I won't be at the Opener - but, will be there next weekend for a "Dad's weekend" outing with my son and other students / dads.
Watching in South Carolina. Going to see them next week.
Not today but I'll be there tomorrow.
I was gifted White Sox fandom by my father. Though I did get a WS in my lifetime, I'm fully out until they sell the team or Jerry Reinsdorf is gone (possibly immortal?). Allowing Jason Benetti to go to the Tigers was the last straw. Enjoy that man and appreciate him like Reinsdorf should have. I hope he's your guy for 40 years. He's phenomenal.
So far... I love when he says "Oh, that's disgusting!" when a tigers pitch dots a strike on the corner. Makes me chuckle. Cause it indeed is a disgusting pitch.
Ive been enjoying Benetti. Good sense of humor and makes C Mo have to break his script and think/laugh often. Loved when they were going around razzing coats in the crowd at the Mets game yesterday.
Young promising team. Really looking forward to the season.
I'm in the wrong time zone but....
Go Tigers ⚾⚾⚾
Being in a different time zone is not a problem.
As Ernie used to say every year, "The voice of the turtle is heard throughout the land."
Who am I to disagree with Ernie?
I am here at Tiger Stadium. Dan Petry is starting and Tom Brookins is looking sharp in the field. Rupert Jones is up at the plate with Darryl Evans on deck.
Sigh....when the Tigers stole my heart in 1984. I was in 3rd grade at Johnson Elementary in Milford, MI. Following year, we moved (ironically) to San Diego.
Gibby hit two of the most memorable HR in World Series History! Wonder if Goose still thinks he should pitch to him?
I'm sure glad he did pitch to him. Great memories of 1984. Went to 4 or 5 games that summer 🏆
Any world where Tommy Brookens is at the hot corner is a world I want to live in. Damn shame he didn't get the managerial job after Leyland retired.
Last I read is that is retired in Pennsylvania. I still wear my Brookens 16 jersey to every Tiger game. Unfortunately those games are in Seattle so it’s usually only one series a summer.
I wore #13 all through my athletic career solely because of Lance Parrish.
One of my biggest regrets as a fan was not going to one of the 1984 games in San Diego where we were living then. I was 3 years out of Michigan, newly married, and trying to be responsible about money. BUT.....
Not I--I'm in Vermont prepping for the eclipse!
What are you doing to prepare?
clarence posted this on his fakebook page. i hacked it, i hope he forgives me:
he claims to have set up stone henge specifically for monday's eclipse.
I got some eclipse glasses then went shopping.
I'm in Little Rock, AR, and we are expecting 1.5M visitors over the next few days.
Vermont is expecting 100k. The population of the state is 600k. Most of them are probably coming right here to Burlington because only the North Country is in the zone.
The new video board is....strange.
Why would they have not made it just a full rectangle? Somebody over thought that big time.
Sounds familiar. They'll just redraw the perimeter and fill in the empty space with shrubs.
Room for advertising.
That is weird. T for tigers?
As crazy as that sounds, you're probably right. Looking at it there's no other plausible explanation.
When they built CoAmerica (as my FIL always called it) they screwed up. They installed the scoreboard too far towards the left field foul line, blocking the lower left part of the scoreboard from view. They were too cheap to move it then, even though they knew it was wrong before the park opened.
Can't believe with a redo of the scoreboard they wouldn't move it as originally designed. Instead, they lopped of the blocked corner, and then matched it on the right side I guess. Who makes these decisions??
Opening day--THAT's why it's spitting snow in SE Michigan.
Anyone understand why they're batting Torkelson ahead of Greene everyday? Greene seems like the better all around hitter, I'd think you'd want to get him more at bats. And also get more runners on for Torkelson's power
Other than a HR and a sharp single yesterday by Greene, neither of them has been hitting worth a darn so far.
True, but you don't decide your lineup based on how people hit for a week.
I didn't say that, did I?
Sorry if you didn't mean it that way, I took your response as an answer to my question about why the lineup was in that order. As a comment apart from the question, I totally agree with you - pretty disappointing how they've both started off. Hoping they improve soon or we might be in for a long season
Great pitching and no hits, rinse repeat.
That escalated quickly. Bit of a disappointing outing for scoob.
Not going to Tigers Opening, but heading out to the Rockies Opening Weekend. Bit of an every other year or so tradition my Daddy and I in have to go see a game at a ballpark we haven't been to yet.
Never seen a game at Coors but got some absolutely fantastic baseball weather out here in Denver!
The Canha homerun hit the guy next to me. He has a sore hand.
Watching the opener, and Gio Urshela is a great pick-up!!
Go, Tigers! I'm loving this start.
Tigers win!!
On pace to go 139-23⚾⚾⚾
Tigers opponents are 3-17 this season, so I’m going to try to hold off on getting excited. But after the last several seasons of pathetic starts, I’ll take it.
Conversely their opponents are 3-17 because they have played the Tigers (and the Indians/Guardians).
I was there. It was chilly --- felt like your typical weather for a Michigan (or MSU) late-November football home finale.
The new video board --- not a fan. Whoever was running the scoreboard today, they were getting used to it themselves, it was either blank or screwed up a good 10% of the time.
Walking around downtown, looks like a fun set-up for the Draft in a few weeks!
Yep was there with the wife and 11 great close friends.
Beers at Harry’s before and after. Good win. Don’t care what the As record is. In the bigs a win is a win, it all counts in Sept-Oct.
didnt mind the scoreboard.
Detroit is my home (born in AA and used to live off Joy Road) and I’m never in a bad mood walking around my hometown. Draft will be a good time for those going.
My only hope is we don't go into May 6 games out. So tired of the lousy starts. So far they have made it seem my hope is coming true.
GO TIGERS
