The Sign-Fuss Affair: Report says NFL Will Likely Enforce NCAA -Harbaugh Vendetta
The article points to "precedent" from 18 years ago when Terelle Pryor was suspended for 5 games to honor the NCAA punishment or whatever. My impression is that this is a bunch of stupid people feeling obligated to do / say something despite having no idea what's going on.
I am concerned that Jim will soon be banned from Church, eating dairy, crossing the street in the daytime, Whole Foods. Gonna be a whole boycott / sanction campaign until he lives on the sidewalk in front of Michigan Stadium, begging for day old croissants from Drip House employees.

See Carroll, Pete ; if a team / billionaire owner really wants him this will have no impact...
October 29th, 2023 at 1:24 PM ^
Exactly. The NFL cares not at all about the ncaa.
October 29th, 2023 at 1:31 PM ^
Except for the age-old method of getting NFL players trained & developed for 3-4 years for free.
October 29th, 2023 at 4:24 PM ^
It doesn't care about ncaa rules & regulations.
October 29th, 2023 at 2:07 PM ^
Look at this shit:
“There isn't a bylaw governing the matter. But sources pointed to former Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel as precedent for how the NFL and its teams could handle a college suspension of Harbaugh…”
Fucking obvious what’s happening…
October 29th, 2023 at 2:19 PM ^
It took two writers to put together this 1,000 word opinion piece for NFL News: Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.
Tom Pelissero, Will Hobson (Washington Post article), and Ryan Day were all at Boston College at the same time in the early 2000s.
October 29th, 2023 at 3:57 PM ^
Isn't it ironic, don't you think? Ohio State is the role model of how to implement NCAA punishments in the NFL.
October 29th, 2023 at 4:39 PM ^
The NFL didn't suspend Tressel, and the Colts just delayed his employment start date as a "replay-game consultant" until the seventh week of the season, at Tressel's request.
Tressel's case provides no NFL precedent for a hypothetical Harbaugh hire.
October 29th, 2023 at 2:50 PM ^
And specifically, the NFL could not care less about this silly, frivolous claptrap.
October 29th, 2023 at 1:09 PM ^
This is getting more ridiculous every day
October 29th, 2023 at 1:49 PM ^
Hold fast....
October 29th, 2023 at 6:13 PM ^
No kidding. I thought Bleacher Report sourcing was banned here.
October 29th, 2023 at 1:10 PM ^
Can we please just hear from the NCAA and Michigan at this point?
October 29th, 2023 at 1:25 PM ^
Probably 2024.
October 29th, 2023 at 1:53 PM ^
Not until 9 months to 6 years from now.
October 29th, 2023 at 5:50 PM ^
If the NCAA had something damning to say it wouldve been said through somebody by now. Each day that goes by is our friend. OSU and Cyan Day released all their leaks and they are out of steam. Now its time to nut up or shut up and these click baiters will scurry away as soon as they came.
October 29th, 2023 at 1:13 PM ^
Just fine the school fire Stallions and move on.
October 29th, 2023 at 1:30 PM ^
Honestly, that needs to happen. The school doesn't need the same kind of evidence the courts do. You have evidence he was doing something wrong, you fire him. And you denounce the activity.
I have resisted calls for Warde's head for years now, but. . . I don't ever feel like Michigan gets out in front of these deals.
October 29th, 2023 at 2:22 PM ^
Michigan has smart lawyers that are advising them on exactly how to proceed. Some of these decisions you only get to make once.
October 29th, 2023 at 1:15 PM ^
MICHIGAN AGAINST THE WORLD!!!!!!
October 29th, 2023 at 1:31 PM ^
Guess you missed the discussions here just a week ago where Seth and others talked about how lame this idea is.
October 29th, 2023 at 1:46 PM ^
Did you get this from your crisis kit?
October 29th, 2023 at 1:52 PM ^
yea, that'll work
October 29th, 2023 at 1:17 PM ^
Ah, Bleacher Report. Here's a piece of theirs from 2011 on the Pryor affair:
From the source (https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-likely-won-t-be-safe-harbor-for-michigan-hc-jim-harbaugh-from-potential-ncaa)
"There isn't a bylaw governing the matter."
Let that sink in for a minute.
Just after that:
"But sources pointed to former Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel as precedent for how the NFL and its teams could handle a college suspension of Harbaugh ..."
At least Pryor's actions were at least somewhat related to his path to the NFL.
October 29th, 2023 at 1:17 PM ^
Even reddit/cfb, which has been a nightmare the last 10 days, labeled this article "opinion".
October 29th, 2023 at 1:18 PM ^
Giving him the Colin Kaepernick treatment... I don't believe anything they say.
October 29th, 2023 at 1:18 PM ^
I don't see how this is bad news for us. More incentive for Harbaugh to stay at Michigan. And if Michigan gets hammered with sanctions (which I don't think will happen) Harbaugh will likely be here to help clean the mess.
October 29th, 2023 at 2:29 PM ^
It's probably bullshit, but since we would like to keep it, I don't think our reaction can be anything but "That's great news!"
October 29th, 2023 at 1:19 PM ^
Angry, motivated Jim is the best Jim.
October 29th, 2023 at 5:10 PM ^
You don’t spit into the wind and you don’t mess around with Jim 🎶
October 29th, 2023 at 1:23 PM ^
This is all speculation and stupid. Just NFL reporters trying to get some mileage out of Michigan clickbait.
Why don't we write an article about what would happen if Harbaugh wanted to coach in the CFL right away, too?
October 29th, 2023 at 2:04 PM ^
Yes, but keep the receipts.
October 29th, 2023 at 2:16 PM ^
We need to know what Taylor Swift would think about a possible Jim Harbaugh NFL suspension! </s>
October 29th, 2023 at 4:02 PM ^
I heard she likes Jim, but it's exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero.
October 29th, 2023 at 1:23 PM ^
My impression is that this is a bunch of stupid people feeling obligated to do / say something despite having no idea what's going on.
yes, that’s the only place this is hap…(looks at mgoboard)…never mind.
October 29th, 2023 at 1:25 PM ^
I think we should generally stop posting every stupid hot take article out there. These are click bait and provide no new information and most of them are flat out wrong. The NFL does not care about anything other than wins and money.
October 29th, 2023 at 1:36 PM ^
Just for the record I did mean to post the original NFL.com article where Rapoport cites "league sources" which is possibly bullshit but is more substantial than just an opinion. TBH the bleacher report one just summarizes.
October 29th, 2023 at 1:50 PM ^
Respectfully, the NFL cares about a lot more than you noted.
Haven’t you hard about Taylor Swift and Travis Kielce?
Oh, besides that.. it’s the NFL and more money…but, you mentioned that…
October 29th, 2023 at 1:27 PM ^
Uh...cool? Thanks for making it easier for us to keep Jim, Goodell
Also keep in mind that NFL insiders are almost always hilariously wrong about anything Harbaugh or Michigan related. I think Jim's accepted 3 or 4 NFL jobs by now per Rapaport
October 29th, 2023 at 2:06 PM ^
Jim Goodell, that paragon of virtue, overseer at the New Plantation, Inc., the NFL.
October 29th, 2023 at 1:31 PM ^
Words are important. “Report says” usually means some organization has issued an official sponsored, document. “Reporters say” is much more accurate here, and refers to whatever crap spews from reporters mouths.
October 29th, 2023 at 1:35 PM ^
Beyond stupid.
October 29th, 2023 at 1:38 PM ^
This report is ridiculous. Whoever is running this PR campaign seems to be getting desperate
October 29th, 2023 at 1:40 PM ^
Ok so this helps keep JH at Michigan?? Thanks
October 29th, 2023 at 1:42 PM ^
This is some "Alice's Restaurant" shit right here, given that Sean Payton can still coach (as just one example).
October 29th, 2023 at 1:44 PM ^
TP? Notice how these all are gravitating toward O$U examples?
October 29th, 2023 at 1:47 PM ^
It's funny how these guys just want to make shit up for clicks. Yes, 17 years ago a consultant was told to wait 5 games before he could get back to consulting...whatever that meant...for the Colts. Methinks an NFL team that hires Harbaugh as an HC might not give a shit what the NCAA winds up wanting, especially if the "violation" turns out to be something a bunch of teams do.
October 29th, 2023 at 2:09 PM ^
It looks like that decision on Tressel was only made by the Colts (not the league) after the league imposed the suspension on Pryor, and people were like, hey, why is the kid being punished and not the adult?
Tressel -- who also was suspended five games by Ohio State, but ultimately resigned as Buckeyes coach amidst the scandal -- had taken a game-day consultant job with the Colts, and the NFL's decision on Pryor raised questions. As is often the case with coaches, the league allowed the team to handle the case, and the Colts announced Tressel wouldn't be with the club until Week 7 of the 2011 season.
It was an easy PR move for the Colts just to shut people up. There is absolutely no reason to think the NFL will uphold an NCAA suspension for a coach. In fact, the NFL has never done it. The Colts did.
October 29th, 2023 at 1:47 PM ^
The NFL really only cares about one thing… the NFL.
If there are no (or limited) criminal (not civil) legal proceedings - no one will have any idea, or care.
I hope Harbaugh coaches at Michigan for the rest of his career.. and, that he’s in Ann Arbor for a very, very long time.
