Why does it seem like every time someone picks a school other than UM the first reaction is they took money? Is cheating a factor here, maybe? Is it possible the kid just likes LSU, maybe?

I know the Wade backstory, he’s also consistently won and shown to put a good product on the floor that will attract top talent. I just think it’s a bad look when every thread about someone choosing somewhere else that the bagmen comments flood the thread, guess to me that’s calling out the kids’ integrity by instantly labeling them a cheater when that may not be the case....

"tell me you don't watch college basketball without telling me you don't watch college basketball"

Don't you remember our game vs them? The only reason it was close for a while was because they were super athletic, played hero ball, and kept hitting bullshit shots lol

You’re right, I don’t watch every single game (let alone very many LSU games), but they win and make the tournament. Whether we like his style of coaching or not isn’t relevant. Winning and making the tournament attract talent. Yes, Wade has been on tape making comments about cheating, but there’s 0 proof this kid took money as of right now that we know. It wouldn’t shock me to find out down the road that this wasn’t on the level, but I’m not gonna just assume that without any knowledge or proof.

If you want to believe the coach, that we have proof of paying players, didn't pay the player, who was widely believed to be going pro or going to play for Jeff Capel, then you do you

LSU is a second (probably third) rate program that's about to get left in the dust by Bama and can't hope to compete with a fully operational Calapari Kentucky squad.  He's won as many conference championships as Juwan has.

And if you think a kid is passing up a strong ass offer from the program that made the offer, I don't know what to tell you.  Rashan Gary decided not to take the money from Clemson and come here.  Glad he did.  But there's no universe in which he goes to Clemson but says "nah, I don't want the quarter million dollars you said you'd pay me".

Let's stay away from the kid's integrity in situations like this. In modern college athletics, I don't think it's appropriate to take shots at kids or their families for taking money if it's offered to them. Many come from nothing and see all of their peers also taking large paychecks to play in a sport that makes millions off of them.

I didn’t say it looks like sour grapes. Simply asked why in this post, and almost all the other non-UM commitment posts, that one of the first things thrown out is a bagman comment. I would agree, I don’t really give a shit if he did or didn’t take a bunch of money, but I’m not going to just assume that he did without any proof.

I’m not missing any point. My comment wasn’t just about this kid. In fact it’s about every single post that’s made about someone that commits somewhere other than UM and how the bagmen comments always show up. We don’t know if this kid, or any of them, take/took money to commit.

The most important point in this regard is that, in general, the SEC is a very weak basketball conference-and it is not because of the lack of recruiting. I checked the NCAA Tournament performance of LSU. Since 1953, my birth year-when the tournament format began, LSU has played B1G schools 12 times in the tournament. If  my cursory check counted correctly, their record is 2-10...they beat Maryland by 2 points in 2019 and Purdue in overtime in 1986. The point being that, aside from Kentucky, the SEC coaches aren't worth a damn. Wade is a snake oil salesman.

I don't know if the kid or his mother took money. I am certain that they knew the coach has paid players in the past while at the same job. He also has had a strange path to this commitment. LSU jumped into his recruitment late, over his perceived leaders.

1. My LSU friends are the first to admit that Wade probably outbid everyone else for this kid.

2. Did you watch Michigan play LSU? Did you not notice how awfully coached that team was? Hero ball combined with mid-range horseshit is a result of terrible or minimal coaching.

3. What an odd hill to choose to die on.

SEC currently has 12 of the top 50 kids committed for the 2021 cycle and that’s with UK having a recruiting off year. That’s more than any other conference by at least 4 recruits and twice as many as most. Their conference motto is “it just mean$ more”.

What's holding the other conferences back from calling out the SEC in BB and FB?

They know its happening because they recruit the same guys but watch them rush to the highest bidder which puts them at a disadvantage.  But they remain silent. Felt that way when Gary chose UM over Clemson. That was a golden opportunity to shine light on this issue.

So In a sense the others are complicit in the charade.

While the SEC is far more brazen than anyone else, I think it would be naive to pretend like this wasn't happening to some degree in the Big Ten. No clue where or who, but I'm sure it's not only the SEC. Just seems like they care less / no one in that area cares about the optics of it as long as you're winning

OSU was recruiting the kid for 3 years and he seemed about to commit when his mom delayed it saying FSU and LSU were suddenly interested and he wanted to hear them out. 2 days later OSU took the IU transfer.

From his Mom's twitter, it doesn't even seem like Reid has control of his recruitment. In her announcement that Reid had picked a school, she said "Mama Bear has spoken" which sure doesn't sound like Reid made the decision
