Big Ten Basketball Saturday

A couple games of interest today.

Maryland @ Minnesota playing right now. Gophers had more turnovers (4) than points (3) after the first 7+ minutes of play.

Osu @ Wisconsin on CBS  4pm.

Who do you want to win?

OSU-Wisconsin is a reverse-meteor situation: either result is quite acceptable.  Wisconsin losing is certainly good for us, and OSU losing is good because of the LOL factor.

Anyone notice that after we beat a blazing hot Purdue team last night by 17 that all of the sudden the Purdue hype is just gone? "Oh they're a young team." I'm getting so tired of this team beating good opponents then all of the sudden the team we beat isn't considered good anymore

Eh, I think Purdue playing 40 minutes without Stefanovic is a bigger hardship to them than us playing a few minutes without a true 5 in the game.  A better comparison would probably be us having to play without Brooks at Minnesota (which did not go well for us either).

Regardless, we took care of business and I don't see too many people in the media doubting us.

Baylor has the first ranked defense on kenpom, but they allowed 36 first-half points to a Cunningham-less Oklahoma State, whose offense is ranked 53rd even with him. They’re down 3 at halftime.

Being a Maryland fan must be a painful experience.  Bad Minnesota showed up today and Maryland is struggling to make something out of it.  Must be even more painful to be a Gopher fan knowing that it is coin toss whether your team is going to play like a Sweet 16 team or a D-III team.

Baylor probably pulls away by double digits with oklahoma state without Cade Cunningham (and another player) but I haven’t been that impressed. May just be an off game for them.

We should be the #2 team in the country. We are better than Baylor. Oklahoma St (without Cade Cunningham) has been sticking with Baylor for 3/4 of this game and they barely run an offense or defense

Wisconsin losing is better for Michigan’s big ten title hopes. Keep them and Iowa as much at arm’s length as possible. But I’m not going to be upset if OSU loses, either.

Watching them fail at anything is always enjoyable.

Maryland has beaten Wisconsin, Illinois, and Minnesota all on the road—where they are 30-4 with 3 of the 4 losses coming to Maryland. And yet they haven’t won at home yet—so weird.

To be fair to Maryland, their schedule has been bonkers.  Their home losses are to Rutgers (when they weren’t ass), Iowa, and Michigan.  The Nebraska game was postponed.  They don’t really get a break schedule wise but will have many more opportunities to win some home games against some good teams.

Probably a combination of them looking like dogshit and OSU playing well.  OSU is a hard team to gauge.  They now have beaten an unreal five straight top 10 teams in a row but yet will go out and lose to a bottom team the next time out.  Dangerous one night - sloppy the next
