Watch the media still rank OSU above UM going into next year, despite beating them the past 2 years, having the returning starting QB, and an absolutely loaded roster.

The media really is in love with recruiting rankings.  Not that it matters...we will break them again in November, and hopefully finally finish the job in the playoff against Bama or UGA.

Honestly I would prefer that. At this stage in my life, I always prefer to be the underdog. I've seen too many games where it appears we went in overconfident and fell on our face, most recently against TCU. Now maybe it wouldn't have made a difference, but I'd prefer to be the disrespected team with a chip on our shoulder than the overconfident favorite...

And an offense that was pretty one-dimensional.  OSU didn't run that well in either game.  But either way, Stroud wasn't their problem.  Arguably he's why those already-bad losses weren't a whole lot worse.  Remember all those circus catches in the 2021 game that kept OSU in contact with Michigan?

Stroud was an outstanding college QB. He was especially great against Georgia. He might end up going #1 in the draft. Ripping him is just a Michigan fandom thing for some people. In reality, the fact that a player of his caliber was the OSU QB in both of those wins only makes them more impressive.

Precisely. Ripping Ohio State quarterbacks is a time honored tradition, not merely because they play for our rivals, but also they are universally system quarterbacks, who excel in college with a massive talent disparity in their favor, but who have in almost no way been prepared to play against NFL defenses, leading to us delighting in claiming their amateur success illusory.

I did see he was the second highest paid player in NIL which paid him 2.5 million last year so he wouldn't have actually been hurting to stay another year, but the thought of getting his ass handed to him by Michigan again and going down in history as the greatest quarterback at OSU to have never won a B10 championship probably moved the needle.

Not sure if The Game or the B1G mean that much to OSU anymore. Oh I’m sure the fans and some of the players are still crushed, but the way they played, it seems one reason OSU gets so many 5-stars is that college ball is just an NFL finishing school to them. They’ll win it again, maybe even the next one, but  Stroud was an NFL draftee waiting to be eligible. He wasn’t gonna stick around.

That's a really interesting point and one I hadnt really thought of before.  With the diminishing number of impact players at OSU who are actually from Ohio the intensity of the rivalry diminishes as well.

You really cant teach hate in a couple of years.  I think our guys hated losing and being reminded they were getting their ass whipped by OSU on the regular more than they hate OSU itself.  Just like MSU hates being reminded they are "little brother" to us academically, athletically and in every other measureable we hated losing to OSU.

OSU winning the Game so many years in a row sort of destroyed the rivalry in the short term.  After 16 years it wasn't a challenge. Winning the National Champion was there thing.  Now that we're winning again, their going to care.  You don't make the CFP most years without winning the B1G and beating Michigan.  I'm hoping Day is Cooper 2.0.  Winning all but one or two games and one of the losses is to Michigan.

What is the method used to calculate the average?  Is it value to the average player,  average value to players who receive NIL, or....

In other words, suppose you have 85 players and 1 player gets $85, and the rest get nothing.  The average per NIL deal is $85 (only one deal), but the average per player is $1.

I believe most folks are concerned that we don’t do enough NIL for recruits.  The perception is you have to be here and contribute to get NIL.  While I can see how that makes sense, it also risks getting left behind with top talent. (Of course, it might not matter given the yearly Harbaugh to NFL drama.)
