A foe, valorous.
Yet, inescapable fate

sings of sad cannons.

The critique isn’t that it’s…

The critique isn’t that it’s not humble. The critique is that it centers Christianity  in a way that excludes and marginalized other beliefs. And that shouldn’t be happening at a public institution, or on its athletic squads. Don’t equate the mission of the institution with your personal mythology. If that’s your personal motivation, fine. But once you equate it with the public/collective, you’re crossing an ethical line.

Please never use the phrase …

Please never use the phrase “cuckeyes” again. Thanks in advance.

Did the universe just recall…

Did the universe just recall the miserable fate of Rutgers for now and forever?

Absolutely wrong. They didn…

Absolutely wrong. They didn’t need to open it up, as evidenced by the brutality they inflicted on PSU’s defense.

Our foe, Frames Janklin—

A tragic incompetence

Who weaves his own doom.

Could you say what it was…

Could you say what it was about the route trees that was bad? And what better route trees would replace them?

Get out of here with that…

Get out of here with that. This isn’t RCMB. Embarrassing.

It’s not a setup if you’re…

It’s not a setup if you’re expected to play better than the guy you’re actually better than. And then you don’t do that in consecutive games.

Just want to point out that…

Just want to point out that a full Rutger is in the works as things stand.

Take a video recording…

Take a video recording discreetly and post so the world knows how ugly they are?

Even if Cade could…

Even if Cade could productively enact a more aggressive approach to the passing game, there’s still the issue of his inability to threaten the defense during zone reads. JJ’s feet, or the threat of them, can change the prospects of the whole offensive scheme.

Cade was not the BIG winner,…

Cade was not the BIG winner, anymore than JJ was. The team won the BIG, and each played a role in that.

Not a good look for him to…

Not a good look for him to take this tone. It’s discordant and smells like sour grapes, especially when he just got outplayed by his competition.

Yes, good signs. But I…

Yes, good signs. But I wonder how effective the bull-rushes will be against legit BIG10 lines as we move through the season. Gonna need to stay creative and find a couple guys who can get mix things up with speed around the edge.

A few nice observations from…

A few nice observations from the film so far:

DTs and Mazi were getting a lot of leverage and living up to the hype. Saw quite a few shots of CSU's interior lineman unable to handle them in run blocking situations.

Welschof struggled to set the edge on some running plays and seemed directly responsible for some of the rare chunk runs and silly conversions when the rest of the D was in good position.

Pass rush from the collective D-Line looked tantalizing. Interior seemed to do an excellent job of pushing the pocket and allowing the edges to cash in.

When life gives you rams,…

When life gives you rams, make mutton.

1. Dogs, but only dogs…

1. Dogs, but only dogs bigger than a Jack Russell. Anything smaller is unacceptable. That’s the cutoff.

2. Trucks. Having to rent a truck to haul 12’ boards is really getting my goat.

3. No tattoos. Absolutely not.

4. Trick answer, tabletop D&D.

5. Convince Attila to read RCMB, and hope he finds it so cringe-inducing to merit destruction. Show Attila doctored photos of Ryan Day dining and cavorting with Flavius Aetius. Keep my wolverines out of the fray and release to the wilds after the battle.

Don't dishonor the foe…

Don't dishonor the foe. Simply celebrate the heroism of the day!

That's excellent news…

That's excellent news. Ronnie is a constantly positive presence for this team--anyone else notice that he's always got a smile on his face when they catch him on the sidelines? I love watching players who clearly love the game.

Sports really are a mystical…

Sports really are a mystical thing--it pulls out something deep and primordial. It's the one place where I can think in a pre-scientific way and not feel ashamed of it. Go Blue Forever. Thank you for your own personal superstitious contribution to this best of all possible worlds.

My wife (an MSU fan) was convinced by halftime that we would win. I kept telling her not to speak the words, lest we tempt fate.

Race matters because racism…

Race matters because racism is still a huge problem in our world. Is that difficult?

We do not speak the evil…

We do not speak the evil into existence!

But, surely another brother can deny?

“Toughness and resolve” is…

“Toughness and resolve” is putting their O in a 3rd down passing situation and getting a sack strip. If we’re not making excuses, then Michigan deserves the W, because they scored more points.

Sometimes you play like shit…

Sometimes you play like shit. Shit happens. But we still won the damn game. I’m gonna go ahead and feel good, thanks.

Every game is a big game.

Those dropped touchdowns (I counted 3 at least) were painful. If our guys catch the damn ball (that includes pick-6's and punts too!), we're looking at a happier set of circumstances. Other than that, I'm fine. Life is good. Get better, keep winning! Go blue.

10 things of beauty. The best kind of Friday procrastination. That Wheatley run got me pumped. I felt like my mind was doing some premature deja vu with Charbonnet doing the exact same run for the good guys.

I love Friday. I love…

I love Friday. I love Michigan. I love football. Wanna bang?

I've been waiting for Ross…

I've been waiting for Ross to assume his ultimate form for a while now. Recalling his highlight reel from high school, there was a certain "charity" to the way he distributed the hurt to ball-carriers. And we've seen increasingly more of that over the last couple years. Is there any greater football archetype than a linebacker with the ability to just light someone up at any moment? Someone that causes the clouds to belch lightning after a hit, you know? Bush had it, and I miss him for it already. Hoping to see a lot from Josh this year!
