Most talented in-state football programs?
I'm not meaning this to turn into a chance to brag about your high school back in the day, but what school(s) have been the best producers of football talent over the years?
Michigan just offered Kris Jenkins, Jr. from Olney (MD) Good Counsel, but his dad went to Belleville before going to Maryland and then the NFL. Belleville also produced Ian Gold, Devontae Dobbs, Julian Barnett, and a bunch of current (and former) big-time prospects (Andre Seldon, Damon Payne, etc.).
I know Cass Tech, King, Novi Catholic Central, and Farmington Hills Harrison have all produced a ton of talent, but what other schools would you put in the discussion?
I gotta go with a smaller division school but Marine City always pumps out solid teams. You won't see many D1 players but those kids and that town lives for football
Muskegon is not only one of the more traditional powerhouses but also churns out Division 1 Power 5 talent.
You did not meet the requirements of the challenge, therefore you are going home. Pack your bags.

I think you misunderstood his post. Which schools, other than the one's he mentioned produce the most Div 1 talent. King, De La Salle, Brother Rice, and lately it seems like Oak Park.
Get in the backseat bay-bay!!
Now we're shaaarin' the same dreeeam. And our hearts can beat as one. No more love on the run.
Is that the lyric? Thanks for clarifying. I always thought it was "No more nuns on the run."
I think that's how FauxMo sings it.
"Nuns on the run" completely changes the story arc. Let's workshop that a little more and see what we come up with.
Yea I fucked that up
Yea I fucked that up
at least you apologized the same number of times you posted
he's on fire
No one on the west side of the state.
Might not have a ton of D-1 talent, but Muskegon, Rockford, and Lowell on the West Side typically have strong programs with deep playoff runs every year.
I'm thinking D-1 talent. Those programs are pretty solid. EGR used to be pretty decent, but not so much anymore.
Ben Braden and Quinn Nordin would like a word with you.
As would Terrance Taylor, Rojo, Cameron Martinez, Anthony Bradford, Ashton Leggett etc.
Isn't Mike Martin from Muskegon too?
And the Grady brothers were from Grand Rapids.
Martin went to Detroit Catholic Central.
Jalen Mayfield - GR Catholic Central
East GR
EGR has a lot of D3 kids that tend to beat up on D1 kids.
Mazi is from EK.
Muskegon and Mona Shores, each seem to have a handful of kids play D1 ball each year.
Despite the small size, Muskegon has put out a lot of talent. Rojo, Terrance Taylor, and a bunch of other D1 prospects. They're very good for such a small city
Going back a ways in Muskegon but I can think of some pretty great names: Benny Oosterbaan, Jack Weisenberger, (two of the most elite names in U of M football history) Earl Morrall, Jim Morse, Bobby Morse, Dave Whitsell, Frank Howell, Ossie McCarty, Jay Achterhoff, Eric Van Camp, Rob Renes, ...
Renes was a West Ottawa panther. Same for Des Morgan, Matt Vanderbeek(Dallas Cowboy) Ray Holliman(buckeye) Mark Hill(Sparty) Amir Ismeal(KC chief) and several others who played in the MAC.
Really? Nobody from the west side of the state? Willie Snead, Kirk Cousins, David Harris, Joe Staley, Jared Veldheer, Kavon Frazier, Ben Braden and I’m sure a few more from West Mi that have all recently played in the NFL. Also, A LOT more from West MI that have at least played D1.
Yes, the east side of the state produces more talent, but the population on the east side is also much higher than the west side.
Since you mentioned Dave Harris, I’ll bring Reuben Riley into the fold. Also, Obi Ezeh was from GRCC. They had another guy on his team who went to play at Central, Vince something or other I think.
Drake Harris and Keith Nichol were highly rated recruits out of high school. Harris didn't end up doing much. Nichol will be remembered for the hail mary catch against Wisconsin forever at MSU though..
Muskegon
Someone else mentioned it, but Muskegon always has a few D1 kids, and usually at least 1 P5 kid. East Kentwood has been cranking out P5 kids out of nowhere the past two years.
2019 - Logan Brown, Mazi Smith, Stephan Bracey
2020 - Bryce Mostella, Dallas Fincher
Traverse city West not too shabby
Saginaw High, before it closed/merged with Arthur Hill, put out a lot of talent. Most of it was basketball talent, but some good football players, too (specifically Lamarr Woodley). The Saginaw area has been a pretty good bball city for a long time, with some occasional D1 football players.
Saginaw High has not closed or merged with Arthur Hill. Both schools have produced some big time football and basketball athletes. Saginaw Heritage and Nouvel have as well.
They didn't merge? Huh, go figure... I had heard a few years back that merging them was the plan, so I just assumed it was done by now. At the time, I figured that it wouldn't be a good merge - two very different schools in very different locations. I should've known to verify the veracity of my commenting!
It would be a shit show if they merged. The rivalry between the schools was intense. I remember during our rivalry weeks, the Saginaw high guys would come over, pull their cars on to our lawns and do donuts, during the day and while class was in session.
I graduated from Clarkston in 2009, and since then, they've won state in football and basketball a combined 5 times, and produce D1 talent in both all of a sudden. No idea where that was when I was there.
Wrong sport, but you say Clarkson, I think Fife brothers.
They have been better in football in terms of State titles. They have benefited in basketball with Pontiac basically shrinking to nothing.
Agree Clarkston seems to have solid sports programs that produce wanted players
No idea where that was when I was there.
Buckeyes are poisonous, duh. And Clarkston has Michigan uniforms, so...duh.

In Macomb County we have several good programs like Macomb Dakota, Sterling Heights Stevenson, Utica Eisenhower, Warren De La Salle. Many of their athletes are Division 2 types or low Division 1, but they are good programs none the less.
You forgot the division 1 champs last year Chip Valley
Yup! Them too - sorry about that! Needless to say, we have many high quality programs over here.
Chippewa Valley also has 3 kids going to D-1 schools this year. Usually it's one every 10 years or so. They had a very talented team last year.
West Bloomfield is becoming that level. Lance Dixon last year, Makari Paige and Cornell Wheeler this year, Donovan Edwards next year. They’re a multiple P5 athlete per year school now.
Definitely.
Also, I saw their playoff game against Belleville last year, and Belleville had even more talented players, so I would say they're the top program (no shocker, considering they now regularly place multiple kids at D1-A programs every year).
