I'll agree that student…

I'll agree that student athletes probably don't care all that much when they have a high probability at NFL, but the rest of your argument is off. Schools matter. The level of competition, the pace of instruction, the grading curve. All that will be different and it will impact one's ability to get into better med programs, which will play a huge role in residency and career path. Sure, there are a lot of paths to becoming a general surgeon, but a top 25 school probably grants you access to more of them than the 115th best college in the nation. A 3.5 GPA at Mich means something different than a 3.5 at SC, and med schools know this. I'll acknowledge my snobbery, but don't go all joe everyman and act like some class hero.

Agree, this is just a stark…

Agree, this is just a stark one, so it's funny. Like, saying that academics are important then going to another big ten is one thing. Okay, those are still places to get a quality education. We are talking about schools that are bottom tier here. No one going to Bama puts academics on the list, sonat least the are honest. Hopefully he doesn't Clowney us in 3 years.

1) michigan clearly owns the worst CFP loss to date

2) the fact that we lost to this TCU team is just bizarre

3) we probably  would have played a much better game against Georgia than TCU. Still likely would have lost.

4) GA played every bit as cold as M when they came back, which is why they almost lost to OSU.

Grain of salt. I just don't…

Grain of salt. I just don't see a school that isn't rabid about football doing this.

No, I don't recall.

No, I don't recall.

Agree. We are gonna be hard…

Agree. We are gonna be hard up for depth next year if stokes doesn't see the gaps.

And here's the vicious cycle…

And here's the vicious cycle this will create.  Don't get enough touches, leave. Don't know the offense on your new team, don't get enough touches. Teams that try to spread the ball around too much to appease everyone lose. Losing teams will eventually stop drawing recruits once NIL stabilizes.

Reasons he is leaving are…

Reasons for his departure are why he won't come here. Let him go to a school that throws on 3rd and 2 to pad his stats. I have one that comes to mind. We'll just focus on winning with a complete team.

One thing is certain…

One thing is certain. McCarthy is around for another 2 years.

I really hope McNamara comes…

I really hope McNamara comes back. He can win this job.

These announcers are awful.

These announcers are awful.

CJ is just not a great…

CJ is just not a great receiver. Anthony needs to start.

But, sure, whine away when…

But, sure, whine away when we are about to go up 24-3.

And almost beat Purdue and…

And almost beat Purdue and Minnesota, with Purdue being on the road. This team is definitely not a dumpster fire. Chubby wasn't exactly lighting us up outside of running. Surprise he got hurt after they leaned on that way too much.

I'm not entirely happy the…

I'm not entirely happy the passing game either, but remember when we won a squeaker by 3 last year against this team?  This board is borderline pathetic.

What we really need is an…

What we really need is an all-black, Raiders-like uniform with a Domino's Pizza patch on it. Block M would look sweet in matte black.

Just get rid of the…

Just get rid of the Championship game. Highest ranked playoff team from BIG gets the title. Avoid the stupid injuries before playoffs, and the majority of the time this will probably be the winner of the Game.

This sounds great, but think…

This sounds great, but think of how pissed you are gonna be when we lose in 2OT at the Shoe to a one loss OSU team and then don't get a shot at the title. Plus, this would turn out some really weird years where OSU beat USC early in the season, beats M and ends up playing a 6-3 PSU for the title or something. College football teams tend to get so much better throughout the season because of all the roster turnover. It just seems unfair to punish teams for early losses.

I hate this idea. M vs OSU…

I hate this idea. M vs OSU should never be Summer football. I just think something like first week of October. Like first real game on each team's schedule. Then they go off, polish themselves and potentially meet again.

I mean, I just think changed…

I mean, I just think changed. If we're moving to a 12 team playoff, there's a chance the U of M and OSU could end up playing 3 times in one season. I think the best parts of college football are the variety of play styles amongst the teams and the general chaos relative the NFL. The Game and the current format are just no longer compatible, and what's the alternative? We all have our gripes about how the current format isn't working.  I think there could still be a really great October matchup between UM and OSU that has the early form teams compete. You then get years where you have well oiled machines battling it out in a Championship game. I do think they need to make the Championship game a home game for the team with the best record. That could set up a whole new era or great football. I'd love to see Michigan vs USC at the Big House in December for a Championship game. That could develop into a great rivalry.

I guess I don't really see a…

I guess I don't really see a problem with them playing twice. I think maybe we need to consider moving The Game so that it's no longer the last game of the regular season, but i think there could be some epic rematches where one team gets better throughout the year leading up to the championship. I know that's antithetical to The Game, but the real Game then becomes the Championship, and I could see some real classics there.

USC is also going to be pretty damn good again, so I'm more worried about how they get scheduled. Would hate to see Michigan have to play USC and Oregon in a season where Ohio plays Wiscy and Nebraska or something. I really just wish they would start doing NFL type scheduling where some slots would just be filled based on prior year performance.

Think you throw the book out…

Think you throw the book out with Iowa. I just think you take whatever easy points you can get when you are playing that type of team. That game seemed close for a minute, but it was over as soon as we went up two scores.

Definitely agree with…

Definitely agree with breaking up game threads by half.

Because our rbs know how to…

Because our rbs know how to find gaps and average 7 yards a carry against top defenses. That's why.

Remember Nebraska last year?…

Remember Nebraska last year? This could have been that kind of game, and this team proved itself to be a little more well rounded on both sides of the ball to fall into that trap. Excited for this season. It's up from here.

Disagree, there's one way…

Disagree, there's one way Iowa wins that game and they didn't allow it.

Conservative, but fine...

Conservative, but fine...

Saluvating about the triple…

Saluvating about the triple option variants we are gonna throw at PSU and OSU.

Board needs to lighten up a…

Board needs to lighten up a bit. Pretty much same game plan as last year. They're playing to win this game handily not flash a bunch of offense that puts the ball at risk. Could pretty much have anyone in at qb today. We'll win this game 30-3 or something.

Meh, got 3 points against a…

Meh, got 3 points against a team who can't score and ran the clock out. Only play I didn't like was JJ forcing it to wilson and almost getting it picked but for that catch. JJ is still having trouble seeing the whole field.

Love that Donovan showed…

Love that Donovan showed some serious patience and vision. Mike Hart is just the best.

Completely agree. I think…

Completely agree. I think Johnson has all the measurements that project to being an NFL player a la DPJ, but there are only two game breakers on this team right now: Corum and wilson. Everytime they get the ball, I'm on the edge of my seat. Hoping McCarthy gets there. Johnson just goes through huge stretches of irrelevance, like DPJ and, sadly  Collins. Some of that is deep ball stuff, but wilson looks to be a bigger deep ball threat anyway given the team's hesitancy to throw contested balls. It's almost like this offense just needs speedy wrs that have two steps on their guys. We could have deandre Hopkins in his prime on this team and he'd be underutilized, but we love overthrowing balls and having guys that somehow catch up to them.

So, the point is never make…

So, the point is never make Sicilian your offensive coordinator?

For Wilson, I get that...BUT…

For Wilson, I get that...BUT those 8 catches are for an average of 24.5 yards a pop and resulted in three TDs. His only other touch is a 21 yard run for a TD. The guy has touched the ball 9 times and has converted 45% of his touches into touchdowns with an over 20 yard average per touch. If someone does that, it seems like they are...dangerous. If they doing that and are male, I might even consider calling them Dangerman.

What are the chances Iowa…

What are the chances Iowa lets Edwards throw another TD after last year?

Seriously, Johnson has done…

Seriously, Johnson has done almost nothing to retain his star this year and Wilson has done everything to earn one. Is this a meritocracy or a cheerocracy?
