Mo Bamba accepted illegal benefits per his brother
Pretty sure most on here know how amateurism works there Einstein.
Maynard wasn't bitching. Maybe point your griping in the correct direction....
1. RIP Queen's English
2. He wanted to manage his brother, and when that did not happen, he runs behind his back to the NCAA.
"Long story short"...one salty guy rambling for 22 minutes
Lesson learned from the Fab Five: Keep arms fucking length from this guy.
Ed Martin was not a Michigan booster. Ed Martin was an Ed Martin booster. But Michigan let him get too close to the program and paid the price.
This guy sounds like he's cut from the same cloth.
We can't stop him from doing what he does, but we can stop him from doing it around us.
Anybody can get season tickets. The AD can't stop that.
But when the AD gets him a hotel room at the Final Four, yeah they made him a Michigan booster.
They could have kept him from being a "Michigan booster" in the eyes of the NCAA, but they didn't. And they paid the price.
If you provide a donation to get season tickets, you would be a "Michigan booster" in the eyes of the NCAA already.
But you're right that the optics and public opinion are more nuanced than the literal rules.
But the NCAA doesn't just look like at it as black or white. When you have access to the locker room, are having coaches leave you tickets and arranging hotel rooms, etc, they look at you as a real booster known to the program.
He wasn't some lifelong Michigan fan. He bought season tickets after C-Webb joined the team.
comp'd him tickets and then tried to cover it up.
Everyone should learn from Watergate.
I don't even know what to think. I'm not going to be one that is piling on, although I am glad at this point that Michigan didn't win the Mo Bamba sweepstakes.
The one comment I will make is that I'd bet there is extreme pressure on so many athletes from family and friends and hangers on who want to "cash in" on their connection to said athlete.
Plus the pressure that the players put on themselves to try to give back to parents that have sacrificed so much for the player, and who have so little. What are the odds anyone will find out if you do something nice for mom?
But with no mo Mo.
Mo Bamba Mo Problems
Christmas dinner will look like wrestlemania.
I think I could swing 200 a week for a player if that's all it takes.
I'll go halfsies with you. Let's buy a Kentucky player.
I am fairly certain that the only flack that John Calipari might give you is that nothing can be traceable and then he would proceed to recommend some good fencing operations which can provide TVs and other devices on a cash only basis but for reasonable prices. The only stipulation is that you immediately burn the slip of paper mentioning the address once you have committed it to memory.
Which is why the players that can go pro out of high school, should go pro out of high school.
well thats one way to brother...
yikes.
or much blow.
There has obviously been deflation in the bagman market.
Ed Martin and Chris Webber are not impressed.

This is going to suck when it turns out Greer Love has been giving benefits to Michigan athletes and it gets revealed because of this.
Yeah, because the NCAA has been hammering Louisville, UNC, Ole Miss, etc. for their transgressions...
I hear Europe is nice this time of the year.
Mo money.
Mo problems.
It seems like Bamba should just go pro.
I will say that the world of agents can be pretty sleazy. I know nothing about Greer Love. However, I can't blame Bamba in the least for steering clear of his brother. You need someone with a better handle on not only negotiations with a team, but also with how to save and invest the money you make. Greer Love may or may not have been that individual. Bamba's brother almost certainly was not.
Addition: I know there are some certifications for agents. It would seem that some combination of business degree and perhaps a law degree (at least half of which Greer Love has) would be a reasonable expectation for an agent to have.
we don't have to worry about this with Beilein. We're about to potentially get two top 100 players this week and we can sleep soundly that JB has done it all the right way.
You do realize that if Bamba would've selected us, Beilein would not have turned him away. I mean we were in his final group of colleges. We can praise coach B for a lot of things, but this would not be one as it looks as if all coaches involved were blindsided by this one.
Correction: By the time the NCAA gets to the bottom of this, Bamba will be in Ice Cube's new 3 on 3 league, because he will have already completed his long and successful NBA career, yet still wants to play a little basketball so he can afford his new 2035 Ford Spacecar.
I hope the AD is already all over this checking on any improprieties.
I found Greer on FB and see he's friends with someone with the Bamba surname (presumably Mo's father or an uncle?) as well as Ibrahim. I tried skimming his friends list to see if any other UofM athlete family names popped out at me, and I didn't see any...but he's got a lot of friends and I only skimmed.
2nd place in intramural ping pong. What a loser!
I hold my 98 broomball championship over all!
