And the only cure is more CROONTINNNNNNN. I wish I would play the "I'm just gonna wait until signing day" card, but I can't lie I love this shit. Solomon would be the crown jewel of a really legit class.

It took me a few years to get to his happy place re: recruiting but it is SO much more enjoyable when you can observe it all with a sanity-maintaining level of detachment.

I can still recall the recruit that was my tipping point: Bryce McNeal, a WR from Minnesota who was committed and then decommited to go to Clemson. I was LIVID; taking it as if he had done this to personally upset me. Then I "saw the light" and realized that none of this shit matters at all.

By the way, I don't usually follow the college careers of players who don't end up at UM but I did in McNeal's case for obvious reasons. He didn't do squat at Clemson. I take no pleasure in making that statement but it just confirmed for me how meaningless all these STARZ!!! are when it comes to projecting the potential of HS football players.

We could say the same about our season.  Why follow it?  We can just check back on December 1st and see how we did!  That would be way easier than stressing about it all fall.

In a season context, that shit should be fun! We are going to end up with the record we end up with. Bitching, moaning, making huge sweeping statements based off one game, or one drive, or one play, and getting all bent out of shape about it is not healthy.

Or at least thats what we probably should do. But where's the fun in that!

Last year the staff had an amazing finish to the recruiting cycle and I am hoping for the same this year. If they can finish by landing Solomon, Becton and flipping Thorpe that would constitute an amazing finish to one of the highest rated classes in program history. The future is bright!

Does this mean:

A. We are out on Nico

B.We missed somewhere else and are bringing in additional wr with intent to convert one to db

C. Some current MI wr's will not be back next year (Guess: Perry, Harris, Ways, or Johnson)

D. We like Martin soo much we are willing to take an extra wr

Just wondering what everyone thinks

Feels like Nico is trending away and we are going back to Martin.  When Nico was "100%" we were not after Martin like we are now.  So hence my "gut" says this, maybe Sam said something 100% oopposite.

Sounds like OSU and ND are after him too along with that trash dump in EL.  Oh and Iowa.  Seems like ND is in the cat bird's seat as they never cooled on him to target others... but who knows - crootin'.

is great, but at some point for a wide reciever they need to be thinking, "show me the qb" and "show me the system."

Yes, perhaps Martin feels he was second fiddle to Nico and the other top recievers on our board....but does that mean you punish yourself by going to OSU, MSU or Iowa that has no established passing game and/or big time QB recruits coming in to throw you the ball?

Not sure about ND's situation, but they always seem to be pass happy, so I could see a reciever going there.  But if Jim Harbaugh recruits me - knowing how he develops QBs and sophisticated and balanced passing offenses, I think the choice is clear.

Or go to OSU and catch 20 balls a year while you block for your scrambling, arm punting QB and get coached by a twitter troll who doesn't understand a basic 3 reciever route tree.

weight in the state of Iowa compared to other big ten schools. You could probably say that about a lot places, but for an Iowa kid to be offered by Michigan, it's like Harvard offering a student.

Michigan has had success with Iowa wr in the past. Hopefully they are selling the crap out of that.

I'm pretty sure he is leaving the state, but he would play for Iowa as a freshman.

I think if we press for him he is ours. The only reason these other schools are in it is because we slow played him while we had the full court press on Nico. I'm pulling for Martin to join. When you have all the Detroit kids and other commits pushing Harbaugh for him after the opening camps it tells you that you have a great teammate and some skills.

choosing MSU with any degree of rational thought. Versus ND and UM and OSU, degree is worse (I doubt he is solely thinking NFL future), the QB play is worse, the program trend is worse, recruiting class is worse, and campus/environment is equal/worse. I am not sure why he waited this long to commit, but now he has 3 blue bloods and he is considering a non-elite MSU? The illogical world of recruiting.

Sam did mention on his podcast(this is not an exact quote), that he doesn't exactly agree with the notion that it is because of Nico situation... He said(without intel, only his own thoughts) that it is due to Brad Hawkins' being able to change positions if needed...

Just thought I'd share here FWIW

We've missed on a number of targets, so we have room and Martin is very good. So,

A) No.
B) Kind of, we missed on Wilson, didn't take another DB like Hicks or Sebastian so we could convert Hawkins.
C) I'd expect everyone to be back unless Perry's situation goes south.
D) Yes, because we have more room than anticipated.
