Ole Miss...is there an example of another school doing what they have done with recruiting?

Submitted by Lakeyale13 on
Observing Ole Miss, a fairly consistent middle / to bottom dweller in their conference, with no significant tradition of winning or significant history of tradition as a football program, has sudenly emerged to be a recruiting machine. A force to be reckoned. Prior classes have been fantastic, and the one they are putting together this year (if they close as they should / could) will perhaps rival the "Tunsil / Treadwell" class. Can you look back over the last 20-30 years and find another comparison? I can only think of a school like SMU with Dickerson. Not implying that Ole Miss is that corrupt (time will clear or convict this current Ole Miss regime). I am simply in awe of what they are doing, considering their on field results have been good but not great.

To clarify my question, can you think of another school with their similar background that has done what they have done with recruiting? Obviously, Alabama or LSU is not a comparator because they have history and a tradition of winning.

Not so sure.  They were the one team that was consistently overranked compared to their resume by the playoff committee throughout the season.  They seem to have favor with the higher-ups for whatever reason.  Maybe a clause in the TV contract was "we'll pay you enormous $$$, but you have to let that Ole Miss stuff slide or otherwise somehow meet our threshold number of big games each season."

is there a plastic surgery clause in pageants?  I have no idea but California women are beatuiful but most of it is bought and paid for instead of genetically earned. Even the Asian women in cali have big booties and thats just about genetically impossible.

You may not want to settle down with an idiot, but a "bimbo" sure is a lot of fun when you're out sowing your wild oats. Most of those chick's come from Southern money. If you've ever been to one of the southern schools you'd also know that those girls have gorgeous pearly whites. And it is accentuated very well by those tanned bodies. A girls that's a "6" at a school like Clemson would easily be an 8-9 at Michigan.

Then there is the weather.  While we freeze our asses off in Ann Arbor, a cold day down there typically requires a sweatshirt.  Average low in January 31, average high 51.

Or maybe you want to attend Florida State?  January average low 39, average high 61, and no one is heavily invested in North Face down.

Compare that to Ann Arbor, where in January, average low is 18 and average high 31.

There are hot chicks everywhere if you are a star football palyer.  Always have been.

It's all about the big money, which started when it became clear that the NCAA was not going to do anything about it.

So give up the charade and level the field.  Let schools pay the players so it's not just the bagmen doing it.

I thought of Stanford too, but Stanford has produced on the football field. They are a legitimate Playoff contender. Ole Miss, thus far, beats Alabama but isn't in the NC conversation.
