I wonder if it’s easier to transfer credits from another Big Ten school? It seems like that’s been an issue for previous non grad-transfer candidates. Even players that did transfer like Shea had to fight for a lot of their credits earned at their previous school.
Has any program had more starters enter into the transfer portal? It’s one thing if it’s someone leaving because they want to play. It’s also different if it’s an isolated incident. However, this has been a trend and points to a toxic environment.
It wasn’t just recruiting, he had success with everything he managed (recruiting, linebackers, safeties, special teams)
I would be ecstatic to see him brought back as D coordinator (no matter who is head coach). He seems to have next level leadership and organization skills, which is what I hope we look for in our next set of coaches.
Michigan isn’t losing because of COVID. They’re losing because they’ve recruited 2 DTs in the past 4 classes. Because they’ve failed to develop a single QB in Harbaugh’s tenure. Because they keep losing key players to the transfer portal and draft, even when it makes no sense for the players to leave. Because they are completely hopeless at running any tempo to the point where they’re snapping the ball with 4 seconds on the clock down two scores late in the fourth quarter.
in short, they’re losing because the program is disorganized and dysfunctional.
Rick Mirer grew up a Michigan fan. I remember a story where he changed his mind on committing to UM after hearing on Monday Night Football that Jim Harbaugh was the first Michigan QB to throw a touchdown in the NFL in several decades.
Have you seen Baker Mayfield against NFL defenses? Unfortunately, I don’t think DPJ’s situation is that different now than it was last year. Hopefully, at some point in his career we’ll see him play with a decent QB.
Can you imagine the insane response of the SEC fan base if they had tried to pull a Big Ten and shut stuff down? This is a calculated risk.
Their F it response will likely amount to nothing and continue to be ignored UNLESS a player gets seriously ill or dies. IF that happens get ready for all the righteous indignation from everyone that is strangely silent about this now.
At that point a designated fall guy will be assigned but nothing will really change. Rinse. Wash. Repeat.
The series was amazing but I always warn people the last two books suck and the ending feels rushed. That said, Drawing of the Three and Wizard and Glass are two of the best books I’ve ever read.
Started subscribing to the Athletic about a month ago, and it's been underwhelming to say the least. On the bright side, it's made me more thankful for content I get here without having to pay anything.
Whatever Gattis brings, we’re playing with house money after the last two years.
Pep was an experienced play caller and his schemes and play calling were sub par. Think back to the Northwestern game last year or any time we were 3rd/4th and short. He was ultra conservative, which allowed defenses to easily anticipate and tee off on our play calls.
This year, the offense should improve greatly simply by having an approach that makes it difficult on the defense to anticipate what we’re going to do on a play-to-play basis. If Gattis ends up being a great play caller, that’s the cherry on top.

Imagine Ono with Jim Hackett as the AD. That, along with Harbaugh as coach would be the ultimate dream team.
Matt has been a great addition to the site. I find myself looking as forward to his content as much as staples like UFR breakdowns for football.

We have 4 new offensive linemen that replaced guys all on active NFL rosters, and we didn’t miss a beat. All hail Warriner!
Not their fault, Dalton Hill told them he was.
When I saw this, it made me think of Brian’s 2018 preview. We have basically become Iowa. A good, not great program.

If they started in the fall could they opt back in?

That’s ridiculous! Everyone knows our offense sucks because Harbaugh doesn’t flip out enough anymore on the sideline!
Did Aubrey Solomon play in Tennessee’s loss? He will be interesting to watch considering the strange circumstances of his time here.
Loved their “Pep Hamilton” 2-minute offense at the end of the half.
Thanks, just decided to make the leap. Goodbye cable!
Despite paying way too much for cable, I am unable to access the game

Michigan, Michigan State, and the Lions.

Given the current depth at CB, I can’t see him being pushed out if they thought he had a legitimate shot at playing.
Nobody can answer this, and this is the very reason Brian created the #collegekickers meme
