I half expected Cade to land in South Bend. Thought that would be a nice match for him. I still would’ve rooted for him to be successful there, but it would’ve sucked having to root for ND to be successful.

A guy that took Michigan to a place we hadn't been in a long/ever is also transferring. Shit is different now. And I don't blame them.

Pretty amazing experience to be bmoc in multiple spots

Saying their starting QB is disingenuous. Tyler Buchner was their starter and he got injured. Pyne came in and was decent. I'm assuming that Buchner is the presumed starter when he comes back and Pyne thinks he played well enough to transfer to start somewhere else

One thing that I think will be incredibly fascinating is smaller time players who blow up early in their first year or two parlaying that into big time NIL money from bigger schools for their junior/senior years. I could see a big feeder system where smaller schools act as a screening system for misranked players coming out of HS.

Amateurism has been a sham for several decades (always?). Everyone else is raking in money from this billion dollar industry. So why shouldn't the players be able to make some money for themselves?

The transfer portal (along with early signing) probably needs some revamping, but not necessarily a complete overhaul, and definitely not removal.

And a 12 team playoff will be better than what we have, in no small part because half of the spots will be guaranteed for conference champs. Getting rid of conference championship games, and forcing conferences to be smaller (neither of which is happening anytime soon) are the only things that could make a 12 team system better.

Counterpoint - no it isn't.  A guy realizes he wasn't going to get a fair shot competing for the starting spot next year so he left instead of being forced to go through a dog-and-pony show and then have to sit out a year to transfer.

Also, and I can't stress this enough, the playoffs merely give more teams a chance to actually compete for something as opposed to being shunted off to a meaningless bowl game that nets guys in suits millions of dollars and gives fans the right to complain about unpaid athletes not wanting to risk serious injury to make that money for them.

I know people are making a lot around this but ND's QB spot has been bad all year and there was talk of Freeman bringing in multiple transfers and recruits to compete.  Pyne completing 23 of 26 vs. USC is more an indictment of USC's defense than proof he's a high-level QB.

He'll land somewhere but this is more a guy realizing he was going to lose his job and figuring it wasn't worth being in a sham competition.

Bama should be paying $12m for NC QB.  This is the way. If you are successful in your first 2 years a lot of these guys will be free agents.  And take the high bid.
