AP Poll: Michigan #12

Loving it, Bama the only 1 loss team ranked higher than us (10).
October 11th, 2015 at 2:07 PM ^
Seems about right. A little surprised we are ahead of Ole Miss.
Wish State was ranked higher now haha.
October 11th, 2015 at 2:09 PM ^
Ole Miss got really lucky in that Bama game
October 11th, 2015 at 2:11 PM ^
Obviously, but they did still beat Bama. That's a win that's better than any we've had.
October 11th, 2015 at 2:19 PM ^
Their loss was also WAYYYYYYYYYY worse than ours though.
October 11th, 2015 at 6:55 PM ^
But losing @ Florida isn't looking like such a bad thing now.

Ole Miss also looked terrible at home against Vanderbilt, and got routed by Florida. Taken in context with their season-to-date, the Alabama game looks more like an outlier with each passing week. Have not been impressed with their QB play with Chad Kelly at all. Of all the teams in the top 15, only LSU may be getting worse production out of their QB.
And the final score was not 43-24. It was a one score game, and Alabama had the ball with a chance to win in the last 2 minutes.

For years, we were always the highest ranked 1-loss team, or highest ranked 2-loss team, etc.
We were usually also ranked above a bunch of undefeated teams if we had 1 loss, or ranked above a bunch of 1-loss teams if we had 2 losses, etc.
It's good to be back!

I'm looking forward to OSU eventually losing their #1 spot.
A week after we beat Maryland 28-0, they beat Maryland by 21 in Columbus...
October 11th, 2015 at 2:15 PM ^
That won't happen until they lose.
October 11th, 2015 at 2:28 PM ^
Why not? FSU dropped last year even though they were undefeated National Champions.
October 11th, 2015 at 2:36 PM ^
October 11th, 2015 at 2:46 PM ^
I really think it was more that they were barely holding on to beat very mediocre teams while other teams were dominating.
October 11th, 2015 at 2:16 PM ^
Also looks like Randy Edsall was told after the Michigan game that he better beat OSU or he's out of a job. It would explain why Edsall chose to leave all his starters in the game for the last 2-3 series when OSU had essentially emptied their bench.

Northwestern drops seven spots, M moves up six.
October 11th, 2015 at 4:52 PM ^
Will only have 1 loss by the ACC championship game and then get demolished by FSU or Clemson.

Called it last night...
Win over MSU and we'll be a minimum of #9. You're going to jump MSU, UF/LSU play, Bama and TAMU play. That's a minimum of #9 and more likely #7 or #8.
If I would've told you that after week 7 we would be #7 in the country in August. You would've killed me in the balls and dragged me to the hostipal for being an idiot.
October 11th, 2015 at 2:09 PM ^
"killed me in the balls and dragged me to the hostipal". Truer words have never been spoken.

I hate to see Michigan State drop because of injuries, but that's the nature of football. I think they've lost about 14 players since the offseason, and about ~8-10 of them were starters or projected starters too (3 starters on the OL + a back-up).

October 11th, 2015 at 2:30 PM ^
Don't bring up MSU's injuries. That's all we'll hear from MSU fans
October 11th, 2015 at 2:33 PM ^
October 11th, 2015 at 2:57 PM ^
They were (are?) losing players at a rate of 1-2 per game. I wouldn't fault fans or coaches for discussing injuries. It's one thing to lose a couple players, quite another to lose that each week. Not as an "excuse" per se, but as a potential explanation for why they have been so underwhelming.
I think we'd do the same under similar circumstances. But, at the end of the day, all teams have to deal with them.

Also one the the luckiest teams in the world, it is about time their luck changed and it is changing this year.
October 11th, 2015 at 3:35 PM ^
I don't care what their excuses will be after we beat them. Let them bitch and cry. All we will have to do is point to the scoreboard and there is literally nothing those fuckers can say.
October 11th, 2015 at 4:39 PM ^
It's not like we didn't have excuses (some of them self-inflicted) the last 8 years.
October 11th, 2015 at 5:02 PM ^
So, you are saying they will drop only because of injuries. Not because we can beat them straight up? We had no QB, lost two key players on Defense, bunch of transfers, a couple left, new coaches, new system, lack of development in 7 years. See what I did there. I can come up 100 excuses. While I feel bad for kids with injuries, that is the nature of Football.
October 11th, 2015 at 8:57 PM ^
I'm referring to the last two weeks, they've been jumped by teams in both weeks. I think voters would have probably kept a fully healthy MSU at #2, but every voter knows that eventually they're going to drop one missing that many players... just a matter of time.
October 11th, 2015 at 2:36 PM ^
For that last sentence.
Let no one say MGoBlogizens aren't caring. We'd make sure you got to the hospital.

#7 by mid-October no less.
You would have then said "Wow, Jake Ryan must be playing out of his mind". When told "No, not really, he's actually worse than he was at Iowa", your head would completely explode.
October 11th, 2015 at 7:56 PM ^
Can you imagine this defense with peak Jake Ryan? Not like it can get much better but damn.

October 11th, 2015 at 2:25 PM ^
What were we ranked when we played #22 BYU? Were we #27? That would make this theory solid gold.
October 11th, 2015 at 2:08 PM ^
MSU finally slip in the polls, dipping down to #7 here.
