Alabama G Nimari Burnett transfers to Michigan
Burnett was a top 40 combo guard who started his career at Texas Tech then transferred to Alabama and is now making his way to Ann Arbor
A lineup with Dug and Hunter as the base really isn't that bad. You have an All-American at center and and up and coming pg. Surround them with just average competent players that fit and you will have a better than average team.
I think you will have Dug-Lewllyn-Baker-TWill-Hunter. I can see that lineup going 10-10 to 12-8 in the Big 10. GW off the bench to backup Dug. Burnett to backup Lewllyn and Baker. Tschetter backing up TWill and Reed backing up HD and you have some depth.
That is a terrible team.

If he's here to replace Kobe, sheesh. If he's here to be a 3rd guard, I think it's a good risk. He wasn't very good at any of his stops, but he's had injuries and he has upside so I think you have to take the risk and hopefully he plays better. Llewellyn and Burnett as the first 2 guards off the bench I think will be solid, as long as Dug and Kobe are around.

Averaged 15 min game, 5.6 pts/game this past season. 37% FG, 32% 3pt FG.

Still the only question for our basketball roster is what is Hunter and Kobe doing? If they are leaving this means little. If they are staying this is a nice depth piece with a wing defender and someone who may be able to improve shooting numbers. If Hunter and Kobe leave you will need better then this to make a big impact on team overall record next season.

Hunter says he’s coming back. Kobe hasn’t said anything yet.
BREAKING NEWS!!! HUNTER IS BACK!!!
Hunter is sitting right next to you?

This guy committed to play for Chris Beard & then transferred to play for Nate Oats. Not a great judge of character, is he?

He's a kid, for f*ck's sake. It's basketball not a church group. What a moronic comment.

I mean as far as picking schools based on winning basketball games...I'd say Nimari has a really good eye!
Calm down buddy. Wife beater coach, murder enabling coach, and physical assault coach.
The kid sure can pick em.
You should just say what you mean:
- You genuinely believe Nimari Burnett to be an arcane being that has the shining and can see into the future OR
- You hate Juwan and this was just an excuse to shoehorn a complaint into
Ahhh, you showed your hand with this post. You don't actually care about the transfer or what it means for the team; youre just looking to take pot shots at Juwan.

I'm not sure how a 17/18 year old kid is supposed to predict that his coach will strangle his wife two years after committing. And though I'm not really a fan of having such low behavioral standards for a star athlete, I don't really think Nate Oats did anything out of the ordinary in the world of college athletics. He didn't have to kick his star player off the team, so why would he? I think that just makes him your average college coach sleazeball, not akin to a domestic abuser.
Kinda hoping Juwan wouldn't recruit kids that would shoot their girlfriends, but whatever.
You sound extremely confused about the circumstances.

Should have definitely asked Beard if he beats his wife when he was recruited.

The same Nate Oats many on this board clamored for after JB left?
No, the other one.

Can he play CB?

Likely means Kobe is NBA bound right?
March 30th, 2023 at 12:53 PM ^
Probably. (NBA draft .net currently has him as the 15th pick of the draft.)
Likely, after his NBA evaluation. NIL can't come close to an NBA lottery pick rookie contract.

My buddy and I have nicknames for each player on the team when we talk Michigan basketball. For example we call Hunter "Big Guy" we call Dug "Dig Dug" and we call Will Schetter "Cheese Boy"
I am going to tell my buddy we need to call Nimari Burnett "Nimrod"
March 30th, 2023 at 12:55 PM ^
A Mighty King and Hunter, huh? That's some pretty high expectations. What about Burnsy? Makes it sound like you know him and he's one of your buddies.
March 30th, 2023 at 12:57 PM ^
I used to call the old man funny names. Iron Butt. Boner. Once, I even called him asshole. But there was always respect. I always knew where the line was drawn. And you just stepped over it, buddy boy. You've insulted me, and you've insulted this company with that bastard creation of yours.
You do know that Nimrod means majestic hunter. What is wrong with calling him a majestic hunter, especially if he is hunting 3 point shots? I thought it was creative. Oh well, keep downvoting me.
I'm cashing you out, Bob...
I’d buy that for a dollar
Cmon, say it, car ramrod

I hope this isn’t bad news. For Kobe and for the team as Kobe is a much much better player.
Why would getting a guard when we only have 2 on the team have anything to do with Kobe?
We actually had 4 next year with Kobe prior to this addition - Dug, Kobe, GW3 coming in and Llewellyn coming off injury.
I think the worry was more that this could be a hint that the staff knows or suspects KB isn't coming back next year rather.
Bates the transfer from Indiana is also likely coming. Kobe is gone.
No real interest in bigs that I've seen means Dickinson is almost for sure back.
Because he would be the 4th 2 on the roster if Kobe comes back. It’s not rocket science. This likely means Kobe is gone.
This alone wouldn’t do it, but the fact they are still pursuing MORE guards, likely means Kobe gone.
I honestly think it does. Nimari is not transferring to get even less playing time than he just got.
Not disagreeing with your post or premise but I do believe Nimari would very likely get 20+mpg with the current roster + Kobe. He is immediately the best perimeter defender on the roster. He has the size to slide over to the 3 -- especially with how many teams play 3 guard lineups. He could theoretically be the #1 backup for 3 positions. Hell the coaches might prefer to start him over Baker if we have actual guard depth, less size but certainly can guard a wing better than Joey.
We were after him in HS recruiting I think. Need some players with higher ceilings on this team. Hope he's it
This feels like Troy Weaver building a roster of burned out lottery picks.
Clearing cap space to sign Greg Oden this summer.
Hell yeah!!
No matter who we get , we can’t run a successful motion offense with hunter standing in the paint
We run a lot of sets with Hunter standing outside the 3 point line setting screens. I’d rather he spent more time near the basket.
His shooting form reminds me of Zack Irvin. And he's more athletic, seeing the multiple dunks in his highlights. So hopefully he plays alot better in a different system where you're not running around frantically & obviously less athletic guards in the B1G.
If he can bring the ball upcourt against pressure without wetting himself, it's an upgrade.
