Never really understood the disdain for Mark May. He isn't by any means the most comprehensive analyst, but his takes are somewhat reasonable and his reactions to "Holtz-isms" are hilarious.

I'm ready to run through a got damn brick wall, man. We need this W so badly.

Its finally...SHEA DAY!

Its finally...SHEA DAY!

It's finally....SHEA DAY.

It's finally....SHEA DAY.

QB?

I just think it's so hard to predict our ceiling (such as reaching the CFP) without knowing how O'Korn (or any other QB) will play next season. I thnk all of the hype is once again predicated on the #HarbaughEffect. We have returning talent, but a question mark at the most crucial position leaves considerable doubt.

I don't feel bad for him

Hard to feel bad for Ryan Mallett. Although I personally cannot attest to losing the starting QB job in the NFL training camp, he handled the situation as poorly as possible. When he got his chance, he did not perform. When he was beched again, he mentally checked out. That's not a professional, that's an entitled high school prima donna.

Wut

Harbaugh inherited an 8-8 team with an underachiveing QB in 2010. He reinvigorated Alex Smith's career and took what NYT calls an "incapable" pro-style QB to the superbowl. And if by "skedaddle" they mean (literally) ran out of town, then yes.

I was seriously waiting for the "/s" at the end of that article.

Pass the Shades

Great line.

However, I still feel like shit. I can't help it. It's haunting. Each waking day has a new theme. First, what could have O'Neil done instead of what he did? Second, why ccan't Rudock hit the targets other QBs can hit? Third, how did we let a fullback scamper 75 yards?

Above all, hearing MSU fans confidently say they had us where they wanted us and the game was always in hand is killing me. It is such bullshit and for that, I cannot let this one go.

Agreed

Agreed. With that many people in or around the stadium, incidents like these are going to happen.

That being said, I am surprised at how intense they are cracking down on student IDs. Is it due in part to the lost revenue from the ticket validation or not trusting "outsiders" in the student section?

Recruiting Coordinator

I think Hoke's best bet would be to find a recruiting coordinator job at a Power 5. It is undeniable that he formed tremendous relationships with his players and was more of a life mentor than an effective Xs and Os head coach.

I think he would do very well on the recruting trail selling the program on the intangibles, staying far away from actual game strategy and Xs and Os.

Title

The article title is definitely a red flag, and to the casual fan/troll, they will probably glean the worst from it.

However, for Michigan fans (and few others) who actually read the article, it really is not that bad. Ondre Pipikins was a senior, meaning there was no advantage to booting him. Further, his injuries were well-documented, and many who followed him knew there was a possibility he would not return to form. The coaches/trainers seemed to be straightforward with him, and although their approach of pressuring him seems shady, the overall premise of advising a young man who suffered two concussions and ACL tear to step away is not an abhorrent crime.

Who could it be?

Anyone have any idea?

Highlight Tape

I have no words for his highlight tape, but I suggest each and every one of you watch it.

Agreed

It seems like the lady gave up her tickets because the game day experience wasn't the same anymore. I highly doubt a 30-year ticket holder declared the university, and all that it stands for, "not the same" because of the last decade of poor on-field performance/DB.

I would be very curious to hear from anyone who didn't develop the slightest bit of apathy towards our struggles during RichRod/Hoke. I never stopped loving Michigan -- its history, tradition. But I can admit that the losses that once felt like the end of the world became less impactful, and that "championship mentality" going into every regular season game definitely waned.

Its

just a visor. I wouldn't say it's "plastered" all over the helmet. Tabs are a bit large but is that really an issue?

Competition

I believe in Harbaugh's emphasis on competition and the meritocracy, but does the fact that he is still (allegedly) seeking grad transfers imply anything about his confidence  (or lack thereof) in finding a starter in Morris, Speight or Malzone?

awesome

Does anyone love football and Michigan more than Harbaugh?

Family and Michigan. That is all.

Still #ninersempire tho....

What happened to

What happened to discussions of modifying the extra point?

I'd personally like to see the extra point kick moved back significantly. It'd make things a lot more interesting if a kicker has to make a 40 yarder instead of a 18-20 yarder.

Asked myself this many times

I absolutely love Michigan. I love the tradition, the program, and the campus. If I was an in-state recruit, I would most likely go to Michigan

That being said, there is almost no chance I would come here to play football IF I was from out of state. There are plenty of prominent academic institutions across the country that have respectable football programs; plus the huge caveat: weather. It would be tough to choose Michigan over the likes of a UCLA or USC.

There goes...

any shot at making the tournament. It'll be a battle to make the NIT

SOL

Same Old Lions is not always an indictment on how bad the Lions are. It is essentially Murphy's Law: when something can go wrong for the Lions, it (generally) does.

I am 23 years old and it is becoming alarmingly clear that I will never witness a Lions' Superbowl. I don't know how to cope with that.

Welp

You can always count on Coach Schiano to let you down

Another day another 'Baugh

This is interesting because I didn't know potential coaches move that quickly to find coordinators. This rumor would assume that Jim has not only accepted the job while coaching the Niners, but he already reached out and assembled his staff...all while preparing for the Cardinals!

I doubt it

I highly doubt Hackett tells the team specific details, considering the measures the department has taken to protect any information from leaking. He is dealing with 90+ 18-22 year olds in the height of social media usage.

My guess is he tells the team specific dates that they will be notified of the decision, ie. December 30, Jan 1st or Jan. 2nd.

WTF

Why the hell is there even a post about what we're going to talk about WHEN AND AFTER we get Harbaugh. There is literally no confirmed info that he is coming. He actually has not even uttered the words 'Michigan' publicly. Yet we're wondering what there is to talk about after he comes? Man....

Not sure why...

Anything that is reported by the national pundits infuriates me.

They are quick to make proclamations directly from their inside sources, ignore the local/college media, then when they realize the local/college guys may be right, they slowly change their stance (pendulum swinging) without acknowledging they were WRONG.

Legends Jerseys

I actually like the legends jersey in theory, because it allows younger generations to become acquainted with Michigan Football's rich history. Being born in 1991, I wasn't exactly an expert on Bennie Oosterbaan, Wisterts, Ron Kramer, etc.

BUT, in practice, I really don't like the legends jerseys for a few reasons. One, the added significance of meeting the "legends" family and bearing the patch every game may create unnecessary pressure. Two, wearing the legend's jersey may create a sense of entitlement. Three, by the time many of the players reach a point where they've earned the jersey, they have already created their own name with the number they initially wore.

Desperation

If we struck out with the obvious guys I would legitimately consider Pelini or even Tressel

/kill me now

Anyone

Anyone that thinks Chicago isn't the biggest threat is fooling themselves. Does anyone remember the 49ers before Jim Harbuagh --> DESOLATE.

Chicago offers a fantastic city, a core group of talent, history with Harbaugh, rich tradition --and I am a diehard Lions fan!

What a name

Imagine some douchebags crowded around a computer giggling while picking a user name for MGoBlog that will make them "fit in."

MICHBRO. THEY'LL NEVER KNOW

Well

I'd be really dissapointed if we did not land Harbaugh, BUT I would not be suicidal....contigent upon us landing a viable #2 (Miles, Mora, Stoops, surprise CC).

If we completely struck out, lost more recruits, and hired Schiano -- I would genuinely consider blacking out (booze) and blacking out the 2015 season.

Don't make me do it!!!!!!!!!

Amazing

It would be amazing to see what our "needs" would be if we could develop the talent currently on the team

Agreed

I agree. Cook has most of the qualities that generaly translate to the NFL. I, for one, thought he would declare given the weak pool of QBs and the amount of teams in need of a QB.

I think a month ago I saw a mock draft that had him going mid to late first round.

GAHH

WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON

This

This is so stupid.

woah

pretty cool. But what does JH stand for?

Or

Or just selective attention. For every rumor that Harbaugh is coming there is a rumor that he is not.

Vegas Knows

While I'm a firm believer that Vegas ALWAYS knows, I think this may be the case of a lot of die hard Michigan fans who have recreational money that was worht an 8-1 buyout, thus moving it down (just to be safe).

Then again, Vegas ALWAYS knows!

Kudos Cowherd

He literally trolled one of the largest fanbases in college football. And most of us, even the rational ones, bought into it for a while.

I am interested

I am interested in the bit about Hackett's conference call with former players. I wonder if it was to discuss criteria in coaching candidates, discuss possible candidates, or just a courtesy by Hackett to keep the players in the loop.

Couple thoughts come to mind

When I initially read that quote it seemed fairly obvious that is what he had to tell a recruit while sitting in his living room. But then it occurred to me that Michigan may have already contacted him and told him they are not conisdering him, or contacted him telling him they have their guy already. In either of the latter scenarios, his response to the recruit was definitive nd accurate.

WHO KNOWS

Huh?

What is the point of this?

HA

Such a GRIII move.

IDK

I slightly understand the hesitation in the $8 million amount, but you have to ask how bad you want this guy. I truly believe JH is a once in a generation coach and there is no way we can pass on him because of financial considerations.

That being said, are we capable of hiring a coach on the rise for a more modest salary? I sure as hell hope so with the resources we have in the search process.

No joke

I watched 3 minutes of this video and laughed the entire time.

Why?

As many people have said, we are realistically not getting Jim Harbaugh. Why would you not want Les Miles? Almost every issue is minor. Age? Nick Saban is 63 and recruits well. Relies on Coordinators? Tell me a top program that doesn't have top coordinators. Agressive playcalling? I'd take it.

The guy should have had the job several times in the past. Proven winner in the toughest conference.
