Bring out your dead - cleansing NEGBANG
All -
Reading the game thread in real time last week its clear there are some amongst us who (must) regret their real-time comments. This neg-bang is to provide redemption for those fans who wish to cleanse themselves ahead of the Championship Game. You know who you are. No judgement, just redemption (and hopefully a championship).
GO BLUE. Neg hard and just win
January 5th, 2024 at 9:26 AM ^
So, you're saying you had no doubt the entire game?
January 5th, 2024 at 9:22 AM ^
I said that McCarthy was having an O'Korn-level performance. I'm not sure that can be cleansed.
January 5th, 2024 at 9:43 AM ^
Takes a very strong person to admit to that level of wrongdoing.
January 5th, 2024 at 9:53 AM ^
Negged for honesty.
January 5th, 2024 at 10:11 AM ^
That just feels wrong. But it was so right.
The conflict is real...
January 5th, 2024 at 9:23 AM ^
there were 25 minutes of the second half that even the most stout hearted and positive among us could not have stomached well. 44 yards and and a missed field goal with only a forced fumble to give us hope in the face of what seemed like the defense running out of gas. I don't begrudge any fan who had doubts during that time
January 5th, 2024 at 10:00 AM ^
Fear, doubt, and uncertainty are fine but there was no excuse for all the finger pointing at coaches and players. The coaching was actually brilliant.
January 5th, 2024 at 5:31 PM ^
Holy crow, oh never mind, the negativity on negativity is disturbing.
I can't say that I knew we would win all along, but I wasn't going to stop believing as long as we were within one score and would likely get the ball back at least one more time.
January 5th, 2024 at 9:25 AM ^
I hid in my workshop and refused to watch the first half because my anxiety was so high. While I made some great strides on the pear-wood log I am shaping, I was a bad fan. I watched the second half when I realized that Michigan was holding their own. I can do better.
January 5th, 2024 at 9:29 AM ^
I watched the whole thing against my better judgement but didn't fall asleep until after 6am. I took the dog out for like three walks. I'm surprised the neighbors didn't call the police.
January 5th, 2024 at 9:39 AM ^
Good to know I am not alone. I take this stuff way too seriously. It's been part of my life since I was 7 and I am nearly 45.
January 5th, 2024 at 9:58 AM ^
It was about 3AM for me, I just couldn't sleep after, might have to call in sick Tuesday.
January 5th, 2024 at 11:00 AM ^
I watched the first quarter, which is more than I normally watch in big games, then retreated to my bedroom, yelling to my husband every now and then, "How's it going?" I checked in here and judging from the comments, I thought it was over in the 4th, but then my husband yelled "Touchdown Michigan!!" and hope was renewed. Then we went into OT. I always watch this way so I don't need redemption. Goes back to the Denard days.

For me, beating Ohio State just took the edge off. The B10 championship game and the game against Bama were just "more cherries on the sundae".
Living in the South, the only emotional distress I had (which wasn't small) was the thought of Bama going to another championship. Bama fans are easily more annoying than OSU fans. Bama fans seem to think their program went from Bear Bryant...to Gene Stallings...To Nick Saban. They are the most entitled and self centered fans I have ever come across.
January 5th, 2024 at 9:29 AM ^
Penix is gonna drop dimes and we only have quarters. Man won't make change. We're fucked!
Did I do that right? Kind of a pre game Festivus. Get out your negativity?
?
January 5th, 2024 at 9:56 AM ^
I guess not. In that case. I have a problem with you people. I contrived positivity the entire Rose Bowl and will Monday as well.
Go Blue!
Screw this thread and the deer killers who live here. Save Bambi!
January 5th, 2024 at 9:36 AM ^
Go ahead, NEG me to oblivion. I was too gutless to watch the game. Instead, I went out and shot two deer and I don’t even rifle hunt. gutted and skinned them and hung em up. I walked in the door only to see us tie the game with a minute and 20 left, and win it in overtime.
and neg me again, because I think we are in danger of pulling a “TCU” against the Huskies.
January 5th, 2024 at 9:37 AM ^
This is how it's done. Do you have a block permit due to the farm status?
January 5th, 2024 at 10:02 AM ^
There is nothing wrong with this. It’s all the complainers on the game thread complaining about Moore and others that I want to see show up.
January 5th, 2024 at 10:36 AM ^
I thought there were too many cutesy, gimmicky play calls. Most of them failed miserably, the couple that worked were lucky (specifically JJ's catch on the double throw). When he just called the offense - including the counters they schemed up - it worked beautifully!
A lot of people also flip-flopped to wanting Minter as a HC in place of Sherrone. I mean, the defense... That game was a Masterclass in defensive domination!
January 5th, 2024 at 10:05 AM ^
don't even have to apply for that now. there are as many doe licenses as you want.
January 5th, 2024 at 10:27 AM ^
"because I think we are in danger of pulling a “TCU” against the Huskies."
If I didn't know better I'd say it was me that wrote that.
January 5th, 2024 at 10:57 AM ^
I don't get the people that LOVE Michigan but don't watch the big games?? WTF?!
January 5th, 2024 at 11:14 AM ^
a number of other posters have expressed similar sentiment. if it the game goes south it is unpleasant to watch and yes, precisely because people care. also, there is nothing that my watching is going to do to win or lose the game.
two caveats: last year for the ohio game i did the exact same thing - but with only one deer.
second: watching the games in person, even when the games go south, is not nearly as unpleasant and i have no idea why.
January 5th, 2024 at 11:59 AM ^
So you'd rather just not know what happens until you see the score after the game? What's the point? The joy isn't just that we won, the joy comes from experiencing us winning the game in my opinion. To each his own I suppose! I cannot imagine ignoring the game Monday night (or any other M football game) for any reason!
January 5th, 2024 at 12:38 PM ^
oh, i'll watch it all on monday. its just that i had worthwhile things to do for the '22 ohio game and the rose bowl while it was on, perfect distractions. i get a lot of updates during the game from friends and family, so i can generally track what's going on.
January 5th, 2024 at 11:02 AM ^
I think there was a really good chance of us laying an egg against 'bama..... JJ's near pick on his 1st pass attempt, the muffed punt, Don's poor throw to JJ, dropped passes..... but they rose above and battled like warriors.
Anything can happen.... But there is a much higher pobability that they play harder than they have all season.... To quote Dan Fouts, "Last game of the year Brent, can't hold anything back now."
January 5th, 2024 at 9:38 AM ^
Get the feeling we’re taking this game lightly, including mgoblog. Long flight back after a physical game and flying back out within a few days. All I hear is rest. Media, stats favor us, we’re more physical, hype, etc. where’s the prep time for this game? Hoping they put together a what if plan against Washington during the 30 days off. I can see a game of playing behind.
now I feel better.
January 5th, 2024 at 10:15 AM ^
We are either going to blow Washington out or lay an absolute egg because we've been reading our own press clippings all week.
There is no in between. Monday night will not be close, and I know which way I'm leaning.
January 5th, 2024 at 10:41 AM ^
So you're saying it's either going to be the 1978 Rose Bowl against Washington (embarrassing 27-20 egg) or the 1981 Rose Bowl (immensely satisfying 23-6 blowout) against Washington.
I think an equally likely scenario is the '93 back-and-forth see-saw barn-burner, with multiple lead changes and the game decided in the final minutes.
January 5th, 2024 at 1:22 PM ^
I went to both of those Rose Bowls. The 1981 game was better.
January 5th, 2024 at 10:38 AM ^
There is a snowballs chance in Hell that Harbaugh had nobody looking at both Washington and Texas. They're refining that plan in practices and meetings this week.
January 5th, 2024 at 9:39 AM ^
The negativity in the game threads is always bad. If people get that fired up about college kids performing, then they need to re-evaluate. My personal favorites are the “welp, its over” fans asking for muppets after their “we did it!” comments.
That said, try to avoid the game threads.
January 5th, 2024 at 10:02 AM ^
You're posting on a college kids sports message board about not getting fired up about college kids sports...? Do you see a disconnect there?
I'm here for that passion, that love, enjoying the ups, and riding out the downs. Being estatic over every great play and devastated by any miss or mistake. It's who we are.
January 5th, 2024 at 10:14 AM ^
I love the passion. Been passionate about it my whole life. Its been lots of ups and downs. I just find the naysayers and the negative Nancys unbearable when things arent going the teams way. Theres no need to disparage 18-22 year olds for making mistakes in a game.
January 5th, 2024 at 10:22 AM ^
My personal favorites are the “welp, its over” fans asking for muppets after their “we did it!” comments.
I think Dr. Pepper did a commercial covering those "fans". Don't burn your jersey after the first play of the game! Even if it is an INT that gets overturned in replay!
January 5th, 2024 at 9:40 AM ^
You guys can neg me for falling for the signgate hysteria for about a week. I was really worried we were going to start losing games after that.
January 5th, 2024 at 10:14 AM ^
But what if you instead mediate? Could we remediate the threatened Boliviate? I prostrate before ye mods, allow me to reincarnate.
January 5th, 2024 at 9:49 AM ^
Me, I was negative and thought it was over after Alabamz scored.!!!!! Neg the shit out of me! Also Washiton will roll Michigan 31-17.
January 5th, 2024 at 9:53 AM ^
Neg me, I was wading thru the game thread and added only a couple not-super-negative takes. This is not the way
January 5th, 2024 at 9:54 AM ^
I still think Moore's game plan was much more complex than it needed to be and that if had run JJ twice as much as we did we win in regulation by at least 14.
January 5th, 2024 at 9:57 AM ^
Not sure why this post is getting negs. I agree with this completely.
I made the mistake of going to the game thread in the early fourth quarter, and all I saw where posters complaining about the coaching and many of the players. It was disgusting. You know who you are and you need to show up and ask for forgiveness. Otherwise we will start naming names.
January 5th, 2024 at 10:05 AM ^
Negged for not understanding how a negbang works.
January 5th, 2024 at 10:15 AM ^
Or maybe they understand and it's a next-level ploy to get more negs
January 5th, 2024 at 10:24 AM ^
I understand but I’m still pissed about the shitty complainers in that thread and they need to ask for forgiveness.
January 5th, 2024 at 10:42 AM ^
There are a handful of them in the game threads, and most everybody will have a bad take in the moment. If you can't handle it better than you're showing here, I recommend you stay away.
