  • Yes, it reveals the player's commitment to the program and personal development within it.
  • Could be a purely money thing, or this player could have been really struggling to fit in - team expectations, campus life, etc.
  • It calls into some question the massive effort M coaches put into high school recruiting.  If a trend emerges, the model might prompt a re-think in M's approach
  • If M's model leads to more roster stability than other programs, it will be interesting to see if it correlates with winning over the course of several years.

I’m happy the trend is changing.  To dismiss my posts as a fan from a rival school is spurious -  it’s not true

That’s a reasonable part of…

That’s a reasonable part of the question-is Michigan following a distinctly different recruiting pattern because of a distinct culture and will Michigan’s differences be validated in the end or not?  I don’t know

It’s only trolling if there…

It’s only trolling if there was an obvious answer to the questions…I’ve been going to Michigan games for 42 years and concerned I don’t know the answers

The post wasn’t negative - the issue is factual and relevant and I hadn’t seen it discussed recently. I don’t follow the recruiting news closely so wondered if I missed come context

Michigan has zero 3-star commits at this point …if they did I might guess they found some hidden gems

A lot of folks outside the…

A lot of folks outside the Michigan fan base think the National Championship means Michigan has peaked and is already in decline as a program …I don’t think so myself, but  is that the sense among recruits?

Yes…Orji might appear to work for a few games but he seems positioned to lose multiple games that will fall on his shoulders

Has there ever been a more…

Has there ever been a more anticipated SPRING GAME?  Even in last year’s massively analyzed Spring Game, most of what we learned was irrelevant to the season.  A bunch of deep depth chart guys were heroes for a day while the starters watched from the sidelines

I was cautiously optimistic until I read this post,…now I’m muttering dontbeiowadontbeiowadontbeiowa….

It’s not…I’ve been reading…

It’s not…I’ve been reading mgoblog since 2006 but didn’t post for a long time and lost my old id. To the extent I write professionally, it has nothing to do with sports or Michigan. Come to think of it, that would be more fun!

Yes - good one....seems like the tip of an iceberg.  Who is encouraging players to invest NIL money into private equity (which could be really solid or really risky investments!)?

Last year Jake Butt and Devin Gardner were the announcers…a bit quaint and wonky but fit the atmosphere. Gus and Klatt be like “and there we have the first 10 yard pass between Jayden uh Davis uh Warren  and …somebody”

Sad to see the Daily back down on a mild rebuke of the job performance of one of the university's highest paid employees. The Daily represents a leigtimate perspective

i was in the band in the Brady years when it was on the visitor's side. i only recall *seeing* a game  when we travelled to Penn State and had a better vantage point.  i do remember getting a chuckle wandering around behind the opposing team's bench.  the turf was natural grass at the time and my indelible memory is a weird mushiness marching up and down the field <end memory>

The question of concern: how…

The question of concern: how can this work in Sherrone’s favor?. The legal/moral/medical issue isn’t particularly interesting. If contractually Sherrone can fire Scruggs, this is a golden opportunity to put his mark on the program and show who is boss. The long term benefits of showing resolve and setting standards vastly outweighs any near term hiccup in spring practice, recruiting calls, etc.

Have the lawyers check the…

Have the lawyers check the contract and if this is a firing offense, let him go. The university doesn’t ow him any reciprocal commitment - he’s been here five minutes. DL coaches are dime a dozen.  They are mainly distinguished by how well they recruit…the coaching part is pretty generic. This is an opportunity for Sherrone to set the tone for his program…he shouldn’t pass it up

also when he didnt show up…

also when he didnt show up till midway through the season

ive seen short term concern…

ive seen short term concern for looking cold hearted doom many a managerial decision for firing someone.  Juwan wasnt just suffering but actively causing trouble and embarrassing the program for millions per year.
