Agreed. I thought they had…

Agreed. I thought they had called a TO actually and was surprised to see the clock running.

I like the look. Big fan of…

I like the look. Big fan of the shoes, anyone know if that style is sold anywhere?

Reminds me a lot of Roddick…

Reminds me a lot of Roddick.  Lots of sets that go to tiebreak.  I hope he pulls it out.

Not at all.  I could upvote…

Not at all.  I could upvote/downvote on the previous site, not on this one apparently.

I must be blind or something…

I must be blind or something, but I can't even see an option to upvote or downvote on the new site.

Would be nice to knock out…

Would be nice to knock out VT and Wisconsin in these next couple turns.

Odds on Michigan?

I see there is a little discrepancy in Women's Gymnastic's rankings, and I admittedly haven't followed too closely this year.

How does Michigan look to advance to the Super Six and beyond?

Ugh, I can't believe I

Ugh, I can't believe I watched all of that for a Georgia commit.

MSU outgained Wiscy on the day...

Not saying what Wiscy did wasn't impressive, but I think 30-6 was an incredibly misleading score.  Fumble-six, bad punt, turning it over on downs...game could have been a hell of a lot closer.

LSU is also looking way worse than their lofty #5 ranking, with almost losing to Miss. St. at home and now losing to Auburn on the road.

This will obviously be our toughest test yet, and I am nervous about any game.  I think we pull this out by 2 scores, though.

ND

Kick out Rutgers, bring in Notre Dame.

Yeah...

He's still supposed to be very young too, despite the actor playing him growing up rapidly.

I mean, Arya could have ended the war entirely and saved her family had she used those three deaths correctly, but she didn't.  Robb could have avoided the death of his family had he held to his oath with the Freys.

Pretty much all of the characters make mistakes/choices that have unforseen consequences in the series.  I'd say the best characters at not doing that are Littlefinger and Varys, due to their meticulous, plotting ways, but even they can be surprised by how events unfold.

Loans against future payments...

I believe Maryland is receiving a substantial amount of money (over 10M) from the BTN, basically as a loan against future payments.  So while they are getting more now, Nebraska will shortly jump to a full share while Maryland will be receiving less to make up for the upfront larger payments.

I worry...

That an IU win alone won't put Michigan in the tournament, if they truly are the 6th team out.  There is still room for bid-stealers to push Michigan further back from the pack, as well.

Schedule That MSU and OSU are on the same home/road schedule now.
I agree...

I don't necessarily assume anyone is cheating unless proven.  Looks like sour grapes otherwise.

Ole Miss does have a number of things going for it, and we can't possibly speak for how recruits rate/value different factors when selecting a program to play for.  Sometimes it's as simple as the connection they develop with a coaching staff, and how can we possibly comment on that as if we know?

I'm happy with Harbaugh and our recruiting.  I don't really care what Ole Miss is doing one way or the other; I certainly wouldn't trade places with them.

True, but...

They did bump Iowa to 5, even after Iowa's poor showing at IU.  Not sure what the basis was for that, though.

Vandy @ UF

Would have been real nice to see Vandy hold on yesterday.

Hmmm...

FINAL SCORE -- Michigan (2016): 35 - Michigan State (2016): 0

I'll take it.

I don't recall

Ever seeing the #1 votes split so many ways:

OSU has 27

Baylor has 13

TCU has 3

Utah has 16

Clemson has 1

A&M has 1

Anyone ever seen such a lack of consensus on the #1 vote?

Interesting to see..

MSU finally slip in the polls, dipping down to #7 here.

You could be right...

Though we came pretty close to ND, and the Coaches Poll has lagged a bit behind on us vs. the AP poll this year.

Michigan will just...

Have to take on the burden of alleviating MSU of its ranking.

I am guessing

We will be 12, in front of Ole Miss and ND.  Don't see us jumping UF/A&M/Bama, not yet anyway.

Are...

You referring to the High/Low?  That's for the season.  Utah was NR at the beginning, so that's their low for the season's voting.

Surprised...

To see we didn't jump Notre Dame.  I sorta get being behind Ole Miss, but I was thinking we might top the 1 loss teams this week.

Not the OP, but...

Just from looking at the list of criteria, a few things jump out:

- How is Global/Regional research reputation computed?  Is that basically just one of those peer institutional rankings?  Is regional just within the United States?

- Are the number of conferences a University holds really relevant to its quality as an institution of higher learning?

- I see a huge % basically tied into # of citations, but I imagine a lot of that has to do with the material concerned in said citations.  I imagine certain fields of study, such as medical research, are cited far more often than others, meaning just counting the number of times a University is cited is incredibly simplistic.  What if Michigan has several excellent fields of study where the frequency of citations would be expected to be low?

- The one I think I see the biggest problem with is # of PhDs awarded.  Is Michigan supposed to behave like the UCF of PhDs here, and just give away as many as possible?  PhDs are supposed to be difficult to obtain, and rewarding institutions for giving out more is certainly not proving that one is better than the other.  I am sure many lower-tier schools have higher graduation rates than Michigan, but that is not telling at all (I believe US News includes grad rates in its undergrad rankings as well, another faulty measure).

Though...

If I remember correctly, when I first starting attending UM in 2007, they were around 25 with UC Berkeley and UVA in US News' undergrad rankings.

Emphasis

I think it's just what each ranking emphasizes.  Research is considered here, but US News' rankings don't include research, so there is a pretty substantial difference between the two sets.

It's hard to quantify the quality of education at a school, especially undergraduate education.

Actually

18%, but yeah it's pretty substantial.

I think most academic rankings include some kind of review by peer institutions.

Follow-up

Big Ten Rankings

21. Michigan

25. Northwestern

36. Illinois

50. Wisconsin

65. Minnesota

75. PSU

90. OSU

99. MSU

113. Purdue

117. Maryland

123. Rutgers

201-250. Iowa, Indiana

301-350. Nebraska

Remember

The coaches didn't even have BYU ranked last week.  I would expect to see Michigan move into the AP's rankings.

I'd be in favor of...

2 big OOC games each year.  One at home, one on the road.  That would make room for ND.

I guess

I don't "know", but given what has happened since Calipari went to UK (as well as his time at Memphis and UMass), the NCAA would have to be completely inept or just totally ambivalent to anyone claiming NCAA corruption.

Bob Knight openly campaigned against UK during his time at ESPN.  Pat Forde constantly went after UK (even going so far as to look into Eric Bledsoe's high school transcripts), and there were the AD claims by journalists in Chicago.  These are just a few of the things people tried to make stick to UK since Calipari took over.

If I recall correctly the NCAA did look into the Bledsoe claims, and ultimately ruled Enes Kanter ineligible as well, in a pretty gray-area decision.

I am certain the NCAA would love to nail UK if they could, but the reality is many of the benefits offered by UK (such as the private athlete housing) are within the rules.  They are either good enough at cheating that the almost annual claims of cheating are incorrect, or they are good at playing in the gray area of the NCAA's odd rules.

But this is all beyond the primary point I was making.  People constantly make posts like this when a non-major school in being investigated (why isn't the NCAA doing its job and investigating USC, Bama, UK, etc.?)  Why can't other schools be cheating as well?  Why can't the NCAA look at multiple schools?  I hate posts like this.

This is idiotic.

The NCAA has had their eyes squarely on UK.  You expect them to ignore everyone else at the same time?

Anyone else...

See that shot of the stadium?

Damn it's empty.

Auburn lucked out beyond belief!

Jacksonville State had 2 missed FG, Auburn's TD in the 3rd had a bad hold.

That decision to kneel in regulation?  What the QB just did there?  Jesus; I can't believe Auburn was handed the victory back like that.

HOW??? HOW???

As the QB, how the HELL can you take a sack like that, with as much time as you had?

Auburn scores first in OT

Runs it in from the 3 yard line.

27-20

Brutal

Can't believe they gave up that first down, shoulda had him well short.

Because I encouraged people

Because I encouraged people to watch this?  Haha. Sure.

WOW

I hate that decision!

Jacksonville is kneeling to play for OT.

You have a chance to end it here, wtf?

Auburn kicks it out of bounds...

Jacksonville will start at the 35.

Ugh.

Auburn scores.

:39 seconds left.  Jacksonville State will have 1 TO.

That punt really screwed them.

Their offense has been pretty

Their offense has been pretty poor.

If not for a blatantly missed hold, Auburn wouldn't have a TD.

Auburn forces the 3 and out,

Auburn forces the 3 and out, offense will come back on the field.

Oof.  Punter shanks it, looks like it's out around the 31.

Not sure if it is just me

But the formatting of that page is totally screwed up for me.  The text runs along the left side in two 1-letter columns...

Unrelated question... Why do people always say team X should have beat team Y? You either won or you didn't. Had UK barely lost, should they have "won" the game?
Still not getting the Maryland love... They had a good year last year, but look at their schedule and Wiscy at home was far and away their best win. Nothing else comes remotely close. Should they be improved this year? Yes, but enough to suddenly be #1? I just do not see it. I expect the Terps to fall quickly from their lofty preseason ranking.
Great for him!

Will be very interested in the trajectory of his coaching career.

A definite bright spot for Michigan in recent years, hoping he makes his way back home someday.
