Rivals National Reporter Corey Evans 'Future Casts' 5* 2020 Wing Joshua Christopher to Michigan
FutureCast is Rivals' version of 247's Crystal Ball. Evans' general use of this tends to be more of a "how the flow of the recruitment is going" thing rather than the Sam Webb or Evan Daniels "done deal" style FWIW.

I just realized this title is like three lines long. Sorry for that.
January 3rd, 2020 at 4:01 PM ^
Don't you dare. Good informative titles are a rare sight here these days. It's good long. That's what she said.
January 3rd, 2020 at 7:34 PM ^
The thread title is fantastic. Great job.
January 3rd, 2020 at 8:45 PM ^
Better too long than too short!!

"That"

It's rather concise by recent standards.
Other OP's may have titled it "FutureCast is Rivals' version of 247's Crystal Ball. Evans' general use of this tends to be more of a "how the flow of the recruitment is going" thing rather than the Sam Webb or Evan Daniels "done deal" style FWIW. Juwan is proving to be a monster recruiter so far...
January 3rd, 2020 at 4:02 PM ^
The only explanation is that he's letting these kids take online classes and he has a bag man infrastructure in place. That's what it takes to recruit elite athletes, right?
Edit: I guess my sarcasm was less than obvious.
January 3rd, 2020 at 4:11 PM ^
If he's bagging, cool.
January 3rd, 2020 at 5:56 PM ^
People here are underestimating his star power, maybe because Todd has t signed yet.... He is a cool cat and the top players want to come here, and what's cool is if takes the court in practice with the current players he is the best one on court. He's building a monster here, standing on the shoulders of Beileins work.
January 3rd, 2020 at 4:12 PM ^
Not sure if he is, or isn’t. But if Michigan basketball is bagging, or even just tipping their toes in the dirty hive of scum and villainy that is AAU basketball, I commend them.
January 3rd, 2020 at 4:23 PM ^
Well that's one explanation.
Parents wanting their kids to play under a 19yr NBA veteran who has won a championship and a guy who was part of the legendary Fab Five shouldn't be dismissed either.
Juwan is a guy that overcame a lot of things, growing up in a single parent family, growing up on the rough east side of Chicago, becoming an McDonald's AA and being a top 5 draft pick...and still graduating with his class even through he left early must be unbelievably impressive to most parents.
If it happens that he's skirting the edges of recruiting, like virtually all the blue bloods do, I have zero issue with it...
Edit: sorry south side of Chicago
January 3rd, 2020 at 4:45 PM ^
The east side of Chicago is...Lake Michigan
To be fair, the waves do get pretty rough
January 3rd, 2020 at 5:26 PM ^
I would call Michigan Avenue the center...so still room for ""East" Chicago...though East Chicago is an Indiana city. East Chicago Washington was the undefeated Indiana state champion in '71-an outstanding team.
Edit: Trgovich won two NCs at UCLA, Bridgeman was a star at Louisville-drafted #8 overall by the Lakers, I believe Stoddard went to North Carolina State-a 2 sport star...he pitched in the majors. Quite the team.
January 3rd, 2020 at 11:34 PM ^
When you think about it, his personal narrative is as compelling as any NBA player in history, current or former.
- Raised by his grandmother in the roughest part of Chicago but managed to stay out of trouble
- McDonald's All-American
- Grandmother died the day he signed his LOI
- Was part of the iconic Fab Five
- Played in two national championship games
- Not implicated in the Ed Martin scandal
- Top 5 NBA draft pick
- First player to leave his college team early to play in the NBA but still graduate on time with his class
- Got his degree to fulfill a promise he made to his grandmother
- NBA All-Star
- Had a 19-year career in the NBA and was the oldest active player in the league at one point
- 2-time NBA Champion

i think everyone's nerves are a bit frayed after the end of the football season...
hard to parse sarcasm from actual posts lately
its all good
January 3rd, 2020 at 4:12 PM ^
Remember when the same people just wanted Juwan to keep Beileins staff and be a figure head essentially.
Must be the “who can we get better?” crowd.
January 3rd, 2020 at 5:07 PM ^
Ah yes! The Chris Balas talkingheads no doubt.
There was no way Juwan could succeed with Yuklich jargon to boot.
January 3rd, 2020 at 10:36 PM ^
Stop making sense!
January 3rd, 2020 at 7:04 PM ^
Or the people who though Howard was a huge mistake - isn't that Wright?
January 3rd, 2020 at 4:03 PM ^
Upvote this man his money.
January 3rd, 2020 at 4:07 PM ^
Do we even have room?
January 3rd, 2020 at 4:12 PM ^
You always have room for top 15 players in basketball
January 3rd, 2020 at 4:12 PM ^
Yes, currently at 13 scholarships for next year. And that's counting Davis who is not guaranteed his 5th year. And you are allowed to sign one over the limit, so we can actually sign two more currently.
I would almost certainly expect some attrition in the offseason.
January 3rd, 2020 at 6:02 PM ^
So, there is still room for his son Jace, should he decide to join his father?
January 4th, 2020 at 11:18 AM ^
He can always be a walk-on. Pretty sure that Juwan and his $100 million + net worth can afford in-state tuition.
Plus I think your kids get some kind of tuition discount If you work for the University.
January 3rd, 2020 at 5:09 PM ^
No, JH is just accepting commits so he can say, psyche! Then he'll slam the Crisler doors in their face. He too cruel!
January 4th, 2020 at 4:29 PM ^
I think we should be fine. Wouldn't be shocked if Davis grad transferred to get more playing time and Nunez transferred as well
January 3rd, 2020 at 4:08 PM ^
Boom.
January 3rd, 2020 at 4:13 PM ^
He's doing his own Fab 5.
January 3rd, 2020 at 4:29 PM ^
With brown and jace most likely walking on this is like a Fab 7. Michigan depending on who leaves could have a 11/12 man rotation.
January 3rd, 2020 at 5:57 PM ^
I'm not 100% sure that this is correct, but people on the board have been saying that Jace can't walk on because he took an offial visit.
January 3rd, 2020 at 6:22 PM ^
there's been a number of posters who have said that, but I haven't seen it stated from a source i would consider legit... not saying its not true though.
It's a bit of a bizarre rule, imo... so the kid gets a official, which he is entitled to and which schools have an allotment to give out to whomever they want... and that precludes him from walking on?
the NCAA sure seems to emphasize enforcing the wrong things while acting totally oblivious to things that they should actually care about.
January 3rd, 2020 at 4:15 PM ^
College b-ball = the ultimate pain killer for Michigan football fans.
January 3rd, 2020 at 9:30 PM ^
What is this football sport of which you speak?
January 3rd, 2020 at 4:25 PM ^
Help us Juwan! Your our only hope!
January 3rd, 2020 at 5:42 PM ^
1. *You're
2. Erik Bakich?
January 3rd, 2020 at 5:54 PM ^
1. Ewer hour
2. Fire Drevno?
January 3rd, 2020 at 4:38 PM ^
Juwan has me excited. Beat MSU this Sunday and the hype will be great.
January 3rd, 2020 at 4:39 PM ^
Impossible. Michigan can't recruit McDonalds All Americans because of bagman and academic standards, or so I was told.
January 3rd, 2020 at 5:25 PM ^
We heard you the first time. And second, third, etc.
January 3rd, 2020 at 5:25 PM ^
It’s Happening!!!!
January 3rd, 2020 at 6:29 PM ^
Christopher is dynamite. If Juwan gets this guy then it'll be insane. I'll probably start flying in for allichigan basketball games and be totally hyped for the bball program (already am but damn this team would be all time great I'm the near future)
Future is bright. Go blue !
January 3rd, 2020 at 9:25 PM ^
If we sign Christopher, watch the jersey sales in Ohio...
January 3rd, 2020 at 6:54 PM ^
I know it's most likely not going to happen but if Michigan signed who we have committed already and added Brown and Christopher, Michigan would have the number one class in the country. That's crazy that this is even possible in Howard's first year.
January 3rd, 2020 at 6:56 PM ^
i personally am enjoying the folks who are arguing this is evidence we can achieve the exact same recruiting results in football, a different sport. really thoughtful stuff.
anyway, if josh christopher joins the class, it will be comprised of 5 of the 7 most highly rated recruits on the team by the 247 composite (only one metric, i know). only zavier and brandon johns would be ranked among this class. incredibly impressive.
January 3rd, 2020 at 6:59 PM ^
Juwan seems like a genuinely good guy not a cocky “look at me, I was a star, bow to me”. But he also seems cool enough to relate to young players, probably because his boys are that age. That combo has to be killer at in home visits. I think he’s going to need to make a good run in the next 1-3 years to sustain this level of recruiting.
January 3rd, 2020 at 7:15 PM ^
With the talent hes bringing in combined with the upper classmen, its inevitable hes gonna be successful. Hes already shown his coaching chops and has a great staff.
January 3rd, 2020 at 10:15 PM ^
I definitely agree with you. It’s pretty exciting to think about the future of this program.
