EDGE Darien Mayo Cancels Official Visit for the Weekend
ON3 (paywalled) reporting that Darien Mayo has cancelled his OV to Michigan.

Everything trending to Clemson. Would have been great to have a shot to convince him, but at least he's not trending to OSU.
Awww shucks. That's a heckin' shame.
Still a ways to go until signing day.
We pulled a late flip with Keon Sabb away from Clemson a couple of cycles ago - so there is a chance.
Unfortunate, but I guess we have to hold the mayo.
Mayo tastes like what I imagine shame tastes like.
Hope Robinson commits soon, and the other J. Smith. I feel like Curtis, Sullivan, and the OLB J. Smith along with Baxter can hold down WDE/ Rush. We need a few strong side DE’s.
Don't hold your breath with Robinson. Nichols probably our best bet for SDE types. Personally I prefer Robinson but seems like the coaches don't share that opinion.
Agreed. Robinson is visiting Illinois today so something is odd with that recruitment.
In the grand scheme of things, I would rather have a Wafle or a Beigel than some Mayo.
I really love Chiles. I'm hoping he reconsiders.
We just added USC. A.Chiles is not going to a conference where he has to face Trojans.
That's a heel of a statement.
Extremely creative. Well done, dragon.
If it weren’t for the lack of spacing in his name this would have taken me far longer to get
What, is this all Greek to you??
A. Chiles huh?
You sound like a Homer.
Michai Boireau also tweeted that he's not coming, committed to Florida on Monday.
Well fuckshit, who isn't committing to that tire fire called Florida???
Stay tuned - from what I what I understand down here in Panama City Florida the Gators are going to win a lot of games this year. Florida State is supposed to be even better.
Will it happen? 🤷♂️
It’s not like Mayo would go well with Graham anyway.
I believe we had to pass on him because a Beigel with Mayo is an NCAA violation
He had to go to the Mayo Clinic.
Don't cry over spilled mayo
joke aside, was this another NIL aka pay4play situation where Michigan told him
Darn. I think he’s going to be a good player and wanted him at Michigan. Agree that Clemson is much better than OSU, who I think rounded out his top 3.
Sucks, but seems like we are in a decent position for a few others. Haven't heard anything on Brian Robinson lately but we hold crystal balls for him. Jacob Smith we hopefully get soon since we have his brother. Elias Rudolph seems likely along with Dominic Nichols.
Robinson hasn't been offered by osucks? #3 player in the state thats visited twice but they havent offered him? What the shit is going on there?
We'll still be fine, unless the coaching staff decides to settle for Miracle Whip.
We're going to upgrade to 5* Deli Mustard.
3 weeks ago the story was "you want to have a prospect's last visit." I don't wanna hear that story anymore. Normal rules do not apply to Michigan recruiting. Live and learn!
Underrated comment. Seems to work against us a lot. Perhaps selective memory
I felt once Chile's went to Florida we wouldn't get Mayo. We should still have one he'll of a defensive line class.
Chiles to Florida has nothing to do with Mayo. If it did why would he be trending to Clemson
They are teammates and talked about wanting to play with eachother at the next level. It was one of the primary reasons for optimism.
As for "why would he be trending to Clemson?", decisions are complex things. The desire to team up with another player is one of many considerations.
The all-food defense is being torn up before it was ever a thing, and it makes me sad.
Gotta think that Chiles to Florida played a part in this
Tatum, Chiles, and Mayo were all supposed to visit this weekend and no longer are :(
At LB, I wonder what the plan is there now that Chiles committed to UF. Sam Webb said today we will continue recruiting him, but do we just take Jeremiah Beasley and call it a class since we have hybrid guys like Sullivan and Jaden Smith?
I had made a post pondering when Jaden Smith commited how it was going to affect Lb recruiting. From the standpoint of looking at the structure of the class and without any insider knowledge it appears Smith was a direct back up plan to Chile’s and that the coaches knew about the Florida commitment before hand. There’s a lot of Lbs in the class now with guys even like Mason Curtis. I’ve read posts where people say he’s an edge/OLB type but I don’t think so.
I don't think the coaches knew about Chiles planning to commit to Florida. I think the staff was planning to take both Chiles and Jaden Smith if they could.
Weird that Smiths commitment came around the same time Chiles went with Florida. Didn’t really remember hearing much about Smith beforehand.
I think the staff was shocked by Chiles committing somewhere else and not even taking his OV to Michigan. Smith seemed independent of that even though they're both LBs.
Beasley isn't a given, either. When recruitments draw out like this, also with Robinson, it is for a reason and often not good.
Not saying you are wrong, but Beasley said he was going to commit in July (not sure if he ever gave a firm date) well before he went on official visits.
Beasley’s recruitment isnt “drawn out.” He’s maintained the timeline he had set long ago. Taking a few officials (official visits didn’t start until June) and committing before his senior year starts.
He has a commitment set for June 29th. Fitting perfectly with his previously stated timeframe.
Believe it or not, just because a kid doesn’t commit on your timeline doesn’t mean the recruitment is “drawn out.” Despite us sitting at 21 commits right now, it is still very early in the process and some players actually want to utilize their ability to visit schools for free.
Its crazy how people think things are drawn out now. Remember the days where Michigan would get commitments in November and December? This is the first time I can remember having this many commit before July. How can anyone complain about this class?
Yeah it’s definitely weird to see people crying in JUNE that players aren’t committing quick enough for their liking.
Holland seems to think the coaches are pissed at Chiles and are not recruiting him anymore.
Rivals guys said the same on their podcast too.
It seems their wasn't honest communication between the parties.
When Florida goes 5-7 and he wants back, I hope he doesn't end up at a big ten school... Assuming this is true
Sam Webb was basically saying that it would no longer be a full staff effort, but a few guys would maintain contact. So that basically tracks
Several different michigan fb pages, some said he was a silent commit to the staff. Idk how true that is. So not sure where things are going from here but I can see the staff letting chiles walk if the communication was not there.
Damn that sucks. I think he could have ended up the best player in this class
