One (of many) reason why the Lions consistently suck
Patricia said the generational gap makes it such that players are "more comfortable with this technology than any of the coaches."
"They’re used to this stuff, they can just click on, click off, and they probably have phones and tablets and computers," he said. "Most of us, if we’re not in the same spot, in the exact same situation, clicking on the exact same app, we’re lost."
In other words, the Lions are all using Myspace?
and CompuServe
I see the Lions as AOL users. Apparently there still are some!
Tymshare folks. Tymshare.
where they use webcrawler
Netscape with EarthLink dialup
The Lions have a telegraph line connecting their Allen Park facility to Ford Field.
So in the playoffs this year?
With no fans in the stands that would be a very Lions thing to have happen.
At least they won’t have any problems filling every fourth seat
Is that considered a sellout?
I think blackout is the word you're looking for.
Still trying to figure out how to get his free trial of AOL CD into his iPad.
Interesting comment from a guy who went to RPI (a great engineering school) and bragged about studying rocket science.
Based on his results, so far, he should have stuck to rockets
No, imagine what a disaster that would have been given his lie-down's coaching success.
* Insert images of 1950’s era test rockets exploding here.
I guess we should thank our lucky stars he wasn’t put in charge of designing the Saturn V or we never would have made it to the moon.
The F1
Imagine that when JFK gave his moon speech our best rocket had 400,000 lbs of thrust (Atlas) - 6 years later the Saturn V took Apollo 8 to the moon with 5 F1s each with 1.5 million lbs of thrust.
So there’s been a generational gap for 60+ years?
And why aren’t good franchises having the same problem?
Well Nick Saban said this forced him to finally learn how to email so there are successful programs with the same struggles
Well you cant really send cash through email. Now with Bitcoin he can send it easily without having it traced.
Pure and simple they’ve had amateurs running the team, I would trust numerous people I know running fantasy teams then the likes of Russ Thomas, Chuck Schmidt, Matt Millen, Martin Mayhew, and Bob Quinn those guys would not win fantasy leagues that I’ve been in.
Patricia isnt old enough to not know how to handle electronic devices. Why is the dude acting like he was born in 1950?
To be fair, he still uses a #2 pencil.
There’s a lot of us out there still doing this. Nothing replaces the smell of that eraser and the freshness of a newly sharpened number 2
The Detroit Lions.
Nothing but excuses since 1957.
4-12 this year.
I can't wait to see Patricia get shitcanned and then cause some scene as he's getting escorted out and bitches about the Detroit media to everyone afterwards. The guy is a complete jackass. Basically another Brad Ausmus where he's a shit coach that acts like a jackass to reporters.
Does this mean the players on the other 31 NFL teams DON'T have access to "phones and tablets and computer?"
The lions suck for one reason and one reason alone -- the family that owns them does not care about football success.
Those morons are using HUEL.

I bet Belicheck knows all of this technology....or maybe his dog helps him out.
Making progress. They were still using the Pony express to send in draft picks back in the 90's. The upgrade to the telegraph was anything but smooth at the turn of the century.
I'm sure Belichick is super tech savvy and that's the reason the Pats have been so good for all these years.
It might just be Rick Forzano Tommy Hudspeth Monte Clark Daryl Rogers Wayne Fontes Bobby Ross Gary Moeller Marty Mohrninweg Steve Marriuci DIck Jauron Rod Marinelli Jim Schwartz Jim Caldwell Matt Patricia and the people who hired them.
Don’t forget Harry Gilmer and Don McCafferty.
What’s really amazing that not a single one of those full-time Lions coaches we’ve listed has ever been a head coach again in the NFL (Jauron was later hired as Bills fulltime HC, but he was only interim with Lions).
Considering the number of retreads that have been rehired over the years across the NFL, that’s an amazing record the Lions have achieved. Detroit truly is the graveyard of coaching careers.
