Championship Game Tickets - UM Allotment
I got the email from the Athletic Department a little after 5 today for championship game tickets.
- 1000 or more points - up to 6 tickets
- 500-999 points - up to 4 tickets
- Less than 500 points - up to 3 tickets
Price range $475 - $1300(!!!)
That ticket price definitely ended any ideas I had of trying to go. Holy moly.

Any way that you can request only the lower priced tickets?
December 6th, 2023 at 11:00 PM ^
Not that I see. Though given my point total, I'm pretty confident I'd get the cheap ones if I got any.
December 6th, 2023 at 11:27 PM ^
My experience is that the ticket office works their way down the priority point list against their ticket allocation
if you’ve got a ton of points you might get stuck with $1,300 tickets
but at that point you are probably Stephen Ross or reside in a similar zip code
December 7th, 2023 at 12:02 AM ^
Get ‘stuck’ with $1300 tickets? Throw me in that briar patch!
December 6th, 2023 at 10:56 PM ^
Why would you want to see Alabama play Washington?
December 6th, 2023 at 10:58 PM ^
Who are you going to assassinate to make that happen, comrade?
December 6th, 2023 at 11:03 PM ^
We don’t need Putingrad. The vast network will work their magic.

In Soviet Russia, Michigan plays Texas...
December 7th, 2023 at 12:00 AM ^
It is cool that the US is pretty much the only country that elevates college sports to the level it is. Could you imagine soviet university sports? Guaranteed wtf's
December 7th, 2023 at 1:40 AM ^
As a gentleman of Lithuanian heritage, I have a decent idea.
December 7th, 2023 at 12:44 AM ^
In Soviet Russia, Bash Counter runs YOU!!

Beat Bama.
December 6th, 2023 at 10:57 PM ^
So it goes
December 6th, 2023 at 11:07 PM ^
I did not get an email. Apparently my point total doesn’t even qualify for an email this time around.
December 7th, 2023 at 1:26 AM ^
Check your spam folder. That is where my email was. I have about 80 points.
I do not care what the price is. $1300 seems cheap especially if we play Texas.
December 7th, 2023 at 1:53 AM ^
You high?
December 7th, 2023 at 3:31 AM ^
Nope. $1300 = Damned near free. I have been a ST holder for 15 years and went to multiple games per year before that.
I will sell 1 premium game per year to cover this cost. It should only take 5 years to BE, less if I sell 2 premium games.
It is all about commitment
December 7th, 2023 at 8:03 AM ^
Texas at the big house next year will make back a chunk of this $. Those tickets should go for Notre Dame-type prices, which used to equal or exceed OSU (which I'd never sell anyway).
December 7th, 2023 at 8:28 AM ^
$1300 will be a bargain if Texas is in the national championship game. It will practically be a home game for tens of thousands of Texas fans who won't have to pay for airfare or hotel rooms to attend the game.
December 7th, 2023 at 1:50 PM ^
It’s fucking stupid how they allow higher priority point total to request so many tickets (up to 8 tickets for the Rose Bowl). Like make it the same amount of tix all around for an equitable opportunity to get tix. But alas, the almighty dollar rules.
December 6th, 2023 at 11:14 PM ^
Do MGoPoints count?
December 6th, 2023 at 11:39 PM ^
Eventually, they will count for something.
/crosses fingers
December 7th, 2023 at 6:13 AM ^
No. The definition of worthless.
December 7th, 2023 at 7:49 AM ^
I has a sad...
But its true - my 100K point total party never happened and I still haven't received the shirtless poster of Brian I was never promised. So WTF, man???
December 6th, 2023 at 11:16 PM ^
We'll be there!
December 7th, 2023 at 6:34 AM ^
i had no idea that betty was that much of a football fan. i guess she remembers the old days when you played. is she aware the helmets aren't leather? have you talked with her about the forward pass?
December 6th, 2023 at 11:20 PM ^
Cheapest on seatgeek for 2 together are $524 plus 20% in fees and taxes.
December 6th, 2023 at 11:24 PM ^
Where is this deal available? The lowest priced ticket right now on Seatgeek for the National Championship game is $1,455.00 and if you want two seats together the cheapest is $1,492.00 and once you add the fees that jumps up to $1960.00
December 7th, 2023 at 6:19 AM ^
Oops I thought this was for the Rose Bowl
December 7th, 2023 at 12:43 AM ^
False. Tickets are at least 3x more than that. If they were that cheap, TX fans would have already bought all of them up.
December 6th, 2023 at 11:21 PM ^

Michigan Athletics Donor Point Ranking

so i only need 17,550 of you to bow out of the ticket race and i will be #1!
December 6th, 2023 at 11:24 PM ^
Cheapest you will find them on secondary market in 2 grand for upper and 3 for endzones when you add fees. I won't mention sidelines.
December 7th, 2023 at 12:23 AM ^
OP - if you don’t plan to attend, I’d be happy to buy 2 tickets off of you for what you pay or a bit more for your trouble
Can’t make it to the Rose Bowl, but would love the opportunity to see the game in Houston near face if possible.
December 7th, 2023 at 3:40 AM ^
Me too. I’m buying flights and hotel and waiting to see what happens.
Anyone wants to sell any, let me know.
December 7th, 2023 at 8:50 AM ^
Same boat. I will be in Houston. Now I just need to figure out how to get in the game without selling 1 of my kids. But if it comes down to it, I’ve decided which kid I will sell.

The Deion Sanders approach is alive and well.
December 7th, 2023 at 12:23 AM ^
Got the mail earlier this evening. Until I saw the price I'd been determined to grab a pair of tickets. Since, there is much consternation and unwise attempts to rationalize the purchase. Like others I'm leery of being tagged with tickets in the middle to upper part of the range.
December 7th, 2023 at 12:53 AM ^
Is this even fun?
December 7th, 2023 at 1:16 AM ^
Go to Best Buy. Spend that money on a BIG TV and surround sound speakers.
Food is cheaper.
Drinks are cheaper.
Line for bathroom is non-existant.
Sleep happily in your own bed after Michigan victory.
Joy over beating Alabama: Priceless

You forgot the last one, Regret the rest of your life for not seeing the NC in person.
December 7th, 2023 at 8:51 AM ^
This is the best take.
December 7th, 2023 at 11:27 AM ^
Yeah, to each their own but, personally, this is a possibly once in a lifetime opportunity. I've never been to the Rose Bowl so that's a no brainer. I'm all in for as far as they go.
December 7th, 2023 at 6:04 AM ^
I need 3 if anybody ends up with 3 extra. Would love to avoid the secondary market, especially if Texas makes it.
December 7th, 2023 at 6:17 AM ^
This is pretty much in line with ticket prices for the last 2 championship games so no suprise here.
December 7th, 2023 at 6:31 AM ^
I was at the Rose Bowl on Jan 1 1998 to witness our last national championship. Recall having to scrape together the money to afford to go, after convincing the wife it may be a once in a lifetime experience, and it was worth every penny. I still have vivid memories of that whole day that will stay with me forever, as well as some photos of my friends and I celebrating in the stands and after the game that are priceless. If you are in the position that I was in back in 1997-1998, I would strongly suggest that you find a way to attend. Life is about experiences.
December 7th, 2023 at 7:36 AM ^
What if I reimbursed you for the tickets. I don't have the points to likely get them, but am willing to pay for them. Assuming they aren't upper bowl tickets. I actually already have tickets that I bought secondary (3k a piece by the way), so if I could get $1300 tickets and even give you some money to the hassle, I could resell the ones I already bought to recoup and come out ahead.
December 7th, 2023 at 7:37 AM ^
Last year, the cutoff for getting tickets to the championship game was around 160 points, which was lower than I expected based on cutoffs for the Big Ten championship and Fiesta Bowl. This could be a combination of a larger number of tickets set aside, being further away, and a potentially more expensive ticket. I am a bit under this unless I make some additional donations, but not that far off. I would guess there will be more requests this year since we seem to have a better chance of winning this year and don’t have an injury to our best running back.
