2025 4* QB Carter Smith commits to Michigan

Only Penn St would watch a team run 30 times in a row and think
"We need the guy in charge of that passing game"

Not sure Allar is the guy I'd search for... I'm still trying to figure out how he was a 5-star croot!

There's noise that Quinn Ewers is likely to return next year which could mean a certain 5 star QB at Texas may be on the market.

That flea flicker that wobbled into the turf 10 yards in front of his receiver was special.

YES! Great choice and he will help keep Michigan at the top!
Carter is a REAL athlete and threat to run. He's got a good arm, and sees the field well. VERY comfortable off-platform and throwing on the run. Release needs a bit of work. Doesn't have a cannon for an arm. Truly tough and team-oriented, his highlights show several plays where his BLOCKS open a lane for running backs.
He's a very, very good prospect. If he adds arm strength and cleans-up his release, he could be great. Either way, he could win a lot of games at Michigan.

Mobile QB , welcome aboard. #BeatUSC

Frames?

I don't care if he doesn't have a cannon for an arm. Accuracy is much more important IMHO.

Welcome aboard kid! Go Blue!

Guys, let's just welcome Carter and worry about the potential implications on Underwood later. This is our first commit in a long time, and it comes at a difficult time to recruit, and I will remember that when Carter is on campus. I will root for him a tad more, possibly, because he showed a commitment when we kind of needed one to maybe get the ball rolling again and pick up some momentum.
I always remembered J.J. and Dononvan, when things seemed to be crumbling around us a few year ago, both re-affirm their commitments with aplomb, and I made a note about it then. I will do the same for Carter.

This is a good point - timing of this commitment matters.

Look at LSUs current QB. He is amazing, and yet LSU isn't even a top 10 team.

True, but look at Michigan's current QB. He is amazing, and Michigan is the best damn team in the country.

This is a highly underrated pickup. Great athlete. Fastest kid on his team, which includes a Buckeye DB commit. Great leader. Comes from a solid family. Has quite a bit of JJ to him. Could be something special.

Great news, welcome to Michigan Carter!

I like that he can run, and he seems to enjoy throwing a punishing block. A Harbaugh type of guy who likes to compete.

Kid looks like he's rolling a double play with the throwing motion. He's definitely a baseball player, probably middle infielder. I like that Michigan is targeting a guy that is mobile after taking Davis in 2024. I wonder how much Campbell/Harbaugh will try to tweak his motion.

Serious question. Is this to eventually move to TE like Gentry? I thought we were on that Ohio QB Montgomery if Underwood didn't pan out. If we take two qb then maybe.
November 14th, 2023 at 1:59 PM ^
Isn't he 180 lbs? That does not scream future TE to me.

Looks like less polished JJ. I think his ranking could explode on his JR to SR year performance.

Congrats and glad they've got a QB for the class.

Too bad Devin Gardner couldn't get a covid year... that would be cool.
Such a shame that he never got A level coaching here. What could have been.
