like to know because something set him off and you can tell by the Michigan players that he said something because a couple of them reacted and appeared it was to something Krabbenhoft  said.

One think that people have mentioned that a lot of other people are missing is that Howard didn't just slap Gard after the handshake. He was separated and everything and only slapped once that Wisconsin guy pushed Faulds and Williams. Now if him and Gard just got into an argument, no one cares.

Once again, Howard is an idiot and should haven't done anything. It's clear though that he was instigated by that action. Obviously it was completely wrong to do it, but that singular event was instigated by Wisconsin. Them having their AD answer questions like a lawyer, saying they have no blame and did nothing wrong whatsover is crazy. I mean you also had a player sucker punch another player in the face, how can you possibly do no wrong?

I don't think any of this is relevant.  Coaches need to set the example.  Howard failed his team, his son and his University.  It's all very sad.  He needs help - I'm willing to support him, but he needs to acknowledge he has a problem and takes steps to improve himself.

So Gard not only escalated the situation verbally, but also started the physical contact? Sounds like he certainly played a part in how this went down despite what a lot of people care to admit

Juwan was definitely wrong for aggressively caressing that douche's face (dirty player, now dirty bag man, and .... whatever he said/did here). Juwan was also wrong for being so mad about that timeout. But Gard was wrong for grabbing him and goading him with his 'oh youre a big man huh?' talk. That assistant was wrong for diving in and shoving players and dropping f bombs on everyone. That other assistant was wrong for tackling twill. Neath was wrong for sucker punching twill. If red neck wrestling fan assistant coach doing the thigh chop suck it wasnt one of the aforementioned assistants than hes in the wrong too. I've got no problem with anyone else, i don't blame twill or diabate for swinging back at that sucker punching ass. Them and everyone else seemed to be trying to de-escalate. It's crazy that all the people acting childish were adults except the one Wiscy sucker puncher.
