I've liked him in the booth since he was calling NFL games back in the day. For a BTN game, I'll take Millen all day long compared to the other choices.

Millen has definitely lost his fastball from the 1990s NFL games on CBS and FOX.
But he's still alright. It could be significantly worse. Petros on those late night Pac-12 games on the Fox Networks - oh dear is he bad.
Someone I think is actually good is J Lemen. But FOX seemingly assigns him to nothing but Grade-Z games on BTN, games that invariably include Illinois.

Brandstatter as an analyst was quite good. Better IMO that Millen. As a play by play man Brandstatter is terrible. And he would be bad calling a high school game. I feel bad saying that but it's true.

Problem is, people will complain regardless who is calling the game. It doesn’t matter if they listen to the television broadcast or the radio people will complain.

At least we get to hear Millen announce, but man we really missed an opportunity when he stepped down from the Lions. People talk about Les Miles but this is the one that gets me. Sometimes I lie awake thinking "What if..."

Honestly I enjoy Millen as an announcer. He's kind of fun and seems to try to insert a little extra fun/weird knowledge that keeps things interesting. Once in a while he messes up, but I prefer that over an announcer that just spews the same things over and over. Really, I have no issue with most announcers. They all do a decent job for the most part and if they're too terrible I can just turn the sound down. I've never really had to do that, though.

Back in the 80s when a network would not pick up one of our games WJBK would broadcast the games with Ray Lane and Brandy doing color! I wonder if Lane is still alive?
