Ronnie Bell - coming back

Not a big surprise, but great news.
November 28th, 2021 at 3:09 PM ^
Great news. This team with him would be even more amazing!
November 28th, 2021 at 6:18 PM ^
If anyone missed it, Ronnie's interview with Jake Butt last week is well worth the listen. Ronnie gave some great insight into how this turnaround came about, how it started on Day 1 of spring practice. It's on YouTube and Spotify, I believe
November 28th, 2021 at 3:09 PM ^
Bad title. Figured you meant this week. Glad to hear he’ll be back… NEXT SEASON
November 28th, 2021 at 3:12 PM ^
Torn ACL is normally 6 months after surgery for rehab
has been 3 months
November 28th, 2021 at 3:15 PM ^
Because it was clear since Bell's injury that he'd be out until next year, I assumed the title meant next season.
November 28th, 2021 at 3:26 PM ^
Yeah, but there is so much going our way now that it is easy to misconstrue. I thought the same thing.
November 28th, 2021 at 3:41 PM ^
Right. That was a possible interpretation. That makes the title possibly unclear but not bad.
November 28th, 2021 at 3:10 PM ^
Hell yes!
November 28th, 2021 at 3:11 PM ^
Great news
November 28th, 2021 at 3:12 PM ^
Our wide receiving crew is going to be stellar next year yet again. Bell, CoJo, Wilson, Sainristil, Anthony, Henning and even using Edwards and Corum. That doesn’t even mention the tight ends who have really came around as well. All is finally rounding into that weapon Harbaugh was talking about.
November 28th, 2021 at 3:20 PM ^
Yeah it should be good. Will be interesting to see who all comes back over all on this team
November 28th, 2021 at 4:17 PM ^
I'm pretty nervous about attrition TBH. That's a lot of talented WRs on a team that doesn't throw the ball often. Nearly any of them could play for other P5 schools and put up bigger stats than with us.
November 28th, 2021 at 4:45 PM ^
Agree, no way all those guys are coming back.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:44 PM ^
Right...
Only at OSU does a first round WR come back and the #1 and #10 overall players in the country sit their freshman year biding their time. Then again they have a totally different offense with 3 1000 yard WRs.
Great news on this front but I do worry how many WRs are going to want to come to this type of offense when reality speaking those guys in the top 200 have NFL aspirations. But that's a worry for another month.
November 28th, 2021 at 6:19 PM ^
They all factor into the passing game except for Henning and Dixon so far. Wilson is getting better, so is CoJo and Anthony will be a beast. Sainristil is making plays. Henning is doing returns and ends rounds and could factor in more next year as well. We’ve seen more of the multiple players in the backfield with the Qb that could expand for next year.
November 28th, 2021 at 3:33 PM ^
This staff has done a great job of finding rough diamonds with a ton of speed and overlooked talent.
We can fully expect Anthony, already a great receiver, to make great strides.
You also can't overstate Bell's leadership. Dude will lead by example and have this room putting in the effort, tirelessly watching film and working on weaknesses.
Ohio might have the stars but we have the heart.
November 28th, 2021 at 3:14 PM ^
Hopefully Haskins and Ojabo announce their return next! ;)
November 28th, 2021 at 3:19 PM ^
Definitely Ojabo. Shelf life for running backs in the NFL is short anyway, he needs to go get paid. Ojabo has the upmost potential for the NFL, but he could become Hutchinson next season and lead the defense. I’d also like to see Dax come back for one more season as well, to continue to lead our young secondary into the future.
November 28th, 2021 at 3:27 PM ^
I think all are likely to leave. Dax and Ojabo certainly. Haskins seems likely with the depth UM has at RB.
November 28th, 2021 at 3:32 PM ^
Yeah, our defense is gonna be young. We are most likely gonna have both defensive ends, our surest line backer and five star do it defensive back. Gonna have to have some people step up to the plate. Colson and NHG should be good at linebacker with Barrett stepping up as well. Replacing Ojabo, Dax and Hutch will be tough.
November 28th, 2021 at 4:41 PM ^
I haven’t heard as much about Dax leaving early. Is he being projected to the first round? If he isn’t going in the first round, then I think there is a chance he comes back for another year.
November 28th, 2021 at 4:50 PM ^
Salvatore - Just curious. Have you changed your opinion on our defensive coordinator now or no? Your comments from last week:
“Mike MACDonald isn’t good at his job. The run defense is mediocre at best and the defense has real issues with substitution. His defense cost Michigan the game vs MSU. Hutch and Ojabo cover up a lot of flaws. They won’t be here next year.
Michigan needs to find an experienced DC who can also recruit, another thing MACDonald isn’t particularly adept at.
When they get torn apart by OSU next week those numbers, fattened up playing some atrocious offenses, will get exposed.
The run defense is substandard for a Michigan defense. They will get shredded by Henderson next week”.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:47 PM ^
Been reading many yrs. Next time he admits he is wrong will be the first time.
November 28th, 2021 at 6:41 PM ^
If he were to change his mind and admit he is wrong, would he then become Sal Amender?
November 28th, 2021 at 8:51 PM ^
The decision for a guy like Haskins has to be based on how he thinks the NFL views him, which will determine whether or how much he gets paid. He’s do doubt an outstanding college player, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to make a living in the NFL. I haven’t read anything yet that touts him as a high pick. Higdon bailed out of a bowl game for an NFL career that never happened.
November 28th, 2021 at 3:19 PM ^
Haskins and Ojabo are likely to strike while the iron is hot. It will depend on draft predictions. Haskins does not have elite speed so hard to say how he will be drafted.
November 28th, 2021 at 3:42 PM ^
I can't see Haskins going before the late fourth round at the absolute earliest due to concerns about top end speed.
I do think he has a role in the NFL though, especially given how most NFL teams are utilizing multiple RBs these days, and Haskins has shown he can pass block and catch the ball out of the backfield.
He should still go pro right now, though. His stock won't get higher with another year.
November 28th, 2021 at 3:55 PM ^
Haskins is the ideal 2nd rb in the NFL. Guy is durable, runs hard, never fumbles, blocks and catches. He would even be a good special teams player. His draft status will always be what it is but he should go now to prevent and injury next year
November 28th, 2021 at 5:48 PM ^
He is not going to get faster with another yr. RBs not named Frank gore only have so many carries in them. He should go and secure his family for life.
November 28th, 2021 at 3:19 PM ^
I’d be thrilled to keep 1 of the 2. Sadly I think both are gone.
November 28th, 2021 at 3:29 PM ^
Yeah I'm slightly worried about our defense next year if basically all our sacks are in the NFL. Hopefully Ojabo comes back.
Fortunately offense should be returning almost everybody.
November 28th, 2021 at 3:24 PM ^
Excellent news. Losing Hutchinson, Ross, Hawkins, and likely Ojabo, I expect our defense to take a little bit of a step back. But our offense will have a chance to step up even more. Potentially losing Haskins, Vastardis, and Stueber could hurt the tough running game some, which sucks knowing how we won yesterday, but there’s so many other returning pieces and untapped potential there that it’s hard not to be excited for. QB battle will be very interesting.
November 28th, 2021 at 3:28 PM ^
Safety will be fine. LB too.
Just no replacing Hutch. Will have to be a collaborative effort.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:14 PM ^
Safety and linebacker have seen enough talent come in and produce in secondary roles to assume fine. The natural improvement of talent of the players already on the roster should help overall too, but replacing 24 sacks (so far) from Ojabo/Hutchinson is going to be a big task. Might need the offense to step up a bit to help too.
November 28th, 2021 at 6:40 PM ^
I think Ross has another year if he wants it…the Covid year and all
November 28th, 2021 at 3:25 PM ^
Let’s just do our own striking this year and win the whole damn thing. But beat Iowa first and foremost.
November 28th, 2021 at 3:27 PM ^
I was thinking this was for the B1G champ game and playoffs at first glance!! Still awesome news. His leadership as well as awesome receiving skills will elevate the whole receiving corp I believe
November 28th, 2021 at 3:30 PM ^
"Feels like the beginning"
November 28th, 2021 at 3:31 PM ^
That is awesome news on Bell. The WR will be really strong. Antrel Anthony needs to be targeted a lot more. He’s special. Who ever the QB is will have a lot of targets.
November 28th, 2021 at 6:42 PM ^
They’re all pretty great that room will be stacked next year . Roman Wilson catching everything even with that wrist bodes well…Hennig is the only guy I could see leaving Ala Giles Jackson
November 28th, 2021 at 3:32 PM ^
That's excellent news. Ronnie is a constantly positive presence for this team--anyone else notice that he's always got a smile on his face when they catch him on the sidelines? I love watching players who clearly love the game.
November 28th, 2021 at 3:33 PM ^
Glad to have Ronnie back next year.
November 28th, 2021 at 3:39 PM ^
I always expected it but it’s great to have confirmation. Our offense is going to need to carry the defense for a while. They’ll sort things out though
November 28th, 2021 at 3:37 PM ^
And I have to say it is super exciting to be talking about next year when our season finally is still playing for something this year. We can enjoy both discussions for once. We didn’t have to send these same players we are discussing off after another loss to them and reluctantly talk about “next year” like we have had to for far too many years.
November 28th, 2021 at 3:56 PM ^
That's awesome. With sainristil, Johnson and Anthony back, the receivers will be a strength
Xavier Worthy can watch at home.
November 28th, 2021 at 4:06 PM ^
This is excellent news for next year. Our WR group is going to be awesome with Edwards and Corum out of the backfield adding a dynamic passing game.
November 28th, 2021 at 4:19 PM ^
Wonderful news! This weekend has been awesome. I don’t want it to end.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:08 PM ^
That is totally awesome news. Ronnie is a great player and leader. Totally stoked for him and Michigan Football. Bet he has a fabulous year next year. Michigan will be loaded on offense and in receivers.
November 28th, 2021 at 5:25 PM ^
Imagine that this is your wide receiver room:
Ronnie bell
cornelius johnson
aj henning
andrel anthony
Roman wilson
mike sainristil
cristian Dixon
And any others I may have missed or forgot
if that doesn’t give you a chill down your spine for 2022 I don’t know what will
November 28th, 2021 at 5:44 PM ^
Very glad to have him.
