We are a beacon of greatness in a sea of cheaters and bagmen
December 1st, 2019 at 3:28 AM ^
Delusional. We should declare ourselves the moral victors. We can beat OSU without cheating.
December 1st, 2019 at 3:38 AM ^
Better clear off some space in the trophy case for the "Beacon of greatness in a sea of cheaters and bagmen" silverware.
December 1st, 2019 at 3:40 AM ^
Yeeeeeeooooouuuuuccchhhh!
Take is so hawt I got burnt clicking on it.
December 1st, 2019 at 3:40 AM ^
Life Champions? Fuck that.
Paying for a top tier coaching staff, time to start paying for recruits too.
December 1st, 2019 at 4:47 AM ^
If winning is so important to you that you don't mind breaking the rules why don't you just support some other school that does? There are plenty out there. Are you local and Michigan is the closest, winningest team near you? Look at all the glory you'd have as a Buckeye, maybe you should consider the change; really, what keeps you as a Michigan fan? Is it the helmet?
December 1st, 2019 at 7:23 AM ^
Fuck the “rules”. Who or what are we hurting by paying a player? The amateurism of college football? Lol that shit’s been gone man, face reality. There’s no point in fielding a team if every one else is trying to compete and we’re trying to have fun. Might as well just make it an intramural sport or drop divisions if this is what we’re going to be. I’m not saying we should be beating OSU’s ass but the talent level is just not even close. It’s embarrassing, and it doesn’t look like it’s getting any better. Harbaugh can’t recruit.
December 1st, 2019 at 9:02 AM ^
While I agree with you, keep in mind, the NCAA nailed Michigan harder for practicing too much than it nailed OSU for an agent paying a kid. So, unfortunately, the answer isn't just us doing it too.
December 1st, 2019 at 9:44 AM ^
Chuka, i suppose you think Bama cheats, having signed the 10th #1 recruiting class in 11 years in 2019?
Do i think Bama is 100% compliant? No, secondary violations I'm sure are common but i just don't think Saban is buying players left&right. Nor do i think it's possible to be squeaky clean and be challenging for national championships every year. Big time talents want the best development for the nfl draft, and right now OSU is the surest thing. Young hungry coaches looking to make their bones. I just hope we get 2-3 more years out of this staff before they get opportunities to move up the coaching ladder. Day could go on a pretty impressive run like Dabo & Saban.
UM's only problem is getting to that next level in recruiting, and they do not need to cheat imo to do that. Just keep grinding and developing the best you can. Its hard keeping the good assistants that make a difference, their the next head coaches.
December 1st, 2019 at 7:18 PM ^
Maybe just maybe because we are tired of being trounced by teams that do "break the rules", and that the NCAA by and large does not even give a single fuck anymore about breaking "those" rules. If you want to be a moral high ground fan then start cheering for an Ivy League school.
December 1st, 2019 at 3:51 AM ^
The high and mighty part of our fanbase that has to post "other teams cheat" every time we lose (even to Wisconsin, for some reason) is the absolute fucking worst.
December 1st, 2019 at 4:57 AM ^
Even worse than the ones that condone cheating to level the playing field?
December 1st, 2019 at 6:20 AM ^
O$U is too big to fail (and evidently so is Penn State, but that's another rant). Wall Street Journal pegged their value at $1.5 billion two years ago. It's probably approaching $2 B now.
Every meat headed shit sack in a double wide in Ohio will gladly spend their lot rent on a Chase Young jersey.
The problem is systemic. The B1G has cast their lot with O$U because their fan base will pay and they travel well.
Somehow Gene Smith (who has been the AD director through various scandals that could have easily ended careers elsewhere) is on the Board of Governors of the NCAA.
This nonsense will continue until they are taken to task and investigated. That's why the 2016 game was such a farce and how someone like Chase Young (And Troy Smith and Maurice Clarett, and Carlos Hyde, et al) can accept illegal benefits, get caught, get suspended, apologize and get his suspension cut to two games against their weakest opponents.
But as long as they are bringing in the money, they will do whatever they will get away with and not endure any consequence.
Michigan brings in money as well, but especially after the Fab Five situation (where U of M profited handsomely I might add) they chose road of magnanimity. Magnanimity is a foolish business decision in light of how the NCAA operates.
December 1st, 2019 at 9:05 AM ^
This is why Michigan should explore leaving the B1G. They can get comparable money elsewhere and maybe a fair shake.
December 1st, 2019 at 7:26 PM ^
What conference would you suggest then? Sun-belt? MAC? AAC? Or are you suggesting going independent? Because in order to get to the playoff you are still going to need to play teams that buy recruits.
December 1st, 2019 at 9:39 AM ^
@ferbert
Until schools can openly pay players (maybe image rights opens this up) your description probably remains accurate.
December 1st, 2019 at 1:47 PM ^
We were one of the only football implicated in the adidas / Nike pay for play scandal. We just aren’t good at it
December 1st, 2019 at 7:29 AM ^
100% co-signed.
And based on the absolute nonsense posted here since the game ended it would seem they represent and 25-30% of our fanbase. It's unreal to me how fucking delusional they are that they actually believe they only reason we lose is because other teams cheat and the refs are fixed.
They remind me of little children wailing "it's not fair" when told to go to bed. Have similar emotional and intellectual capabilities too.
They are fucking embarrassing and the sad thing is they dont know it so they just keep wailing "it's not fair".
December 1st, 2019 at 9:53 AM ^
mGrowOld,You win the internet. Gotta recruit better. UM's 2018 class had 3 top 100 recruits, osu 12. Assistants and support staff do the bulk of the recruiting.
December 1st, 2019 at 12:38 PM ^
Today’s young people want instant gratification, which is why the best players continue to go to the small handful of elite schools that challenge for the national championship every year. 20+ years ago it was so different especially with crowning a national champion, the best players tended to spread out to many schools.
December 2nd, 2019 at 2:41 PM ^
Oh fuck off with that shit. College Football has become much less regionalized, and kids want to go to the places with the best chances of getting them into the NFL. That would be Clemson, Ohio State, and Alabama. If they wanted instant gratification, they'd go somewhere they'd start immediately. You don't even know what you're talking about, you're just trying to find some way to blame it on 18 year olds
December 1st, 2019 at 3:57 AM ^
I wish I had what you are smoking. I can’t believe there are actually fans who believe this shit...
December 1st, 2019 at 4:33 AM ^
Are you serious? Recruits do accept money and there are plenty of crooked people out there that do shit for their 'school'.
December 1st, 2019 at 4:01 AM ^
We pay players as well. At least that is what was testified to in Federal Court by Louis Martin Blazer. Look it up.
We have no moral high ground. We just have a mediocre coach, so we get mediocre results.
December 1st, 2019 at 4:42 AM ^
I looked it up. Blazer, a small time financial advisor from Pittsburgh, met with college basketball coaches, players and their mothers, offering them money to urge them to use him after the kid went went pro. I didn't see a football connection, or a Michigan connection, could you clear that up?
December 1st, 2019 at 10:31 AM ^
Google Martin Blazer Michigan football and go to the Detroit Free Press article
December 1st, 2019 at 2:37 PM ^
Detroit Free Press is all I needed to hear.
December 1st, 2019 at 8:42 PM ^
This article said the advisor paid him, not the university. The only coach who they seemed to be referencing was the Penn State and Ohio State coach Larry Johnson.
December 1st, 2019 at 4:25 AM ^
I honestly think this is parody post. No joke.
I got the sarcasm.
December 1st, 2019 at 6:39 AM ^
It does seem a little manic or something. Probably 'something'.
December 1st, 2019 at 4:36 AM ^
Mods are asleep time to launch extremely awful posts
December 1st, 2019 at 5:01 AM ^
What about our players untying their shoes and taking them off in the middle of the game on national tv? That doesn't look good. Or what about the late hit on their QB after he was obviously out of bounds? I think we need a new culture within our team. Something is very off and long time coach, Mattison leaving last year was a big sign.
December 1st, 2019 at 6:24 AM ^
You got the penalty anyway, should have taken the shoe and chucked it into the stands. When he gets another pair, do it again.
December 1st, 2019 at 8:30 AM ^
Obvious troll. Try harder.
December 1st, 2019 at 9:41 AM ^
Untying shoe > Bobby DiGeronimo ?♂️
December 1st, 2019 at 5:22 AM ^
Trying to find something to hold on to there op. It is really simple when you think about it. UM isn't beating OSU anytime soon. UM will never even sniff the playoffs in the foreseeable future. The storied history of your beloved program is all you have left. Accept it and move on, quit with the holier than thou nonsense and your "beacon of greatness" shit. HA!
December 1st, 2019 at 9:45 AM ^
This guy ?
1. Visits opponents fan website.
2. Takes time to create account.
3. Talks shit.
4. Profit?
I am laughing at you random t(tm)OSU slappy. You hate “the whole state of Michigan” but burn with obsession.
December 1st, 2019 at 1:35 PM ^
Nope Michigan fan. Try harder buddy. Your maize and Blue homer glasses keep you from accepting the truth. When you quit laughing how about you come up with a reasonable thought as to when UM might be OSU. If you say next year that would be laughable. Wanna bet next years outcome of THE JOKE in Columbus will be any different. Talking shit is differnt than speaking the truth. The latter of which you and many here can't handle. I am UM fan but I can at least accept reality, you, not so much, and that in of itself is funny! There is no shame in admitting your team is really not that good or elite. Your homer fandom must make life really hard for you.Joke is on you slappy. I have moved on from the beatdown and fully expect it next year. My life is good.
December 1st, 2019 at 3:44 PM ^
Well considering you created your account the day Michigan got blown out by Wisconsin, I’m not really buying your story here. Try harder next time.
December 1st, 2019 at 5:23 AM ^
No.... we fucking arent. A lot of us are arrogant self righteous condescending snarky sarcastic frauds. We keep losing to Ohio state because we treated their fan base and state like sub human scum.
Now karma has come to bring us justice and we cant accept the truth.
December 1st, 2019 at 6:47 AM ^
They are sub human scum!
All kidding aside, just like their fanbase, there are many kinds of fans in each fanbase, and the one you described is one of them, again for just about every fanbase. I'm relatively sure they have fans that are hospitable, rational buckeye fans that enjoy beating us for the spirit of competition. Unfortunately, a significant percentage of their fan base hate us for what we are: A world class institution their inbred asses couldn't get into if their lives depended on it.
I'm kidding again! I am serious about this, though: A lot of their fans wouldn't be right if they didn't beat us. It's like their life is effed up and for that one shining moment in November, it's all golden.
December 1st, 2019 at 8:33 AM ^
Have you been reading some of the takes on this board and others? And you’re still saying OSU fans need a Michigan victory to improve their lives? The funny thing is, as an OSU fan who occasionally frequents this blog, I knew this would happen if OSU won again. If you won, it would be all excitement, all football related, all fun. The moment it went the other way, it became about cheating, morals, ethics, inbred fans, inferior academics, how awful the state of Ohio is, etc etc. One guy started a thread claiming Day ran the score up and has no class. This is what your blog has resorted to, but apparently OSU fans are the ones who need this victory so badly.
December 1st, 2019 at 9:03 AM ^
Yet, here you are. What kind of content did you think you would find? What kind of content do you think you will find on the OSU boards you frequent if you lose to LSU or Clemson?
Your defensiveness and presence here would imply you're one of those OSU fans that need a Michigan victory to improve their lives.
December 1st, 2019 at 9:54 AM ^
But he doesn’t “give a damn about the whole state of Xichigan” you know, except for those times when he’s moralizing on a blog of pissed off football obsessives at MGoBlog.
December 1st, 2019 at 5:29 AM ^
Good lord. The pure stupidity of hot takes after this one is off the charts.
December 1st, 2019 at 5:44 AM ^
Man this board is pure gold
Or pure michigan as Tim Allen would say
Just a delectable mix of take on this board. Beautiful mix of delusional, depressed/resigned, and angry. All with lovely scum undertones of arrogance that makes it so much sweeter
December 1st, 2019 at 5:45 AM ^
This is some dumb troll, right?
December 1st, 2019 at 6:43 AM ^
i can't believe any of you thought this was anything other than trolling. check your meters....
December 1st, 2019 at 7:04 AM ^
