Top 2019 WR target Cornelius Johnson visiting this weekend
As reported by Steve Lorenz, Cornelius Johnson is taking his official visit to Michigan this weekend.
For those who don't know he's one of the top outside WR targets on the board along with Kyle Ford and Jaylen Ellis (may be better inside). He is 6'3 195 lbs, #38 receiver, #259 nationally. Currently favoring Stanford or Notre Dame, but hopefully Michigan makes a huge move this weekend.

Stanford? Oh no, not again...

No, Stansbury.

Here is to hoping.....

Does this mean Pep is staying now?!?
Hopefully they don't show him 64% of the called plays from this year. He'll fall asleep so quick.

There are some rumors floating around on 247 that he's no longer a take for ND. Not sure at this point how truthful those rumors are, but the ND mods are saying it so I'd give it some credence.

Odd considering they have 1, maybe 2 receivers at this point. Either way, he's leaning more towards Stanford so they are the biggest challenge to overcome. Maybe distance becomes a factor since he's from CT.

Yeah I have no idea why'd they would turn him away. I tried to venture over to the Irish247 board to find the source of the rumor but after reading ridiculous recruiting takes re: Michigan's class I bailed quickly.
You are correct, however, that Stanford is the bigger threat. Lorenz has said as much himself and the Crystal Ball indicates as much also. Given Michigan's need for outside receivers, here's hoping it's a successful visit that turns the tide.

If McDaniels has any majority roll in recruiting him (honestly I have no idea how much they have interem positional coaches recruit) and halls him in, let him walk on down as the WR coach.

I find it funny that you easily understood everything he was trying to get across but still you felt the need to be a total asshole about it.

Normally I’m not one for grammar nazis, but in this case, justibro was askin for it.

We are nothing without rules.

You seem to be the one overreacting.
The spelling errors were the least of the problems with that post. I'm not quite sure, but he seemed to be saying that if McDaniels helped bring in that one recruit, that's enough to earn a full time job as WR coach.
I disagree, but I'm not 100% sure what he was trying to say.
December 3rd, 2018 at 10:52 PM ^
So argue with the logic then (which I haven't defended) instead of the spelling.

He is a Michigan legacy...I believe mom is a physician...is surely an academic fit...all the arrows for this class continue to point up!!!
All the hand-wringers need to go sit in a corner.

Great post, title, and appreciate the link. Well Done!

Kid is a beast.

Would be an amazing addition to the class and add an outside receiver to go with the slot haul. Go Blue!

Sure, Cornelius "Corny" Johnson. One of the best athletes at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin; heck of a high jumper -- won the gold medal. Then, was an excellent postal letter carrier before he joined the merchant marine. Sadly, he died of a respiratory disease on his ship.
At least that's what Wikipedia tells me. Perhaps Harbaugh & co have access to better info.

Does he like blocking?
December 3rd, 2018 at 4:26 PM ^
I would imagine he likes blocking, but hopefully, for our own sake on this blog, he can't stand things like bad kerning. For example:

What the flick are you talking about?
December 3rd, 2018 at 4:19 PM ^
So you're telling me I should bring a sign about Michigan's superior academic-social balance to the basketball game on Saturday? Will do.

Big bodied WR?
DO want.
December 3rd, 2018 at 6:37 PM ^
Less than 2 weeks on the board, but I've seen you post a lot. WD?
Cool Pic Tho

Hope he is a good blocker......
December 3rd, 2018 at 5:18 PM ^
I mean is he a good outside blocker and I hope he takes advantage of on the 3 targets he gets per game

His mom is an alumna of Michigan but his father is an alumnus of Stanford (Master's Degree) .

This may have some bearing on where he is supposedly leaning.

Do you guys really think this is helping to rip on our passing game? We pass as much as a lot of top teams.
December 3rd, 2018 at 7:02 PM ^
Did you watch the SEC championship game? Did Haskins kick our ass by running the ball?
December 3rd, 2018 at 5:47 PM ^
He'll be shown how effective the WRs have been used this year
December 3rd, 2018 at 6:57 PM ^
Really need a tall receiver in this class as we have a lot of speed but not much height
December 3rd, 2018 at 7:22 PM ^
This made me think of another CJ recruit from year's past, Conelius Jones. (Or is it Cornelius?) I wonder if it's the same "Cornelius K Jones" from Spartanburg, SC mentioned in this article. Age is about right. If so, too bad UM couldn't have admitted him back in the day. Maybe it would have helped him into a better situation in life.

Why are we so late to table again
December 3rd, 2018 at 8:20 PM ^
We're not actually. He's been offered for a long time, was discovered at a satellite camp, and has visited Michigan's campus before. Johnson was just waiting until after his season to take his official visits.

I can always see the appeal of Stanford. Who can't?
But ND? Everyone knows they need to be undefeated to ever have a sniff of the Prize. And, I think what amounts to the final ACC Championship game against Clemson will make it clear where their realistic ceiling is located.
Pro style system. Stable of high potential QBs. Academics. Playing time opportunity.
I'm hopeful.
It sounds like he's a PJ king of recruit. Best of luck to him however he decides.
