Assistant Coaches Pay
February 4th, 2021 at 3:36 PM ^
Macdonald getting paid. John must have talked him up to get that much as a first time DC.
February 4th, 2021 at 3:38 PM ^
Wonder what he made at the Ravens. This has got to be a nice healthy raise for him
February 4th, 2021 at 3:37 PM ^

Shoop earned $450K without doing any work? What a gig!
February 4th, 2021 at 4:16 PM ^
Don Brown made $1.7 million and did no work!
February 4th, 2021 at 5:55 PM ^
Boom roasted!
February 4th, 2021 at 7:01 PM ^
Harbaugh made 8 and did less.
February 4th, 2021 at 9:23 PM ^
This is the Kevin Steele Employment Plan
February 4th, 2021 at 3:41 PM ^
Got anymore of those Shoop jobs laying around? I'd take 450k for not showing up to work.
February 4th, 2021 at 4:22 PM ^
Call me Salt n Pepa I’d be shoopin for $450k.
February 4th, 2021 at 4:33 PM ^
Should've bought some game stock last week... /s
February 4th, 2021 at 4:42 PM ^
I wanna be a career backup QB in the NFL.
February 4th, 2021 at 3:49 PM ^
Don brown ???
February 4th, 2021 at 3:59 PM ^
Honestly surprised Linguist is that low. And Moore.
February 4th, 2021 at 3:41 PM ^
Bellamy already deserves a raise
February 4th, 2021 at 3:48 PM ^
No idea what he made in West Bloom. Online says a high school football coach makes an average of 40.8k a year in Michigan, with ~75k being the highest.
February 4th, 2021 at 5:48 PM ^
Those numbers seem fair, I was going to add that he couldn’t have been making too much as a public school teacher. Even if he was (rightly) maxed out, he got a hefty pay raise!
February 4th, 2021 at 7:33 PM ^
He was a public school teacher not at the top of the pay scale. Public record. He about tripled his salary.

Seems low for Hart, hope he has some escalators in his contract.
February 4th, 2021 at 3:45 PM ^
According to the usatoday sheet, he made 375k last year with Indiana
February 4th, 2021 at 3:59 PM ^
With the AHC tag on him too.
February 4th, 2021 at 4:04 PM ^
What exactly is an Associate Head Coach? Is that the same as an Assistant HC?
February 4th, 2021 at 4:14 PM ^
Sort of like Assistant to the Regional Manager. Or is that Assistant Regional Manager.
February 4th, 2021 at 5:29 PM ^
A title to warrant giving a pay raise to keep them on staff.
February 4th, 2021 at 3:56 PM ^
How so? He made $375k at Indiana, and that was with an associate head coach title. Indiana ranked in the bottom half of the conference in yards per game and yards per carry each year Hart was there and Stevie Scott had his yards per carry drop each year under Hart as well. He parlayed all of that into a $40k raise.
Not sure how you warrant that being low pay for a running backs coach that has some question marks in regards his unit’s production at his previous stop. As much as we all loved Hart as a player here and the upside he has as a recruiter for Michigan, he’s not exactly the hottest name in the country.
February 5th, 2021 at 10:48 AM ^
Hart was the RB coach. He was not the OL coach, or offensive coordinator. That’s important to remember.
February 4th, 2021 at 4:44 PM ^
IDK if Hart's salary being low is what struck me but that Jaybaugh == Hart.
February 4th, 2021 at 3:43 PM ^
For reference, Lloyd Carr made about $900,000 in his last season coaching Michigan, and Jim Tressel made $645,000 (including bonuses) the year he won a national championship.
This is why everybody hates lawyers (especially ones who become agents).
February 4th, 2021 at 3:54 PM ^
That was before the B1G network, that's MAC level money these days.
February 4th, 2021 at 5:11 PM ^
So the MAC Network has also inflated MAC coaching salaries in recent years?!
February 4th, 2021 at 5:17 PM ^
I think the Shoop situation highlights why people don’t like lawyers. Usually you get paid to work, if you don’t work, you shouldn’t get paid. But I’m sure language in his contract or a lawyer taking action against the university made it easier to just pay him to do nothing.
February 4th, 2021 at 6:16 PM ^
Why are lawyers getting dragged into a conversation about pay for coaches? Makes no sense to me. Lawyers aren't setting the market value. Schools are.
February 4th, 2021 at 6:42 PM ^
That’s exactly something a lawyer would say!
February 4th, 2021 at 9:06 PM ^
As a lawyer I can tell you everybody hates lawyers except their own. In all fairness there are a lot of lawyers that I don't like.
February 4th, 2021 at 11:36 PM ^
Dammit, now I like you.
February 4th, 2021 at 3:51 PM ^
How nice it is to give your son $415k a year.
February 4th, 2021 at 3:57 PM ^
Enough with that BS, Jay Harbaugh earns his salary. All the evidence says he is a pretty good coach.
February 4th, 2021 at 5:44 PM ^
Count me in the group that is still skeptical. He's just had a bunch of jobs working for family
February 4th, 2021 at 7:19 PM ^
Coached a Mackey award winner the last time he coached tight ends but ok. Coached a record breaking freshman running back but sure... recruited Donovan Edwards, Zach Charbonnet, Devin Asiasi, Tarik Black, Blake Corum, Mustapha Muhammed, and Giles Jackson as the primary. Secondary recruiter for Xavier Worthy and Dylan McCaffrey. Say what you want about how those all panned out, they were highly coveted prospects and he only coached 3 of them for no more than 2 years... but sure, he's not proven himself.
February 4th, 2021 at 4:00 PM ^
JayBaugh earns his salary.
February 4th, 2021 at 4:07 PM ^
Responsible for every back in the RB room, with the exception of maybe Donovan Edward's, who I believe that was all Bellamy.
February 4th, 2021 at 4:59 PM ^
Well he’s earned it sooooo...
February 4th, 2021 at 5:28 PM ^
Him and Gattis are the only leftovers who didn’t get a raise. Nua and Moore both got one. Hell, Jay, for coaching ability, recruiting and longevity needs one as much as anyone.
February 4th, 2021 at 6:42 PM ^
I think M's coordinator's have been getting 3 year deals and assistants are getting two years.
Some contracts expired after the end of last season, (Nua, Moore, Zordich, Warinner, McDaniels) and others had another year to go. Jean Mary had that raise written into his contract when he signed last year.
February 5th, 2021 at 7:43 AM ^
Jay would be worth that for recruiting alone. He’s done pretty well at the positions he’s coached. Last year seemed to have to do more with rotation than anything else. There’s things to be upset about during the Harbaugh regime but Jay isn’t one of them.
February 4th, 2021 at 3:56 PM ^
Ron B goes from probably 90K as a teacher/coach to $225K. Nice get for both...
February 4th, 2021 at 4:11 PM ^
That's a lotta buckolas
