Is that the official helmet sticker design for #1004? I was wondering if Valiant would make a shirt like this one but with the NC sticker design... but I might just make my own instead...

Promotion/Relegation is a…

Promotion/Relegation is a fun thought experiment for CFB, but I think there are some pitfalls/side effects here -

(1) Free transfers mean teams that get relegated would likely have more players transfer away, making it harder to get promoted again.

(2) This structure also makes the fbs equivalent of 'Cinderella' teams rarer.  The media won't be talking about 2022 Kansas going from 0 wins to 5-0 if they're in the second tier.  Think about 2007 as well - Kansas, Mizzou, and South Florida (!!) were all ranked in the top 5 at some point; this structure eliminates some of that surprise.

I know for mens CBB, there…

I know for mens CBB, there are preconfigured times when they will cut to commercial (first stoppage after 16', 12', 8', and 4' left in the half).  Does anyone know how that structure came about -- is that mandated by the NCAA, or standard language in existing media rights contracts?

I would like to imagine something similar happening for football someday, but probably not when the B1G is getting a bajillion dollars a year.

It might be worth mentioning…

It might be worth mentioning that Kile (along with TJ Hensick and Aaron Palushaj) will be participating in the 3-on-3 ice hockey leage (3Ice) this summer.

Anybody remember what used to be on that site? I spent time at Couzens hall ~15 years ago and remember there being a building, but Google Maps shows it as a grassy field.

This design inspired me to push the Seattle club to do something similar with the state of Washington - while perhaps not as iconic as the Space Needle HAIL shirts, I think it also turned out pretty well.

If he were to leave, we should hire someone who:

(1) Has coached at Michigan

(2) Has been a head coach

The only question is ... Brady Hoke or Don Brown?

Right? I looked at that draw and immediately flashed back to the '11 Frozen Four, and specifically the "Live as a Vole" post from 10 years ago.

For better or worse, that is my go-to reference when my team is winning an important game despite not being the better team on the <playing surface>.

Yeah, OP is wrong -- it's a 64 team tournament, and we defeated the regional 4 seed. Regional 1 seed UNC would be next.

Except... it's not.  For some reason, the hockey boards and football end zones are not the latest "Valiant" font, while the basketball jerseys from last year are.  It's most notable at the top of the 'A' in Michigan -- one has block serifs, the other does not.

I saw this a while ago at the Seattle Film Festival.

It was definitely enjoyable; I don't remember much/any crude language or inappropriate subject matter.

Personally, I was hoping it would have a little more detail on the beginnings and signing the guys from the Soviet Union (since we all know what happens in '97-'98).  That said -- definitely a worthwhile way to relive the glory days.

Can you take a look at the navigation ribbon at the top in Microsoft Edge and IE? The stripe is 2-3x taller than it should/needs to be, and

Separately, a design nitpick -- I have a 1920x1200 monitor, and with the browser at full screen … I can't see the title of the most recent post (non-highlighted) in any browser.

Also +1 to having a site background separate from a text background.

That one definitely won't

That one definitely won't work, as it requires a USB input port; the nooks only have USB out. You may have success if you find a bluetooth keyboard; I don't know if they enabled the BT radio on the newer models (the older ones had a radio but it wasn't enabled without rooting the Nook).

Michigan, 68-63

Pretty much what everyone

Pretty much what everyone else has said - looks like the worst Michigan can do is the 6th overall seed.  I also tried to see if Michigan could take the top overall seed; it looks like we can't flip the BC comparison.  We can be the 2nd overall seed though, eg:

  • WCHA Play-in #2: Denver defeats Michigan Tech.
  • WCHA Play-in #1: North Dakota defeats St. Cloud State.
  • WCHA Semifinal #2: Minnesota-Duluth defeats Denver.
  • WCHA Semifinal #1: North Dakota defeats Minnesota.
  • WCHA Championship game: North Dakota defeats Minnesota-Duluth.
  • Hockey East Semifinal #2: Boston University defeats Maine.
  • Hockey East Semifinal #1: Boston College defeats Providence.
  • Hockey East Championship game: Boston University defeats Boston College.
  • ECAC Semifinal #2: Cornell defeats Harvard.
  • ECAC Semifinal #1: Union defeats Colgate.
  • ECAC Championship game: Union defeats Cornell.
  • ECAC Consolation game: Harvard defeats Colgate.
  • CCHA Semifinal #2: Miami defeats Western Michigan.
  • CCHA Semifinal #1: Michigan defeats Bowling Green.
  • CCHA Championship game: Michigan defeats Miami.
  • CCHA Consolation game: Western Michigan defeats Bowling Green.
  • Atlantic Hockey Semifinal #2: Niagara defeats RIT.
  • Atlantic Hockey Semifinal #1: Air Force defeats Mercyhurst.
  • Atlantic Hockey Championship game: Niagara defeats Air Force.
