Illinois used stolen signals against Michigan football in 2022, Ohio State accused too
I'm sure Ryan Walters has a very plausible defense that requires due process....
November 6th, 2023 at 4:03 PM ^
Did you just envision this in your dream or do you have a link/source?
November 6th, 2023 at 4:04 PM ^
Really taking the "all accusations are confessions" idea to an extreme here.
November 6th, 2023 at 4:07 PM ^
About 1/3rd of the threads made about this situation has been similarly bat shit looney, if we are going to be honest.
November 6th, 2023 at 4:10 PM ^
That number is way too low.
November 6th, 2023 at 5:27 PM ^
But we really want them to be true!
November 6th, 2023 at 4:08 PM ^
Guilt by accusation.
November 6th, 2023 at 4:06 PM ^
I think the intended link is this one:
"Illinois used stolen signals against Michigan football in 2022, Ohio State accused too"
What might be new is a claim that an Illinois staff acknowledges the sign-stealing: "The staffer said that Bret Bielema and Illinois got signals 'legally' but I guess we’ll just have to take their word for it."
The OSU part is a link to a prior Chris Balas article: https://www.on3.com/teams/michigan-wolverines/news/how-michigan-football-dealt-with-ryan-walters-allegedly-knowing-their-own-signs/
November 6th, 2023 at 5:02 PM ^
Cleary Ryan Walters meant to say “The pot calling the kettle black” instead of “calling a spade a spade”.
November 6th, 2023 at 5:24 PM ^
And the handshake, as I understand it…
”Walters was clearly aware of Harbaugh’s history of handshakes, and knew that his false allegations could get his fingers crushed and his arm yanked out of his socket, all followed by a congratulatory slap on the back and “how bout them apples”.
The diminutive Walters smartly went for a quick hand slap and pulled away. “
November 6th, 2023 at 8:01 PM ^
As we’ve acknowledged, stealing signs is perfectly legal. There is no accusation here
November 6th, 2023 at 4:12 PM ^
Here's what's potentially a corroborating story from the AP:

Waiting for Pete Thamel to weigh in before I make my own judgement.
November 6th, 2023 at 4:15 PM ^
He spoke with The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because he feared the disclosures could impact his coaching career.
lol he's trying to get a job at a program that can actually win
November 6th, 2023 at 4:16 PM ^
So Michigan has spreadsheets and text messages, involving multiple schools, sharing and stealing Michigans signals!
where is the outcry?
Oh the humanity!!!!
November 6th, 2023 at 4:17 PM ^
NOW you're talking! And great move leaking it to the AP as now it will be easily available to nearly every news organization in the country.
November 6th, 2023 at 4:20 PM ^
Ha ha ha. Nice. Someone just fell of their moral high horse. So, one can legally obtain signs. I thought that is not possible at all. Both Pete are going to have a head explosion. Ryan Day going to need more dye as he starts to worry who is going to snitch on him.
November 6th, 2023 at 4:50 PM ^
ESPN probably waiting until the prime time slot to report this.
November 6th, 2023 at 5:20 PM ^
So it's okay to "legally" steal signs and then share them with other schools? As long as you don't buy tickets for your buddies or go to a game in person, no biggie.
I hope more of these stories continue to bubble up so that the B1G and the cry baby other coaches can just shut up. What a bunch of hypocrites.
November 6th, 2023 at 4:03 PM ^
Did you forget to put a link to an article with info on your headline?
November 6th, 2023 at 4:04 PM ^
Your link contains absolutely nothing to support your headline. What are you talking about?
November 6th, 2023 at 4:04 PM ^
Glad I’m not going crazy here.
November 6th, 2023 at 4:04 PM ^
He might but.. That link isn't what you think it is
November 6th, 2023 at 4:04 PM ^
Yeah, I think you linked to the wrong article. A new take on the lack of link in the post mistake.
November 6th, 2023 at 4:05 PM ^
Is OP having a stroke? Or am I?
November 6th, 2023 at 4:07 PM ^
I think it’s Mel Tucker.
November 6th, 2023 at 4:09 PM ^
Mel Tucker ... strokes ... trying to think of a joke here.
November 6th, 2023 at 4:10 PM ^
Be honest; is there any time you aren't having a stroke?
November 6th, 2023 at 4:05 PM ^
That boy ain’t right.
November 6th, 2023 at 4:05 PM ^
Did you grab a link from the wrong tab or something
November 6th, 2023 at 4:05 PM ^
Is there a source? Your link is the old article about Walter’s statement last week.
November 6th, 2023 at 4:06 PM ^
I came here after seeing the “expect … this week” reference in the front page game reflection. The title for this thread pleased my lack of patience. But wtf is happening here with an irrelevant link dated to last week?
November 6th, 2023 at 4:10 PM ^
Google is my friend, so here’s this:
LINK
—though I had hoped to find something from a non-M outlet. On that front, I came up empty (did I try hard enough? Unclear).
November 6th, 2023 at 4:06 PM ^
This post is shite.
November 6th, 2023 at 4:06 PM ^
You either posted the wrong link, or you completely misunderstood the story you linked. Like dog-doing-algebra misunderstood it.
I hope for you it was the former.
November 6th, 2023 at 4:09 PM ^
Thanks for saving this thread lil man

This article lacks any real substance. If we're going to rail against anonymous sources when it's used against us, we can't turn a blind eye when it's used for our benefit. Maybe there's a little smoke, but I see no signs of a fire (at least yet).
November 6th, 2023 at 4:17 PM ^
No, you're not understanding how this works. You gotta fight fire with fire. Speculative anonymous sources are perfectly fine for the rest of the media, therefore we should be using them too. Circumstantial evidence is perfectly fine. Illinois was a middling team and lost to MSU and Purdue in the two weeks before they came to Ann Arbor and held our offense to its lowest point total of the season. That clearly suggests they cheated.
November 6th, 2023 at 4:10 PM ^
Good for them. You are allowed to "steal" (decode) signals. Nice hustle.
November 6th, 2023 at 4:19 PM ^
But are analysts allowed to recruit unaffiliated freelance videographers to outsource in-person scouting?
November 6th, 2023 at 4:14 PM ^
I was thinking about 2018 the other day. Watson got straight up abused. I’m not sure if it was scheme, theft, or Watson.
if you think about it, Michigan really had osu beat in 2016 and 2017 (metellus dropped pick 6 away from 21-0… with o’korn)
November 6th, 2023 at 4:08 PM ^
I'm seeing buzz that a big bomb is about to drop on OSU, this isn't it is it? Because....
November 6th, 2023 at 4:08 PM ^
I think he meant this link
Edit: damn second place sucks.
November 6th, 2023 at 4:10 PM ^
Correct, thank you. It wouldn't upload the correct one for me. I only realized as much after I clicked save.
November 6th, 2023 at 4:10 PM ^
That's what Ryan Day said.
November 6th, 2023 at 4:18 PM ^
Isn’t that what Ryan Day’s wife said to Ryan?
November 6th, 2023 at 4:08 PM ^
My apologies, neg away. The link that I was trying to upload failed to do so. It was from Chris Peterson
November 6th, 2023 at 4:09 PM ^
Also, idk if I'm missing something, but I don't get why Walters comments are a big deal or offensive. All I've seen is he said we stole his signals, and then he repeated it when asked. That does seem to be the truth, right? Stalions stole them but we don't think anyone else on our staff knew, impact is getting blown out of proportion etc. But from what I'm seeing, what Walters said doesn't seem that infuriating, he literally said "It's not like a big deal" in this piece https://sports.yahoo.com/ryan-walters-doubles-down-michigan-052607378.h…
Did he say something worse I'm missing, or call on Harbaugh to get suspended or something?
