Top five recruiting class every year. Only one national title to show for. Folks down south are getting tired of him. He is losing to Oakland as we speak - if he’s out the first weekend of March Madness (again) I think he will have a very hot seat. Let’s bring him in and restructure Michigan basketball.

We find a way to do both in football, and Duke is unable to manage that feat. I think it's very difficult, if not impossible, to devote the level of resources required to "do both" at multiple major sports. I can't think of any examples of universities that meet that criteria in both football and men's basketball.

Doesn’t impress me as the guy that follows the rules.  More like bend them before they break.  Probably laughed his ass off at the cheeseburger infraction.  If he J-walks on Main Street we’ll get penalized.

Too much baggage for our administration. Plus, I think his best years are behind him. Lastly, he doesn’t seem like the kind of guy who want to coach the second fiddle sport at his university.

The baggage thing is a subjective misnomer. I don’t like the guy and I think he’s gives off shady creep vibes but besides the whole Derrick Rose SAT thing at Memphis in like 2008, the baggage thing is fodder perspective.

He might not be the squeaky clean church mouse that Beilein was but he hasn’t slapped an opposing coach yet and that guy just recently got the boot so I think we can leave that baggage behind, ya get me?

First of all, he’s got a ton left on his contract. Second of all, for having pretty much a top 1-2 class every year he’s under performed. I don’t want a one and done NBA farm system.

If Michigan’s tournament drought was longer than longer than 5 years, this would be a great move to instantaneously rebuild the roster into a tournament team. Michigan isn’t in that desperate of spot yet.

If this was a few years ago, yes.

However, he is getting up there in age (would be 66 going on 67 to start next season - slightly older than Beilein was his last year).

I also think his shine has worn off a bit. The past 2-3 seasons have been pretty average by Altman standards.

He is also at a big-name school in Oregon - with better basketball facilities, a better arena, the total Nike backing from Uncle Phil.

Finally, he is going to be in the conference next year anyway, so its not like he is moving up to a better conference.
