A relevant cool story bro:

Having attended Christian schools for most of my early years, I now find great hilarity in the portrayal of Washington and other such figures in my history classes. We learned almost nothing about his blunders, but a lot about how he and his men endured at Valley Forge because he was a praying man who trusted God to see him through his mission. We also never learned about the Ottoman empire having any sort of role in World War I. What a time.

Yeah, I alluded to it in the other basketball post that GW3 or Phat Phat would see them getting recruited over. May is continuing to recruit wing players to play the 3 or the 4. They don't have much depth there.

I have the same reaction as last time: OK.

I mean, it's hard to get too upset about this, just like it was hard to get excited when he came back. He couldn't get on the court for the worst UM team in years, except when Dug wasn't eligible to play. Yes, he was a freshman, and hopefully will get better. But with the influx of portal guards, he obviously thinks that his road to more playing time is blocked, and wants to try elsewhere - again.

So - again - good luck to you.

He didn't have any idea what incoming transfers were going to commit or not commit when he first came out of the portal.  He's making decisions based on a RAPIDLY changing roster situation, and while I won't say it's a good look to bounce in and out of the portal like that, I think it's much more a product of the environment than any statement on GWIII's ability to "figure things out."

Honest question:  Why should he care how many players May recruits?  If he just wants a new scene, then this indecision is weird.  But if it's about playing time. . . sheesh, he hasn't even begun to compete for a spot.  Does GW3 have any confidence in his game to win the job?  Did May tell him he's riding the bench no matter what (which would go against everything we know about May so far)?  If no and no. . . why does GW3 fancy himself a competitive athlete, if he's afraid of competition?

I'm old enough to remember the story of an M athlete whose position was challenged by a five-star wunderkid (an obstacle far more daunting than GW3's).  After some soul-searching he marched into the HC's office, told him he's gonna prove he's the best one for the job, and worked his ass off.  Things turned out pretty well for Tom Brady.

GW3 has control over how he himself prepares for next season, and it's the only thing he has control over.  He could tell May, "I'm gonna prove you wasted your time on these transfers."  This is what he's doing instead.  I'm like, OK, happy trails man, but if we're allowed to mock OSU for being sawft, at least they showed up.  What do we even call this?  Where's the dawg in you, GW3?

One thing the portal and NIL craziness has done is to put a final stake in the notion that anything more than a tiny, tiny percentage of players prioritize getting an education at any particular school, whether it's Michigan or some other institution. The quality and specific nature of the education they get is far down the list of the things that actually determine their decisions, and I think it's actually been that way for a long time.
