Bret Beliema quote on tunnel incident
I was not oblivious to the fact of what started to get reported on Saturday night and I knew it would have a huge effect on my team,” Bielema said. “I know what Coach Tucker stands for, he’s a tremendous person. … We go to Michigan in two weeks so there’s things that I’m filing away right now that I’ll bring up that week when that moment comes.”
Is this idiot really gonna try to bring up negative shit on Michigan or Harbaugh to try and make light of what happened because he likes Mel?

Always an important lesson to revisit. I remind my kids of this every day before I drop them off at school:
Have a good day kids. Don’t assault anyone in the hallway. Love you!

Bert looks like Butthead with a dad bod that lost containment.
That said, give Sparty their 6th loss Bert. See you soon.
November 4th, 2022 at 7:45 AM ^
That is an insult to all of us dad-bods of the world.
November 4th, 2022 at 8:28 AM ^
Yeah, “dad bod” and “super fat” are not the same thing. Pretty sure I fall in the latter, with ambitions toward the former. (Starting next year). (Maybe).
November 4th, 2022 at 7:55 AM ^
Actually my late dad had the perfect description for a loser like Bielema: "looks like someone throw a bucket of assholes at him and they stuck!" Comments like his not only confirm that he looks like an asshole, also sounds like one! Stick to something you're an expert on lard ass "halloween candy".
November 4th, 2022 at 7:40 AM ^
Oh sure; Midnight Mel is a real stand up guy Bert.
November 4th, 2022 at 9:05 AM ^
That has to be one of the best game day signs ever.
November 4th, 2022 at 9:42 AM ^
And he's in pretty good shape in that picture, at least compared to modern day Bert
November 4th, 2022 at 7:45 AM ^
When it happened I figured the thing would get flipped onto Michigan somehow. Sounds like there are people that won’t say it but secretly blame M. Disgusting.
November 4th, 2022 at 7:48 AM ^
Eat another ten pounds of beef Bert. Come get your L.
November 4th, 2022 at 7:49 AM ^
Experienced coaches know the psychological benefits of buttering up their opponent before they play them. He will be praising Michigan football next week before we play them. Watch and see.
November 4th, 2022 at 7:53 AM ^
Take your loss.
Get the hell out of our tunnel.
November 4th, 2022 at 8:43 AM ^
Perfect take.
November 4th, 2022 at 8:50 AM ^
Well...I stole it from Brian.
November 4th, 2022 at 7:54 AM ^
If the tunnel now has opposing coaches worried, good. We know what happened, and if they want to waste time and energy worrying about it that’s a win.
November 4th, 2022 at 10:20 AM ^
There isn't a coach in the B1G, including Tucker (even though he should), that worries about Michigan's tunnel. For starters, all but one of them have sufficient discipline on their team to avoid something as stupid as many-on-one beatdowns, and they see the macking and displays of manliness for what it is, i.e. preening.
Fuck Bulge and the Clydesdale he rode in on.
November 4th, 2022 at 8:00 AM ^
Isn't that fat idiot the guy that said he wanted to go to the SEC because ther were no good coaches in the Big Ten?
November 4th, 2022 at 8:01 AM ^
I was thinking this is just some boilerplate "Big Ten coach is asked about tunnel assault and blames MSU" sort of quote, but I'd almost forgotten Bret Bielema is the kind of guy who thinks Dan Campbell's kneecaps speech should've been more literal.
November 4th, 2022 at 8:03 AM ^
Go ahead, Bert, attack Harbaugh's program as the instigator there. It's a bold strategy, lets see how it works out for you...
For most people that attack Harbaugh's program, staff, and/or players, it doesn't work out too well. And by "most people", I mean everyone. Seriously - ask Chris Ash how it worked when he fenced his Garden against all things evil (ie: UM). Ask Butch Jones and Gene Smith about what happens when you make unprovoked comments. There are so many other examples. Harbaugh's reputation largely exists because of how he replies to people that attack his program, his players, his staff, and his program's fans.
I challenge anyone to show me one Harbaugh attack that wasn't provoked by some attack on his charges.
So go ahead, Bert - make your comments because MeLLLLL is such a standup guy. This could get fun...
November 4th, 2022 at 1:05 PM ^
I think you are misinterpreting his comments.
November 4th, 2022 at 8:06 AM ^
I don't think it's the tunnel Bert should be worrying about, he has enough trouble on the sidewalk.
Let the fat man prep for something that won't happen. Idiot.
November 4th, 2022 at 8:08 AM ^
Probably still salty about being upset in 2008 when he had a top 10 team. I'll never forget that sneering "Michigan is ripe for the kicking" comment he made in '09 or so.
November 4th, 2022 at 8:10 AM ^
Jim, with IL coming to town in a couple weeks, how do you approach that game prep?
November 4th, 2022 at 8:12 AM ^
I'm not sure what language Bert is speaking here but I don't think it is English.
Not worth reading anything into it. He'll say whatever he's going to say when it's Michigan week.
November 4th, 2022 at 8:12 AM ^
It's clear that Bert is going to try to use this game versus Michigan to try to get his program some national attention win or lose. Need to pummel them.
November 4th, 2022 at 8:16 AM ^
Winner gets Jyaire Hill. I like Michigan's chances.
November 4th, 2022 at 8:21 AM ^
oh, file away another doughnut, fat boy.
November 4th, 2022 at 8:21 AM ^
"We go to Michigan in two weeks so there’s things that I’m filing away right now that I’ll bring up that week when that moment comes."
What moment is that exactly, Bret? I mean, we were going to have you wordlessly consume a pot roast at midfield during the halftime show, but if you'd rather not....
November 4th, 2022 at 8:22 AM ^
Kick his ass on the field and he can forget all about the fucking tunnel. Illinois and their stupid fans are the worst.
November 4th, 2022 at 9:37 AM ^
Michigan State fans are seething at your disrespekt!
November 4th, 2022 at 8:33 AM ^
Kankakee (IL) 4 star CB Jyaire Hill will be on hand for the UM-Ill game. It's pretty much down to these 2 schools for his services. The On3 predictor has 88% for him going to Ill...Let's pound them and maybe take a recruit in the process.
November 4th, 2022 at 8:39 AM ^
There is some. . . antagonism toward Michigan in Illinois. Not unrelated to being a strong institution but one with far less stature than Michigan. Have noted it among grad student friends. There's been a bit of an unhealthy slurpfest going on here for Bielema here for the last few weeks that mystified me; that will die back quickly when cooler heads recall what an absolute dickhead he can be.
November 4th, 2022 at 8:40 AM ^
It's funny because I never think about Illinois to the point where I forget they are in the big ten.
November 4th, 2022 at 9:05 AM ^
Illinois was a very rancorous football opponent back in the 90s & 2000s... and with a continuously petulant basketball fanbase the last few decades.
November 4th, 2022 at 11:57 AM ^
ill never forget stauskas cold 3 at the end of the half and the student section jazz hands trying to bewitch him.
November 4th, 2022 at 8:40 AM ^
Bert is just filing away things because he heard there's food in the tunnel because, you know, he's fat...
November 4th, 2022 at 8:43 AM ^
Bort Bieljama eats butter by the pound
That guy can collectively eat all our butts
November 4th, 2022 at 9:43 AM ^
I hope someone throws him some PB&Js at halftime, wouldn't want him to pass out on the sidelines in the second half from lack of food.
November 4th, 2022 at 10:22 AM ^
Maybe it would be better to install a slip 'n slide for him to cruise down to the field and a conveyor belt to haul his ass back up to the locker rooms. Would certainly save him lots of trouble.
November 4th, 2022 at 11:39 AM ^
For a while I was calling him Burnt Enema here, but it didn't catch on. Timing is everything, even with the best ideas. Still, I was a little hurt.
November 4th, 2022 at 8:45 AM ^
Maybe it's coach speak for "We're playing Michigan State this week. I'll talk about Michigan next week."
Hard to say for sure, but he was probably thinking about ham.
November 4th, 2022 at 11:39 AM ^
Coming or going.
November 4th, 2022 at 8:46 AM ^
I really don’t understand how Bert’s quote is supposed to offend me or anyone else.
He talked about using last week’s tunnel attack as a teaching moment when his team plays here in a couple of weeks.
Link of the actual quote below:
November 4th, 2022 at 8:55 AM ^
Exactly. Also, Mel has publicly taken responsibility for the incident, and has not been blaming anything on Michigan. So Bert agreeing with Mel doesn't mean he's blaming anything on Harbaugh or UM either.
God, I can't believe OP is making me defend Bert. I need to take a shower now because I feel so gross.
November 4th, 2022 at 9:14 AM ^
He could have meant absolutely nothing by it but he kind of alluded to the fact that there is “more to come” at a later date by filing it away until that week. Bert has a history of being an antagonistic turd so it’s not like this a major jump to conclusions. It’ll be interesting to see what pops up that week from their side. Could be something, could be nothing. Thought it was an interesting quote is all.
November 4th, 2022 at 9:20 AM ^
Starts at 14 minutes. Honestly, this whole thread is a terrible take. Bret didn’t say anything negative.
November 4th, 2022 at 11:02 AM ^
Yes. Thanks to the other guy above for the link and thanks to you for the timestamp. This is a total nothing. No offense was intended by Bret. It's impossible to actually take offense. Sure, if you chop up the quote and eliminate the context, you can read into whatever you want.
This thread should not exist but...oh well.
November 4th, 2022 at 8:48 AM ^
Listen Bert, you'll have the tunnel all to yourself. There should be just enough room for you to squeeze through.
November 4th, 2022 at 8:49 AM ^
Bielema is such a meathead. Decent coach, but he seems to get in trouble any time he talks about anything other than football.
