Clay Helto retained at USC
December 4th, 2019 at 5:25 PM ^
Is this legit? There have been "breaking" tweets about him being fired or being kept for days now.
December 4th, 2019 at 5:49 PM ^
So all the assistants are packing their bags as we speak. Good luck fellas.
December 4th, 2019 at 6:33 PM ^
If he worked for you Vald, would you demote him assistant offensive line coach for the Irkutsk Elk of the G(ulag)FL?
December 4th, 2019 at 8:15 PM ^
No. Helton (and the AD who came over to help) would tragically fall out of his 4th floor apartment window while trying to install (personally) his new jacuzzi.
Later that day, a "surprised" (but ALWAYS prepared) Vlad would stoically introduce Urban Meyer, riding into the Colosseum shirtless on a horse.
The usual.

What??? No Polonium?
December 4th, 2019 at 5:25 PM ^
Urbz to MSU. Ha. No, not really Sparties.
December 4th, 2019 at 5:30 PM ^
Urbz to...
December 4th, 2019 at 5:53 PM ^
UFM-A2 still in play
December 4th, 2019 at 6:25 PM ^
Marist High School? Love those guys.
December 4th, 2019 at 6:02 PM ^
Ryan Day will go to Cleveland and OSU go right back to Meyer.
December 4th, 2019 at 6:56 PM ^
I hate how plausible that is. I continue to believe that the most likely spot for Urban to coach at next is Ohio State again
December 5th, 2019 at 1:39 AM ^
I believe this is year 3 of a 4 year plan between Urban and Day. Day turned down P-5 HC jobs after ‘17 to stay on as OC
OSU retained all of Meyer’s key guys- Mariotti, Pantoni and Stamper and basically kept the day-to-day the same.
Day has two great years, goes to the NFL and refreshed Urban goes another 7 years. Day craps the bed next year, Meyer comes back.
Meyer opened a restaurant in town, has an office at OSU...he isn’t in a hurry to leave town.
The USC chatter was his agent pumping up his value. Guy made less than Harbaugh last year.
December 4th, 2019 at 5:26 PM ^
Clay Helton has also been retained
December 4th, 2019 at 7:41 PM ^
Bad news for Trojan fans. Terrible decision, I guarantee right now he's gone after another year. Their recruiting this year is simply awful, last I heard around 40 in the composite, which for USC is a disaster. They have no o-lineman above 3 star, and Tim Drevno coaching. All they did was lose the chance for a coach guaranteed to have them in the playoff two years from now.
December 4th, 2019 at 9:55 PM ^
The best thing about the team, the OC Graham Harrell, is probably going to Texas.

December 5th, 2019 at 4:13 PM ^
I seen 67 rank
December 4th, 2019 at 5:27 PM ^
Helto was retained but what about Helton?
December 4th, 2019 at 6:45 PM ^
Helton lost his "n" like Rutgers lost its "s"
December 4th, 2019 at 5:29 PM ^
So they fired Helton and hired Helto?
December 4th, 2019 at 5:31 PM ^
Worked for Indiana, they fired DeBord and hired DeBoer
December 4th, 2019 at 5:31 PM ^
When girls say they want a nice guy, they mean a nice guy that DOESN’T masterbate to their pictures on instagram.
December 4th, 2019 at 5:36 PM ^
That’s...odd.
December 4th, 2019 at 5:50 PM ^
Well that the hell is Instagram FOR then?
December 4th, 2019 at 6:03 PM ^
If you are using instagram, do yourself a favor and check out pornhub.
Your life will be forever changed.
December 4th, 2019 at 9:38 PM ^
I once told a female co-worker to check out redtube. I told her there was actually a couple of shows her kids might like...I was referring to YouTube red. Apparently redtube is something totally different and now and forever she will think of me as a pervert.
December 4th, 2019 at 6:10 PM ^
Lmao I love it. I think this board needs more influence from Reddit, and the misc board at Bodybuilding
December 4th, 2019 at 8:46 PM ^
Well then who's picture should they use?
December 4th, 2019 at 5:36 PM ^
@Rya Kartje
Breakig: USC has chose to retai head football coach Clay Helto
December 4th, 2019 at 6:02 PM ^
Thaks, Quailma!
December 4th, 2019 at 5:42 PM ^
Not a shocker to those of us that follow USC out here in Cali...that said, a lot of people are not happy and he will constantly be on the hot seat...which is unfair to Coach, players, recruits, and the fans.
December 4th, 2019 at 6:34 PM ^
All the intel I hear from SC people: is the AD wanted to make a splash hire but didn’t have a commitment from his splash coach. Therefore, Clay is retained.
December 4th, 2019 at 6:41 PM ^
So if said coach does make a commitment, could Helton still be gone?
December 4th, 2019 at 7:14 PM ^
New President put the kibosh on new AD’s hope to hire Urbz...left them with little options with timing of everything. Attendance is down, recruiting it atrocious this year (even with crappy coaches and sanctions, SC still managed to get top 10 recruiting classes). Helton is going to get smoked by Saban in next year’s opener against Alabama...and after the first game boosters will be calling for a new coach again. Kind of a ridiculous situation.
December 4th, 2019 at 8:18 PM ^
Urban Meyer could still be available then.
December 5th, 2019 at 4:15 AM ^
Nope, this was vetted months ago
clay is in for the long hall
December 4th, 2019 at 8:22 PM ^
but didn’t have a commitment from his splash coach.
Probably only one splash coach out there. Maybe that one is holding out to see what happens with the Cowboys.
December 5th, 2019 at 12:44 AM ^
Jim McElwain is waiting to see what happens with the Cowboys?
December 5th, 2019 at 6:50 AM ^
Is Urban really thinking about trying his luck in the NFL? I really, really hope he does because he will be a colossal failure at that level and I would very much enjoy seeing St. Urbz fail.
December 4th, 2019 at 5:47 PM ^
Hello Helto
December 4th, 2019 at 6:05 PM ^
I kinda wonder if Urban at usc would hurt osu in recruiting.
December 4th, 2019 at 6:37 PM ^
I think it would have, which is why i wanted it to happen. Might have even snagged a few guys from OSU in the class ready sign. As many of them originally considered OSU when Meyer was still there.
December 5th, 2019 at 12:06 AM ^
USC getting Urban would hurt us first. Green-Warren our #1 corner option still on the board would go to uSC over M if Urban was hired.
December 4th, 2019 at 6:17 PM ^
Weird that they made him change his name. Must be some sort of power move by the AD.
December 4th, 2019 at 6:23 PM ^
Which probably means, urban said no
December 4th, 2019 at 6:30 PM ^
I'm kinda surprised UM fans are happy with this news. Urban set up OSU's national recruiting death star. He created a machine that continues to fuel Day's teams today and - likely - for years to come. No doubt, Urban would've repositioned many - if not most - of those pipelines away from Ohio and toward LA.
Also, a lot of the staff at OSU have loyal ties to Urban. I'm sure he would have thought about hiring a few of them away from Day (especially those he believes are the best recruiters).
The big winner in this scenario is OSU...again. I think this sucks.
December 4th, 2019 at 9:53 PM ^
Yep, I was really hoping Meyer would get the USC gig for all these reasons. With our luck Meyer will stay as an assistant AD at OSU for the next 15 years and keep pulling the strings behind the scenes there.
December 4th, 2019 at 6:40 PM ^
Did they leave the "N" off the coaches name because USC is rivals with Nebraska or some other team that begins with an "N"?
