DC search: Joe Cullen, Chiefs DL coach,
https://x.com/samwebb77/status/1753931443464511568?s=61
Per Sam Webb looks like Moore is focusing on Joe Cullen as DC. He was with the Ravens for five years before coming to the Chiefs.
He is known in Detroit for driving through a Wendy’s with no pants on back in 2006 when he was with the Lions.
He has some DC experience with Urbz in Jacksonville.

Jesus. This is something.
February 3rd, 2024 at 7:53 PM ^
Mohamed. It sure is.
February 3rd, 2024 at 7:31 PM ^
I just saw that. Interesting pick if true. Worry about lack of recruiting since he's been in the NFL since 2005.
February 3rd, 2024 at 7:37 PM ^
Not like MacDonald or Minter were world class recruiters.
It's more important to get the last defensive position coach to be an all-star recruiter. That was Partridge before.
February 3rd, 2024 at 7:45 PM ^
So… rehire Partridge?
February 3rd, 2024 at 7:54 PM ^
Didn't Partridge's dismissal say he could never work at UM again?
February 3rd, 2024 at 9:42 PM ^
What if he changed his first name to Danny?
February 4th, 2024 at 4:12 AM ^
Nah. Then he'll just keep coming up with hair-brained schemes that accomplish nothing but getting Reuben Kincaid into trouble.
February 3rd, 2024 at 9:45 PM ^
Partridge was not an all-star recruiter. As evidenced by him recruiting literally no one in the time he was here this last go around.
February 3rd, 2024 at 9:48 PM ^
...Wasn't he only here about a half a year?
February 4th, 2024 at 12:01 AM ^
He was primary or secondary on a lot of guys in this year's class. I get you have a crusade against Partridge, but at least be realistic.
February 4th, 2024 at 7:33 AM ^
why make stuff? why can't you just say, "I don't like the guy"?
...or do you make stuff up because you don't like the guy?
February 5th, 2024 at 1:16 AM ^
Insane
February 4th, 2024 at 8:58 AM ^
Honestly, for a coordinator, I would much rather see somebody that can coordinate their side of the ball. A lot of the guys can recruit. There's one person in charge of the defense. I'd like him to know what he's doing.
February 4th, 2024 at 12:06 PM ^
Isn't Clink a crackerjack recruiter? Give him all the everything he needs to bring kids in
February 3rd, 2024 at 10:21 PM ^
Going to Wendy's drunk with no pants on ... sounds like he can relate to college-aged kids. Could be a slam dunk recruiter.
February 4th, 2024 at 1:31 AM ^
Ehh, how late is Wendy’s open? Like 10? 11? If it was no pants at Taco Bell, that’s at least reasonable.
February 4th, 2024 at 7:49 AM ^
Isn't no pants when eating Taco Bell a requirement. You know, just to be sure you can get them off in time for the runs you're going to get?
For the life of me, I don't understand how anyone can eat Taco Bell. It's worse than McDonald's - bottom rungs of the bottom tier 'restaurants'. (Except for the fries. And the sausage & egg mcmuffin. Those are fucking delicious!)
February 4th, 2024 at 11:09 AM ^
The Taco Bell breakfast burritos are actually pretty good.
February 4th, 2024 at 10:27 AM ^
My local Wendys is open till at least midnight and later on weekends. Those breakfast potato wedges are fantastic.
February 4th, 2024 at 11:22 AM ^
Sherrone has clearly stated he's going to beef up his recruiting staff significantly. I take that to mean he's going to hire guys to recruit so he can hire the best coaches to coach and make up for any recruiting deficiencies the coaches may have.
February 4th, 2024 at 12:46 PM ^
There’s a limit on who exactly is allowed to recruit players. Pretty much all of the off-field staff isn’t even allowed to contact recruits off campus, let alone lead their recruitments.
Beefing up the recruiting staff doesn’t mean he’s hiring people to recruit so the coaches just have to coach. It means they’re hiring more people to evaluate film, handle the logistics of recruiting visits, getting updates and grades from the recruit’s school, things of that nature.
The actual recruitment of the player still falls on the actual coaches. They don’t care what some recruiting department staffer has to say, they want to hear from the guys who they will be getting coached by.
February 5th, 2024 at 1:19 AM ^
This simply isn't true. Courtney Morgan was not a coach and he was perhaps the most effective recruiter Harbaugh ever had.
February 5th, 2024 at 2:58 PM ^
But it is true. Courtney Morgan played a role in ON-CAMPUS recruiting of players, and was very well liked by high school coaches and guidance counselors while in contact with them. And parents while recruits were on campus.
https://theathletic.com/3491590/2022/08/10/sec-recruiting-coordinator/?amp=1
Here’s an article to give you an idea what a recruiting coordinator and their staff do. Recruiting staff aren’t doing in-person, off-campus contact with recruits. They’re handling the day to day operations, the paperwork, the logistics, the data, the scouting. So that the coaches can focus on coaching the team and recruiting the players. Courtney Morgan was well liked by recruits and their families, but he wasn’t out there leading the recruitments.
The NCAA doesn’t allow schools to just hire an army of recruiters so the coaches don’t have to. There is a limit on who is allowed to go out and recruit these kids.
February 5th, 2024 at 10:48 PM ^
Never suggested that he went on the road the way coaches do. But he absolutely did recruit and he was.a huge loss
February 3rd, 2024 at 7:34 PM ^
Doesn't everybody go through Wendy's drive-through with no pants?
February 3rd, 2024 at 7:36 PM ^
Only White Castle in the buff for me…
February 3rd, 2024 at 7:36 PM ^
Sir, this is a Wendy's.

2018 SI piece on Cullen:
He had a "Subway" incident back then, too, with another one of note. Clean since, I guess? Hopefully the Harbaughs vouched for him.
February 3rd, 2024 at 9:32 PM ^
That url itself is quite a read. Especially the naked-wendys-comeback part.
February 4th, 2024 at 12:34 AM ^
Am I the only one that thinks the Wendy’s thing happened around 2013/14 and not 18 years ago. I was in undergrad. Feels like a minute ago.

Strangely enough Mel Tugger makes an appearance in this story

Come on...don't steal insider info and share it like this.
You've been around long enough to know that's not something we do.
Edit: Info is public, that's my bad.
February 3rd, 2024 at 7:38 PM ^
Public blurb on 247 (linked from Sam's tweet):
In yesterday’s 3R report I mentioned a pro defensive coordinator target who had expressed reluctance about being connected with the Michigan job out of concern for how it might impact his pro possibilities. Well things have progressed favorably for Michigan since then, and sources tell me Kansas City Chiefs defensive line coach Joe Cullen is a major target for the position.
[...]
If the name sounds familiar to Detroit Lions fans, it’s because he served as the franchise’s defensive line coach under Rod Marinelli from 2006-2008. [...]
February 4th, 2024 at 9:32 AM ^
Anyone who served in the highly successful Rod Marinelli regime has to be a slam drunk.
February 3rd, 2024 at 7:41 PM ^
It’s public. I don’t subscribe.
