Surprised not to see a game thread, but Michigan just won a tight game, pulling away down the stretch, 69-60. Good win to start 2-0 in conference play, 11-3 overall.

ANN ARBOR (OP) - Michigan's women's basketball team upset the #17 Ohio State Buckeyes, pulling away late in the 4th quarter to notch a 69-60 win in both team's second in-conference matchup.

Laila Phelia led the Wolverines with 26 points. "We knew going in that this would be a tight game.  They're a good team, but after watching the Cotton Bowl last night, we knew that they'd take after their bretheren and eventually fade in the fourth quarter."

Ohio State coach Kevin McGuff didn't mince words during his postgame presser.  "It is what it is.  Really disappointed with this loss.  We thought we had them well scouted - the Catapult footage was pretty comprehensive - but they made some good plays down the stretch, so credit to them."

Buckeye guard Rikki Harris agreed.  "We'd beaten them 3 in a row, in a reverse of our football team, so we kind of had their number.  During the game I was just trying to play hard and thinking to myself 'Rikki don't lose that number' but they baited me into some cheap fouls so I was a fool to do their dirty work, oh yeah."

OMG, Could you imagine if she really said that.

I brought my girls to their first women’s bball game today. We had a blast. Great crowd energy and the tickets are a great deal too.
