Wiltfong has changed his crystal ball from UM to OSU with a confidence of 6.

Why the hell would any top receiver look at OSU right now with their depth over the next couple of years.  Jesus H Christ,  a top 10 to15 receiver just transferred out - was 6th on their depth chart - and will probably start for Bama.  Just insane.  Somebody needs to talk to this kid

The kiss of death remains Tom Loy thinking UM was the pick.

But yeah, obviously not good to see a good WR trending to OSU but his two lead recruiters are Moore and Gattis so the changes on the staff likely didn't affect that end of it and, frankly, it's still pretty early in the cycle and things can change.  UM is going to be fighting uphill with a lot of guys and I hope they'll overcome those barriers, but all of these balls were from nearly a year ago and it probably shouldn't be a surprise that there would be movement.

Well you're probably not wrong, but in all fairness the football team hands those reasons out like its candy on Halloween. We just lost one of the best WR recruits in America because our admissions department couldn't get its shit together. Our Co-DC left the program without ever even coaching a single game. And that's just in the last two to three weeks. I don't think we need to re-hash everything else that has plagued Harbaugh's Michigan program.

I don't disagree that the attitude towards the team is very negative. I certainly contribute to that. But the team is making it very, very easy to be disappointed and have low expectations. What results have you seen that make you feel anything is going to change beyond the results we've already gotten? We're six years into the Harbaugh experiment, going on seven. No wins against OSU, no Big Ten titles, no trips to Indy, no playoffs, one bowl win. I feel like what we've seen is what we're going to get.

I hear ya!  I have finally come to "acceptance".  I'm not mad at Michigan...nor am I crapping on them...just objectively why would you come here to be a WR?  Unless it was your dream as a kid, it is hard to find a solid reason to choose Michigan.  I think Jeremy Gallon was the last 1,000 yd receiver we had.

That being said...I hope he "goes Blue" and Michigan develops a legitimate QB that is ALL B10 caliber and he ends up with 2,000 yds and 32 TD's in his first year here.

So accurate. Our deepest position on the team is probably RB so when we are not way behind we will depend on a heavy run game. This will also keep our 'low-expectations' defense off the field.

Do any elite WR prospects love blocking and 2-3 targets a game? Because that is currently what we can realistically offer.

There's really nothing (on the field) Michigan can sell recruits on that OSU can't sell better. Not right now, anyway. Wouldn't blame him for one second if he chose OSU over Michigan.

OSU gets its playmakers the ball. Michigan....well.....it doesn't.

I can't speak for any recruit's priorities, but if I'm in his position I'm happy to go to OSU, wait a year or so, play in some mop up duty my freshman year and be groomed to be a guy who by Year 2 is getting the ball on a regular basis, and is putting together a highleet reel for the NFL every Saturday vs. being told you could play right away at Michigan, but knowing you're probably only going to get targeted 5-7 times a game even as an upperclassmen. Even if you're the #1 guy.

Maybe that changes this year. But past performance is usually indicative of future results. Nico was a mismatch for almost any corner he lined up against. Throw him a deep ball and usually one of two things happens. Either a) he catches it, or b) DPI, fifteen yards, first down, drive keeps going. And yet somehow he only gets 37 receptions over 13 games in his junior year, for 720 yards. That's just under three catches a game. He was criminally underutilized, and I'm not sure why that's going to all of a sudden change for our receivers going forward.

If you go to the Michigan statistics archive and look up the record for most receptions in a season, the highest a Harbaugh-recruited receiver shows up is Ronnie Bell at #35 with 48 receptions in 2019. DJP had 47 in 2018.

The highest for any receiver during Harbaugh's tenure is Darboh with 58 and 57 in '15 and '16.

For comparison, the top five season reception records are 97, 89, 86, 85, and 82, by Edwards, Gallon, Walker, Edwards, and Avant.

I am a diehard Michigan fan and even I can't see why a top 100 WR recruit would choose Michigan over OSU.  WRs put up huge numbers in that offense, they get great coaching, they have a track record of putting guys in the nfl that have success, they have two more that are projected to be drafted in the first round next year and on top of that they will actually be playing in big games at the end of the year (conference championship and playoffs).  You will put up bigger numbers in one season at OSU than your entire career at Michigan, baring Harbaugh is still here for another 3-4 years.  The only hope Michigan has to win a recruit like that over is with everything else besides football, and for a top 100 recruit that has a legit nfl future and a multi-million dollar career on the line, that isn't happening anymore with Harbaugh here.

DPJ was the national HS sparq champ as a junior and consensus 5 star recruit that got drafted in the 6th round.  You think that happens if he went to OSU?  On top of that, Nico sat out this year and got drafted in the 3rd round.  So, maybe that proves you are better off not playing at all than playing for Habaugh/Michigan.

It just goes to show that even when OSU shoots itself in the foot, the bullet manages to richochet off their boot’s toe plate and nail us in the junk.

Zach Smith was a fairly good recruiter but pretty mediocre at developing their WRs relative to their talent level and also a complete tire fire of a person.  Naturally when he gets fired, rather then sinking their program, OSU instead gets an actually competent WR coach who then proceeds to make their 5-stars into all-stars.
