Let’s go Red Wings!
Clap, clap . . . clap, clap, clap.
April 15th, 2024 at 10:22 PM ^
Hell of a game !
Hell of a mid air grab by Gost!
If he doesn't intercept that clear attempt they probably don't tie that game.
April 15th, 2024 at 10:22 PM ^
What a comeback?! And the OBJ catch to keep the puck in the zone. My goodness!
I was trying to explain the clutchness of the catch to a couple of buddies as the play was going on. What a chaotic minute, the almost goal, the waive off, the play continuing, the catch, then Lucas Raymond.
Fun to have meaningful hockey in Detroit again.
April 16th, 2024 at 10:04 AM ^
Without the catch the game is virtually over. And it wasn’t just a player catching a puck like we’ve seen a million times. He got UP! Such a huge play. I’ve seen highlights that cut part out. That is the play!
April 16th, 2024 at 10:48 AM ^
Not only did he get way up, he made a clean grab and then immediately dished a backhand pass right on Perron's stick. Unbelievable play.
April 15th, 2024 at 10:24 PM ^
It's crazy that the Capitals are -38 for goals scored on the season.
Really pulling for the Redwings 🏒
LFG!!!
April 15th, 2024 at 10:45 PM ^
Caps are -38 but still have the tie breaker on us as well haha
April 15th, 2024 at 11:00 PM ^
So Caps have to lose and we have to win?
What is the tiebreaker?
April 15th, 2024 at 11:11 PM ^
Wins in regulation. Red Wings have 27, Caps have 30. Red Wings have to win tomorrow and need the Caps to lose. Luckily the Caps have the tougher game.
I really want to believe this but the Flyers have been in a downward spiral for a while now. They have been better as of late so hopefully that trend continues tonight.
The Wings have to play with more energy tonight then they did the first two periods last night. We need some better goalie play as well.
April 16th, 2024 at 10:55 AM ^
The way the Wings start games and come out of intermission has me really thinking there are coaching problems. I'm ready for a change.
April 16th, 2024 at 12:09 PM ^
I wouldn't disagree with this sentiment. I'm not convinced Lalonde is head coach material.
One of the knocks I heard was that Lalonde is constantly mixing his lines. The top teams in the east do little to none of that because it undermines chemistry development.
April 15th, 2024 at 11:12 PM ^
Tiebreaker is regulation wins, which everyone owns over us
hey, new avatar. nice, vlady. but not the vikes?
April 16th, 2024 at 10:06 AM ^
Not unless they draft JJ.
The Jets, my second favorite team, released their new uniforms and logo yesterday, which is a shining up of the original New York Sack Exchange era I originally fell in love with so many years ago.
April 16th, 2024 at 10:23 AM ^
As a old-school Dolphin fan, I don't usually have much nice to say about the J-E-S-T, but I was very happy Joe Klecko finally made the HOF. Guy was a beast, not to mention a master thespian.
So stupid that the first tiebreaker is regulation wins and not head to heads. No that it would help against the Caps but still...
April 15th, 2024 at 10:25 PM ^
With the goalie pulled what pressure they sustained there at the end. Best finish I have seen in awhile. Now a win with a Caps loss and we are in. Come on Philly.
April 15th, 2024 at 10:26 PM ^
The Wings have like no business actually making the playoffs given how mediocre the roster is, but then neither do any of the other teams in the running.
April 16th, 2024 at 12:13 AM ^
Mediocre? Nah… they are a playoff team in their top 6, depth forwards and prospects. Their glaring weakness is the blue line.
These boys also have tremendous heart. That goal by Larkin in OT against the Leafs and then the jump by Ghost to keep that puck in the zone… nothing mediocre about this group to set up the budding superstar Raymond. Nothing mediocre about this group. They should have lost tonight just on the pick luck les habitants recieved but willed themselves to two points!
and as i mentioned down-thread, the refs did us exactly zero favors. numerous canadian cross-checks let go, and micky was remarking on those. and that boarding from behind of raymond in the second period that then immediately generated the habs fourth goal. what is this 'home town whistle' that i hear people mention? mere myth?
Amazing how much iron we hit down the stretch.
That was a great win, showed a lot of persistence / perseverance.
If they make the playoffs, then they make the playoffs, and had business doing so. Anything else is just groupthink contrived season narrative, which is meaningless.
April 15th, 2024 at 10:27 PM ^
Great comeback tonight! TCB tomorrow!
Lots of love from the Island. F@#k the Caps, Pens and Flyers.*
Excepting tomorrow; go ye Broad Street Bullies, once.
April 15th, 2024 at 10:32 PM ^
The Wings basically need one more point than both WSH and PIT to get in. The easiest path is to beat MTL again and then PHL needs to beat the Caps either in regulation or OT. The Wings do not own the first tiebreaker against any of the other contending teams (regulation wins) so they have to get more points.
April 15th, 2024 at 10:42 PM ^
They could also back in with an overtime loss to Montreal, a regulation Washington loss to Philly, and a Pittsburgh loss to the Islanders (either OT or regulation).
April 15th, 2024 at 10:48 PM ^
Who has the tiebreaker in a 3 team tie at 89 between Detroit, Washington, and Philadelphia?
Edit: I found it and it looks like the Flyers would make it in that scenario. I think that's a good thing since that means the Flyers will be very motivated to beat Washington tomorrow night.
April 15th, 2024 at 10:54 PM ^
Pittsburgh would with 32 regulation wins. They would also in four-way tie at 89 points.
April 15th, 2024 at 11:10 PM ^
For a Philly vs Wash tie, I believe it would fall all the way to points in games against each other should Philly win in regulation (Philly would win 4-3)
It's implicit in your Philly vs Wash vs Detroit scenario, but Philly needs Pittsburgh to lose in regulation.
Detroit loses the first regulation wins tiebreaker to all three.

April 15th, 2024 at 11:41 PM ^
That’s correct. Only comes into play if Philadelphia wins in regulation.
April 15th, 2024 at 11:07 PM ^
If Washington wins, unfortunately nothing else matters for anyone. The silver lining is that Philadelphia has to win in regulation or they’re done. If Washington gets one point, Philadelphia is eliminated and then it’ll come down to what the Wings and Penguins do. If Washington gets no points, Washington is eliminated and then it’ll come down to what the Wings and Penguins do.
April 15th, 2024 at 11:11 PM ^
Wow! Go, Red Wings!
April 15th, 2024 at 11:20 PM ^
I was there. What a freakin game.
April 15th, 2024 at 11:21 PM ^
I liked when that dude splashed a bunch more oil
April 15th, 2024 at 11:22 PM ^
What’s going to get lost is what Shayne Gostisbehere did.
As time was running out he jumped up, caught the puck to keep it in the Wings zone and a few moments later Raymond tied the game
April 15th, 2024 at 11:28 PM ^
He jumped 3 feet high in skates to grab that puck. If that puck gets out of the zone, it’s unlikely they get positioned again to have as good a chance as what came after Ghost’s save.
April 15th, 2024 at 11:38 PM ^
It was crazy to see live. One of the best pulled goalie plays I’ve seen.
To me, just as impressive as the catch was his quick recovery to drop the puck and flip it accurately out of harms way. Just a hell of all all around play.
I can’t stop thinking about how superhuman that play looked. Amazing.
Would love to see THAT image in the Jumpman silhouette format. Unfortunately, I don’t possess that particular set of skills.
April 22nd, 2024 at 11:55 AM ^
But the particular set of skills of saving your daughter from kidnappers in Europe, you do possess?
April 15th, 2024 at 11:47 PM ^
That game was awesome!!
April 16th, 2024 at 12:12 AM ^
Just win baby
April 16th, 2024 at 12:53 AM ^
Here are about 5 minutes of highlights; most definitely worth the watch. I was screaming in my kitchen as I watched them. The last 2 minutes and overtime were absolutely insane.

LGRW!
bad news: canadians scored on 2 of their first 3 shots, and 4 of their first 13. our goaltending is tuuurrrrible.
good news: offense/sustained pressure/cycling was pretty great as the game went on. we had something like 35 shots on goal and the canadians had another 30+ blocked shots -that is a ton of offensive pressure by us.
was fun to see us come back. we hit the post or crossbar 4 times in the 3rd and OT combined. we got absolutely no hometown whistle by the refs - canadians should've been called for a boatload of crosschecks and one particularly nasty boarding of raymond.
Couldn't believe there was only one penalty in the game. Refs really swallowed their whistles. The no call on the boarding on Raymond was terrible.
I think it was right after that when people started throwing octopi on the ice. The energy in the building was crazy.
Did you see the goals? Granted, that's not a good save percentage to say the least, but in this case there are some mitigating circumstances. The first goal had our d-man fall/get slew-footed by the guy he was covering who then scored on a blind backhand. The second goal was ridiculously amazing (I was impressed and I'm a Wings fan), and the third was a bad bounce/turnover that went right to an unguarded Hab in front of the net.
Tldr; While our goaltending has not been stellar this year, you can't put last night on the goalie.
