It would be great if Michigan was the best place for development and the best place to get paid as opposed to trying to convince players to stay here for less money.

Michigan did a good job of keeping Mason Graham, Grant, and Will Johnson but they clearly aren't on the same level as Georgia, Alabama, Oregon, Ohio State when it comes to NIL. I feel like a "game manager" qb like Tuttle can get us back into the playoffs while Orji seems like the kind of qb that could toss 3 back breaking interception in a crucial game. Nobody is saying that Orji can't play significant minutes just that he isn't the starter.
Didn't Orji throw a pass that was nearly intercepted in the endzone? It's great that he can run but Ohio State is going to put everyone in the box and stuff that immediately and then if we are in 3rd and 8, we are screwed.
Also apparently the Board of Regents and Santa had to pressure Warde into getting rid of Juwan even in the days leading up to the end of the season. At least we got a guy in Dusty that is willing to make changes immediately.
Sure Orji can run but when a team stacks the box, how is the offense going to function? He made a few throws but he almost threw an interception in the endzone and had a number of errant throws. Milroe and Tebow were much better passers even if their best skillset was to run. You can still use Orji in games but to make him a bonified starter and not have 2012 Denard vs ND happen a few times seems like a stretch.

The point is that the money isn't the problem. It didn't destroy the Lions that Aidan Hutchinson got millions of dollars when he was drafted. If you find the wrong guy like Frankie Collins then yeah maybe using money to recruit him is bad for the team.
Why put parameters on who should get NIL at all? If May thinks he is a good fit then send the NIL his way. This is why the transformational not transactional is so silly. If you don't think he's a good fit, then don't try to get him back in the fold. Just don't make this about players needing to "earn" their money. He can receive NIL up front and still be a high character guy.
I remember in late November when all of the insiders said that this isn't old Michigan anymore getting pushed around. Looks like we are still old Michigan.
It's amazing that Warde hated his national championship winning coach so much. An athletic director is more replaceable than a football coach who goes 40-3 in three years. Even John Beilein didn't want to work for him.
What did those three suspended games get us? Absolutely nothing. It made the burger thing look worse than it was. It pissed off Harbaugh. Thank God we made the NCAA happy.

Michigan has done jack shit in terms of making the NCAA prove anything in regards to the level 1 violation. They voluntarily suspended their coach for 3 games and then let the Big Ten suspend their coach another 3 and didn't do a damn thing. Warde got a cushy CFP job out of it. Maybe that's what the goal was. It wasn't about protecting Michigan.
He would have left for the NFL regardless but looks like Warde did nothing to support him when he was here. I disagree with settling. Fight it like Tennessee and then there probably isn't recruiting restrictions and probation.

I saw that MSU lost nearly 20 players to the portal. I didn't even realize that it was that bad.
I hope we start to hear more about portal activity. There are a lot of needs for this team. At least we got a kicker so far I guess.

Awaiting a statement from Warde Manuel about how great a partner Charlie Baker has been and how we are cooperating fully with the NCAA.
So Tennessee sues the NCAA and the NCAA gets rid of its rules on NIL. Michigan cooperates and gets punished. Warde looks real bright here.

Tuttle looked pretty good last year at Michigan. Sometimes you are in a bad situation with bad coaching.Jake Rudock and AJ Barner are two examples.
Georgia and Alabama will be better defensively.
