Michigan UDFA signings
Somewhere around here there must be a UDFA signing thread. The "Notable Players..." thread has some scattered comments, but I thought I'd put it all in one place in case the reason I'm not finding it is that it doesn't exist. Without further ado...
Drake Nugent -> 49ers
Josh Wallace -> Rams
Braiden McGregor -> Jets
Karsen Barnhart -> Chargers
Trente Jones -> Packers
James Turner -> Lions
That covers everybody listed as a prospect on nfl.com plus a kicker. Glad to see everybody found a place to try out, if not yet a guaranteed professional home.
all have a very good chance to make the 53, or at the very least the practice squad. Good luck to all.
Considering the odds of making it to the NFL, giving 13 draft picks and 6 strong UDFA's a shot at making rosters is one heck of an achievement to go along with a National title.
Amazing Team.
Someone needs to pick up Cam Goode so the total can be twenty. :)
I am surprised no one drafted Trent. He really showed up after Zack’s injury, and looks like a very solid developmental OT.
Same. Wish the lions had picked him up
wish he were starting in A2 this fall :/
Him and Braiden both bailed too early...
I'm not sure Braiden had much more to show in a year that would improve on his status. Moore likely to shine this year and Stewart as well at least on par. At some point, after 4-5 years it's best to move on.
"At some point, after 4-5 years it's best to move on"
Why when there's NIL? Plus covid has shown that players that pop in year 6 do move up draft boards, see Kenny Picket.
Not getting drafted means football is over for 90%.
Glad for all the UM players, but damn I’d have LOVED to have had Trente Jones back. He had a huge chance to lead this team on and off the field and put more on film cause this team could use him and he may have built up his draft stock for next year. He’s been around though so good for him, best of luck
McGregor I understand. He's already had one traumatic injury in his life, get there before risking another, but Trente I thought for sure he would come back to put an entire season on tape.
Go Blue! They all have a decent chance to stick.
Was thinking Turner would be a good fit for the Lions. Really wanted them to get Moody last year and solve the K issue for the next 10 years.
Love this - J. Turner was absolute fucking money for us this year - after stepping in a legend's footsteps.
He has a chance to make the Lions. Good luck Mr Turner.
Great to see that James Turner is going to get an opportunity to solve the place kicking woes of the Lions . Turner was a great portal signing last year to replace Moody and proved himself to be just as reliable for us as Jake.
With Campbell going for it on fourth down so much, whoever is the kicker won't get very many attempts.
Our kicker didn't inspire enough confidence last year so often he had to go for it.
Every year it's the same.
I see UDFA but read it as "ufda!"
The abbreviation is stupid, anyway. Should be UFA but I am a follower when it comes to this.
Ufda!
Anyone know if Cam Goode was going to try to latch on somewhere or if he's just so e with football? That's the only name unaccounted for.
Oh no. Apologies to Cam for ignoring him in the OP. No slight intended! I stupidly relied on nfl.com and a quick scan of the Michigan Football page on facebook for information. My bad.
I wouldn't worry too much about the path to the pros from Michigan now with multiple head and assistant coach connections. Cam Goode is a little undersized for his position which is why he wasn't drafted but with an opportunity, he might just turn a few heads and find his way on a roster somewhere, if not the NFL, then possibly one of the spring league teams.

I was hoping all the OLinemen would sign with the Giants. Too bad for my team as they are missing out. Best of luck to all these guys!
Giants did sign Runyan, so there's that

Runyan? I thought he was a sports writer.

Harbaugh must have a soft spot for Barnhart. Trente Jones looked superior to my untrained eye.
