Compare their schedules, wins, and loses head to head. LSU over Michigan isn’t even a close argument. If you're going by record, Michigan’s best win is over 4-4 Air Force. If you want to use S&P+, its over Purdue (No. 49). LSU has at least beaten a couple of P5 teams with a winning record. Michigan’s quality wins are so bad, I’d be surprised if they were ranked even after a win over Minnesota (No. 66 in S&P+).

LSU has beaten exactly one team with a winning record (Auburn) and one team at .500. And that Auburn game they came back from 20 points down. And they also got blown out by Miss St and close to Troy, two "worse" losses than Michigan suffered if you go by the home/road loss comparison. I can hear an argument LSU is a more talented team, but they have played far worse this year than people expected, and even some of their wins were close affairs. It's not cut and dry at all that they are the #19 team in the country.

Clemson is at #4????  They lost to unranked Syracuse, but hey their starting quarterback was injured, so disregard that loss....  Michigan lost to MSU  after it lost its starting quarterback and it drops almost 20 spots.  Also, LSU at #19??  MSU at #24? Yeah, they beat us, but they also just lost to Northwestern...   Our losses are to two top 25 teams.....  That's bullshit.

You're looking at it the old human poll way where its more about recency bias and the things like you mentioned.  The CFP committee looks at the entire body of work, groups teams in pods, and then ranks them from there.

If Michigan had wins that could put them into a better pod of comparable teams, who they lost to wouldn't matter as much.  But they don't, so its kind of a nonstarter.

Think they should just unveil after conference championships have been settled just like march madness does. Biggest reason is I think if this was the final poll with exact same records, wins and such it wouldn't look like this so my point is this is fake and just for fan drama and discussion or to prove a point, also, so much is gonna change in the next 4-5 weeks. Am I off base with this idea?

No. It is better to do it this way so there is some accountability. This way they have to justify how they are going about it. If they just released one at the end, there would not have to be any explanation really.

On Jeff Sagarin rankings troy 95, right in front of Rutgers because their SOS is 120. They are slightly better SOS wise in other rankings but there are 100ish in those. Looking at their schedule you see why and they are not blowing out the week teams they are playing. FPI also has them at 79, one behind AF and about 8 in front of Rutgers (who dropped over 20 stops after Michigan). S&p+ is an outsider and I expect troy to finish out around where fpi has them. That is a bad loss no matter how you want to put it.

I almost got in a fight with one of my Domer co-workers today because he was so obnoxious and then the Ohio State jackass piled on. I used to like working at that place tonight I can just hang my head. Tomorrow will be impossible. It's not just the team that loses when we lose to these jerks.

I give most of them an "atta boy" for being good this year. According to most Notre Dame fans, "Harbaugh sucks and is overrated. He is nowhere near as good a coach as Brian Kelly." I can not make this stuff up. Harbaugh is potentially looking at three consecutive 10 win seasons, with arguably his youngest or "worst" team ever. Kelly went 4-8 last year. I mean.. wow.

have that control over you and your job.  Step way back from the conversation and let them be the assholes they are.  Chances are they'll take a step back too.  if they don't...  still don't let it get to you.  Give them nothing, and document everything.

Is no 1, and it’s not even close. For Georgia to be number 1, they are saying the win on the road against NDis the best road win in the country, which was augmented by ND dismantling SC. The initial rankings sound like transitive property to me...but, it will get sorted out in the next month. New topic: what is Bryan Kelly’s best win at ND?

I watched Syracuse dump a mediocre Clemson team. How can they be #4 that is utter garbage. And an undefeated Wisconsin is #9 while a dumpy ND is #3. And ND is ahead of 1-loss OSU and PSU? Wow, just a giant head-scratcher. Thank God UM isn't in the race this year because this CFP committee is one weird-ass pile of turd.

They were getting out played by Syracuse before their qb got hurt. The refs gave them a 14 point swing on a bad call that negated a Syracuse to and then a bad no call where they picked up a flag for block in the back on the next play were Clemson scooped and scored. I will say they looked good when he was in before that, but Syracuse straight up out played them the whole game even when he was in.

Anyone that calls ND dumpy this obviously doesn't watch College Football. And Clemson has two top 15 wins and lost one game without their starting QB. I hate ND but they have an excellent resume this year. I'm glad the committee is sending a message about strength of schedule to Wisconsin and Miami. I think the committee did a great job. It makes a ton of sense to anyone that watches a lot of CFB.

I mean, I know both Wisconsin and Miami haven't actually played anyone with a pulse, but you'd think two of the four undefeated Power 5 teams would be higher than 9th and 10th. And if you're just out to give credit for good wins, Penn State hasn't won any games against top-25 teams.

1. Alabama 2. OSU 3. Georgia 4. Oklahoma 5. PSU 6. Wisconsin 7. Miami 8. ND 9. Clemson 10. Washington But the way TCU sucks. Iowa scored 40-something on Iowa State so we know how terrible that Iowa State defense must be.

Power rankings based on raw stats or advanced stats have Clemson behind either OSU or PSU and sometimes TCU.  However, Clemson did lose their quarterback for the second half of that game but Clemson was losing by three before they lost their starting QB.

I anxiously await a late surge from the Meechigan Wolverines.
