I assume that they called 2 plays and the play they ran depended on how the defense lined up. The defense lined up in a way where M thought we had an advantage on a dive. He almost got there too. I agree they shoulda just called a pass though.

In his defense, I also didn't know how to post a link (mostly because I've never tried)

The claim is that if an…

The claim is that if an entity can understand the technology, there is a chance that it will lead to weapon development and asymmetrical warfare. If Russia is able to make weapons we can't conceive of by understanding any technology before us, we lose any armed confrontation. That's why DoD or whoever have tried to keep it completely secret. Who knows if it's true, but the logic makes some sense to me.

That individual per the articles is Sanjay Gupta (NTSG) - not to be confused with CNN host, U of M alum, and U of M Class of 2012 Commencement Speaker Sanjay Gupta (YTSG)

Trey is definitely playing well for the Mavs, but I think it's a stretch to call this his best game as a pro.

He dropped 42 points/12 assists in 2018 for the Knicks:

What is the background song that is used at the beginning of the video? It sounds like the instrumtental to Old Thing Back by Matoma, but there's no saxophone. Great vid btw.

It started 7-8 years ago…

It started 7-8 years ago when Dr. Pepper had a commercial with Pitbull that aired on seemingly every college football commercial break. The chorus said "Let's have a real good time," but Brian said that he could only hear "Let's have a field goal try," which is all I could hear afterwards. They are also partying under a bridge for unknown reasons. It's been a mgoblog meme since then.

I can't find the English version but this is it:

There's dozens of us!!

There's dozens of us!!

This is literally the…

This is literally the defense that Yaklich installed that propelled us to the #2 defensive team in the nation this year. We were absolutely terrible at guarding the pick and roll before, and it was because the roll man never received appropriate help and we gave up a bunch of easy lay ups. Yaklich's D has the weakside defender rotate down and guard the roll man, and it gives the offense a 2 second window to make a cross-court pass across 2-3 defenders to get a quick 3 up against a defender closing out. Unfortunately, Izzo a good coach, understood the weakness, has a big ten player of the year running the PnR, and McQuaid was dripping wet. I was at the game and haven't rewatched, but I believe the majority of his 3s were when he was on the weak side immediately after Winston accepted a screen to the strong side. We definitely needed to make a better adjustment, but MSU didn't start attacking this regularly until the second half, so Beilein didn't have a great opportunity to make a halftime adjustment. And when we did fully adjust, it opened the lane for Winston to get the lay ups to seal the game. To say our defensive strategy is insane, in my opinion, is a bit myopic and doesn't show great understanding of the stategic game that's actually being played. (Not trying to be offensive here... just trying to give my take). That being said I'm very much looking forward to Zion teabagging McQuaid 2 weeks from now.

MAAR caught the ball after it

MAAR caught the ball after it went through, stepped out of bounds, and handed it off to Z out of bounds. The ref started counting when MAAR had the ball and went out, which is the correct call. You are allowed to pass to another player behind the baseline after a made basket, and the inbounds clock keeps running. I was always coached to pass the ball to the ref before looking up, which gaurantees the inbounds clock resetting. I have a feeling Beilein won't let that happen again.

It's a date set by the NCAA

It's a date set by the NCAA as the first day you can officially give offers. Most colleges don't care and give offers before then, but Beilein always waits until the date before he officially offers a prospect.

I think it just depends. I

I think it just depends. I took Calc BC and got a 5 on the AP test, but when I started at Michigan in Fall 2008 I went into Math 256. If I remember correctly I could've gone into Calc 3 but because it was honors applied and because I wanted to start off with a solid GPA I chose Calc 2. I don't think there's a standard procedure for which class you have to go into and both calc 2 and 3 are options.

He said had the tools not has. Obviously he can He said had the tools not has. Obviously he can and did play 4, it's just not a good fit of he's playing there 20-30 mins a game.

Your day by day countdown of

Your day by day countdown of important players before the season starts is probably my favorite Michigan football blogging series out there. Well I guess aside from UFRs.

Good to see the recruits seem

Good to see the recruits seem to be reacting to it positively, any chance you could ask some more of the committed players though? It seems like they are the ones who really have had the opportunity to develop a relationship with Borges, I'm curious what their thoughts are.

#20

#20 is Torii Hunter going over the wall in the ALCS against the Boston Red Sox too.

Scott tenorman of the week?! Scott tenorman of the week?! Brian put me in twis!! Hi Mom!
We did run inverted veers in We did run inverted veers in the 4q and they got blown up. I can't believe we didn't run a qb draw in overtime, we were getting at least 7 yards every time with it
And the second graph's Y-axis

And the second graph's Y-axis should be "% of total carries" or something like that. Good info though.

Fun Fact

Trey Burke's given name is actually Alfonso Clark Burke III, so I guess really we should be gunning for Alfonso Burke IV, or Quad Burke if he rolls that way.

I'm pretty sure Brundidge was

I'm pretty sure Brundidge was the higher ranked recruit by (high 3* vs middle 4*) by all sites and he was in the class earlier than Burke. I believe we only went after Burke once Darius Morris went pro, which is why people thought Burke would be more important, a true PG vs a PG/SG tweener on a team with no point guards.

I would put McGary and GR3 at I would put McGary and GR3 at the exact same odds for leaving. They're best friends and similar pro prospects, they're probably talking all day to each other about what to do, and I wouldn't be surprised if that all adds up to them making the same decision.
Unfortunate but not

Unfortunate but not surprising. Hopefully Trouba sticks around.

Haha, I never noticed Tim and

Haha, I never noticed Tim and Trey jumping simultaneously on GRIII's dunk. Also about half the bench at the exact same time as them, shit I probably jumped at that moment too, I think you nailed it calling it a Pavlonian response.

Yup, we got the same

Yup, we got the same heritage. If you haven't heard about the FORCE conference it's a very well put together conference my family and I have been to a couple times. It really does a great job at objectively going over the facts of BRCA and the best ways of going about dealing with the mutation. It's specifically intended for women but it's pretty empowering from a male's perspective too, here's a link to the website if you're interested: http://www.facingourrisk.org/. My prayers go out to you and your family, I know this can be a difficult thing to deal with.

I apologize if this is too

I apologize if this is too personal, but is it BRCA? We have it in my family, luckily my sisters found out about it when they were young.

Also Levert has shown a

Also Levert has shown a tendency to get rattled in big games. Playing VCU's press in the NCAA tournament is a pretty easy way to get rattled. I'm going to be pretty nervous if Caris is bringing the ball up against heavy man pressure. I would definitely rather see Hardaway/Spike out there.

Does anybody know why Morgan

Does anybody know why Morgan didn't make an appearance tonight?

Not sure if this is what he's

Not sure if this is what he's talking about, but by my calculations the gazelle only has to run faster than the slowest gazelle to not get eaten.

I like the way you think.

Don't forget the phantom foul

Don't forget the phantom foul on Burke when Thomas took that shot from the free throw line and airballed.... even though noone touched him. That's 7 for the buckeyes plus the borderline flagrant in overtime.

Trey Burke! Tim Hardaway Jr!

Trey Burke! Tim Hardaway Jr! Mitch McGary! GO BLUE!!

McGary wasn't hyped as a HS

McGary wasn't hyped as a HS recruit I thought, he wasn't ranked #2 in the nation until he was out of high school and into his year of prep school.

I think Beilein is starting

I think Beilein is starting Vogrich just to give a nod to the senior. Starting lineups really don't matter as much in basketball, it's common to start a Senior over a Freshman early in the season just to respect the 4/5 years the senior has put in. Who Beilein plays to close the game tells more about what he thinks about his players than who he plays to start

Are you trying to say

Are you trying to say Stauskus is a better defender than Vogrich? I think we have a better team with Stauskus on the floor but I think Stauskus has a ways to go on the defensive end.

His defense really leaves a His defense really leaves a lot to be desired but got damn is he a weapon on offense
Man to man pressure is

Man to man pressure is different then zone pressure. The whole reason for zone pressure is to try to get the opponent to dribble into a trap, which is why I don't agree with the reasoning of we need our best dribblers out there, I think it's more important to have shooters who will be open when someone kicks out from a trap. If they're pressing in man, I agree 100% you want dribblers.  I'm not saying you're wrong or I'm right, that's just my basketball 2 cents.

You put in shooters against a

You put in shooters against a zone trap, I think putting in Hardaway and Stauskus is the right call. You aren't supposed to dribble through a zone, you pass and cut until you find an open shot.

This is the first time a

This is the first time a young team is playing a trap zone, I wouldn't call them struggling a bit a loss of focus and intensity.
