You're saying they're paying…

You're saying they're paying Cousins $90 million for one year.  And that's somehow not a mistake?  Either the signing or the draft pick was a massive mistake.  Maybe both.

I believe he could get…

I believe he could get Goldin himself for 1 year as a grad transfer

I think I'm not alone when I say Brian being breaded doesn't even make my list.

Look forward to the beautiful sound of silence from our rivals and haters, who just lost their last legitimate negative talking point about Michigan

Georgia benefitted greatly…

Georgia benefitted greatly from their ass kicking of a very depleted FSU team.  The stats don't take into account all the missing players, just the stats from FSU's previous games.

True, but it doesn't…

True, but it doesn't guarantee being a 1st round pick.  You could change it to:  Elite recruiting or good recruiting with a 1st round QB.

If 2014 OSU is the best example that can be found of a team winning without elite recruiting or a 1st round QB, it pretty much proves the point

UGA and OSU's seasons are…

UGA and OSU's seasons are basically over.  I don't think we'll have their level of attrition, but it's not a fair comparison until we're done, hopefully holding up a trophy on January 8th.

The difference between 16/21…

The difference between 16/21 for 165, a 110.2 NFL passer rating and 14/22 for 120, a 77.8 NFL passer rating could literally be a couple plays either made or not made by the receivers.

And, as mentioned, it's hard to evaluate the responsibilities of and ILB in pass coverage.  So, if PFF is going off stats, it's surprising to see such a big dropoff.

Orji should provide our…

Orji should provide our defense with an excellent approximation of Milroe too

Good point.  Especially…

Good point.  Especially since both linesmen stand on the sidelines and hear everything going on, including discussions regarding the opposing team's signs.

"If you told me he walked…

"If you told me he walked into the wrong interview with a briefcase full of pot but showed some chutzpah explaining it away and that earned him the gig I wouldn’t be totally shocked."

That explains the Harvard Law Degree.  Clearly it's a fake!

Not a lawyer, but guessing…

Not a lawyer, but guessing it would just cost some legal fees to show that the B1G breached our agreement with them

It's probably unusual for Colorado, but it's very common in the B1G West, where 6 of the 7 teams often kick off at 11am central.

I saw somewhere that he hit…

I saw somewhere that he hit 21 mph in only a few steps on one of his runs.  Elite.

"I'm sure a covered receiver…

"I'm sure a covered receiver has hauled in a pass and gotten away with it like it's not even a big deal."

See the long TD at Nebraska 2 years ago that was a huge play in the game.  I think Frost knew exactly what he was doing too.  If they have the guts to flag it, it's 5 yards.  If not, it's a long TD.  With "corrupt, stupid, arrogant officials," I'll take that chance every time.

Corporations should figure…

Corporations should figure out that at some point your brand is being associated with "I hate you, give me the football back."

It's odd to see Brian take that stance, when the site has TruStage come in for frequent random, unpredictable commercial breaks when we read/view its articles.  I have no issue with all the ads on the sides and bottom of the page, but when an ad takes up literally the entire page, with no option to remove it for up to 30 seconds, it irritates me to the point where I'd never consider TruStage's services, no matter how good/cheap they may be.

TruStage I hate you, give me mgoblog back!

Yeah, I don't know who…

Yeah, I don't know who TruStage is, but I guarantee I'll never buy any of their products/services!

I don't know why they allow that type of advertising.  It blocks the entire screen and there's no way to get rid of it!

But in this case 23 was better than 45, at least according to former Flyin' Illini Nick Anderson before he entered witness protection...

The Athletic annually does…

The Athletic annually does the exercise you referred to, re-ranking classes 4 years after the fact.  The 2018 and 2019 classes both finished 3rd in the re-rankings.  2019's class was initially ranked 8th, and 2018's class had a more dramatic rise, starting at 22nd!

It's been proven overall that stars do matter, but that doesn't mean that an individual program can't fairly consistently beat the system with high-level scouting and player development.  It's a little early to conclude that we'll be able to do that, but the pattern from 2018-19 suggests that it's possible.

I believe we had to pass on…

I believe we had to pass on him because a Beigel with Mayo is an NCAA violation

The college determining…

The college determining credits is the issue, not admissions.

It's not just that Shannon and Love weren't satisfied with the small number of credits transferring. It's that the small number of credits transferring would make them academically ineligible to compete.

Athletes have to show sufficient progress towards a degree based on their number of years in college.  If Love had 90 credits at UNC, but UM only accepted 30 credits, all of a sudden he's going into his 4th year with only 30 credits, making him academically ineligible.

Sam Adams Cold Snap.  They…

Sam Adams Cold Snap.  They advertise it as a winter seasonal and limit sales to the winter months, but it's actually a great hot weather beer too.

Next up is the Dragon's Milk Reserve 2022 edition, which IMHO is the best beer ever made.  Dragon's Milk is awesome to begin with, but this edition has hints of chili to go with cinnamon and vanilla.  First time they've made this in roughly a decade.  Great kick at the end with the chilies

Brady.  He'd tear apart any college D.  2nd choice would be Hutch, because it's a position of need.  OSU could avoid Woodson and still have great options

Only if they've already…

Only if they've already graduated. No chance we'd accept credits from Princeton, Harvard, or Stanford.  If a junior from one of those schools wants to transfer to Michigan, he better be ready to start again as a freshman!

Wasn't it Will Johnson, not Quinten, who missed the big tackle over the middle?

Fastest RB in his draft… Fastest RB in his draft class. Hawkins gets a bad rap for not catching him.

I suppose waiting til Nebraska preserves his redshirt unless we go to the playoffs, in which case it's definitely worth burning.

Surprised his answer on "preventing explosive runs" didn't include anything about avoiding taco bell and cheap tequila

My favorite too.  Very underrated play, with a great call, especially the NOOO! Without that play, we may not have played in the B1G championship or playoff.

Agreed with everyone who…

Agreed with everyone who said #6 needs to move up.  For me, it was #1.  After a disastrous start that should have been worse for them, OSU had reclaimed momentum in the 2nd quarter and looked certain to score on their first drive of the 2nd half in my BPONE frame of mind.  That individual effort by Ross was the most significant play of the game IMO.  They seemed to have that play blocked well enough to get the 1st down until he exploded into the backfield.  After that, we took off and never looked back.

The school doesn't pay the…

The school doesn't pay the players in NIL.  Outside organizations do.  And those organizations decide how much they are willing to pay any given player.  There is no school paying players directly, as it would be a blatant title 9 violation if they weren't playing all athletes equally.

There really isn't much…

There really isn't much point in recruiting top 10 guys like Diabate and Houstan.  As others have pointed out, freshmen rarely dominate, 5-star or not.  So you get one year of mediocre production before the NBA drafts them based on potential.  It's a waste of time and energy on the recruiting trail.  The juice isn't worth the squeeze.

If you're looking for one year of production, it's better to allocate resources towards the portal.  I'd bet that the last 5 years the top 10 transfers to power 5 schools have outperformed the top 10 incoming freshmen on the court.  I'm guessing the same would be true even if you restricted the transfer pool to grad transfers (due to our horrible record of accepting credits from other schools). And it takes far less time and effort to get them to campus.

If we won't accept many of his TTU credits, which is likely, perhaps his Michigan credits would transfer to TTU and allow him to graduate there

I believe he's the wimpy kid…

I believe he's the wimpy kid in the Diary of Wimpy Kid series.  Hard to believe he became a QB at Michigan after all those travails..

I'm usually as pessimistic…

I'm usually as pessimistic as anyone about officiating, but if there ever were a night for us to get a good whistle, this is it.  The B1G has gone out of their way to avoid making a decision on how they'll crown a regular season champ.  If we win this game, no decision will be necessary. An Illini win brings into play some uncomfortable scenarios for the new B1G leadership, who already are under heat for botching the football season.
