Michigan has just landed a very big fish in the class of 2019:

That's GA OL/DL Chris Hinton, currently #9 in the 2019 composite rankings and a very likely five star. Hinton had offers from just about everybody; the most relevant suitors were Stanford, OSU, Bama, Clemson, and Georgia. He is a major pull out of Georgia, further establishing Michigan as a force in that talent-rich state.

As a bonus, he's got a 2020 brother, Myles, who is also tracking towards being a big-time prospect.

A full Hello post will appear tomorrow, as if by magic.

kudos to all involved.  I know there's a long way to go... but this fantastic.

I can't wait for the hello post to see what drew Hinton to Michigan.

This is out of the blue and into the maize.

Welcome Mr. Hinton.

I remember Hokes 3rd year when the top receiver and Fournette commited within days of each other. It takes a while to pick up steam on the crootin' trail when a new coach arrives. Seems like Harbaugh has gotten over that hump. I think the negative talk of other coaches claiming that Harbaugh was gonna go back to the NFL within a couple of years is wearing a little thin with these young guys that have seen Jim at Michigan during their whole highschool tenures. I look forward to many more.

this is a guy get for the program! Along with Herron, Rumler and Thomas, 2019 is looking like it could be a very special class...

that DL could be an all timer...

wow, key pickup.  a big time georgia prospect with national offers, hinton carries serious recruiting weight...not sure hell finish quite so highly ranked but its huge for other prospects to see national 5 star types comfortably committed and repping m.

not to mention hes a versatile talent with potential to satisfy any of several roster needs...hinton is clearly a large, athletic dude with potential to make a real impact at SDE, DT, OT or OG, depending on how he develops

This guy can BALL.

This 2019 class is shaping up to be one of the best ever if we can hold onto all of these guys.

We'll need some of these guys to come in and play as impact true freshman if we want a run at the playoff in 2019.

does this mean that no other teams from the south want him?  I thought I heard that Michigan would never get a highly ranked recruit out of the south if an SEC team wanted him (paraphase).

2019 seems to be a loaded class, and hopefully monster 2018 (and 2017) teams on the field will help solidify it. Now go lock down Dobbs, get Crouch and Cain!

If this is true, the Dobbs' recruitment will be one to watch.

Does the staff sink assets into changing his mind just because he's from in state?

Does his top 50 status stick if he's showing "prima donna" tendencies?

In the end, I'm thinking he just might not be a "fit" for the UofM program for potentially a few reasons and if he ends up a top program then that's good for high school players in the state as well.

We sure don't want top ranked kids from, let's say "Georgia", to stay in state for no other reason that " the best players in the state........." Bla bla bla bla bla.

Logan Brown is trending heavily to Michigan and, in my assessment, has a higher ceiling-in every way. Brown has visited multiple times and Dobbs seems to think Michigan should chase after him. This 2019 Michigan class is going to be a two-way street and Harbaugh is not going to take kids who think the world revolves around them.  And here, clearly character matters to the Michigan staff...look at the kids they are bringing in...who wouldn't be pleased to be called their parent???

and the evaluations of scouting services don't matter. Except when they do. Which, oddly enough, always seems to be when we get a commit from a guy that the scouting services have given a lot of stars.

No one said stars don't matter. Just that a 3 star can be a good scheme fit and the best available on our board. If you want to kick and scream why not ask why we didn't put ourselves in position to have some 5 star guys on our board. Instead you just flail and whine every chance you get.

and it's perfectly consistent with your body of comments here overall at MGoBlog: it's a litany of whining, complaining, finger-pointing, cavilling, bitching, and piss-moaning, regardless of what Michigan sport is being discussed.

Sports should be fun, but it appears that for you it's an endless exercise in frustration and resentment that Michigan isn't at the apex in every sport in which it competes. You really would be happier rooting for another program that can meet your standards.
